Interesting how you dodged everything else I mentioned in my comment and just replied with a generic response about how insurance splits cost. I know the insurance game, they split cost many different ways… which is why I always ask the receptionist how much will be my total, because we as a patient don’t know what all kind of fees and charges clinics and insurances companies come up with, and we don’t care for all the details, we want to know in the end what are we going to be charged TOTAL. However the problem here was the receptionist told me I will be paying only $ 59. However after the exam she tells me about the fitting charge. And some of the facilities, like yours, say in these instances that well its obvious/routine. Here is my reply to that… if its sooo obvious/routine then how come you guys don’t mention it before the exam/service, why always afterwards.

First and LAST time here. The only positive thing about this visit was the other CUSTOMER who help me pick out my glasses.

I would not even give 1 star for this place. The insurance thru my job was switched so my family had to get a new eye provider and decided to go with TSO. For my first initial call we wanted to schedule appointments for my wife and 2 daughters but they didn’t have the capacity to see all 3 in 1 day until next month however they were only able to fit in my wife and only 1 of my daughters for the 1st day and my other daughter for the following day. The waiting area for kids was dirty, the small picnic table had food smeared and looked like it’s been there for days. It was bad cause there were 2 flies. The toys were dirty as well and full of dust. You can tell that no one goes in there and cleans them. What is the point to have a kids waiting area if the staff will not take care of it? I must say, the Dr exam was very good and professional, the Dr was very friendly and informative however the female staff who helps you pick the glasses has the worst attitude ever. As I wait for my wife and daughter to pick her glasses I noticed no one else came in to the store so I asked if they can go ahead and see my other daughter and was told that they were booked but yet the Dr and some of the other staff were in the office chatting about their weekend plans.(At least have the common sense to close the door and not talk so loud) After picking the glasses, we were told the glasses would take 1 week for pick up and they will call when ready. After 1 week we never received a call. We called and they said it would take a couple more days. After waiting a few days we called again and were told that the staff will call when ready and no need for us to call. We waited 3 weeks for the glasses to be ready. I asked why it took so long and we were told that they had sent text messages. I asked the lady why would they send text messages if I never gave them permission to send them and how would they know if the number I gave was a cell or land line. I just got a shrug of her shoulder and gave me the glasses.(Wow not even an apology) This is only barely 1 negative review for my wife and 1 of my daughters because my other daughter also had a bad experience as well. I will never go back to that store!!!

For the last 4 years I’ve gone to the same eye doctor which is close and therefore convenient, however the visits can be pricey. I don’t have a lot of money to spend on glasses at this time. When I broke my foot in October, I also broke my glasses. So for two plus months I was making due with very broken frames. On New Year’s Eve I made a snap decision that I wanted to start 2012 with new frames. I stopped into Texas State Optical on a whim. They took my insurance which is VSP, they were able to squeeze me in for an eye exam. I was in an out in a reasonable amount of time, and the final price was very reasonable. I was also given my prescription to take with me which I haven’t been given in awhile. This TSO is in the shopping center on Westheimer between the The Melting Pot and The Men’s Wearhouse. My glasses came in a decent amount of time, they were priced affordably, and I know can see well. Very happy with my snap decision.
