1 star for price and 3 stars for food I am sorry but 10 $ for a gyro and small amount of fries is ridiculous the food was average However the owner and the boxing pictures are an experience will not be going back as I know I can get better food for cheaper near my work and home

Let’s talk Gyro for a minute. I’m not sure there is a better combination of meat, bread, sauce, and cheese(crumbled feta). I love it and if my hips, blood pressure, cholesterol, and etc would allow it, I would probably eat 2 – 3 weekly.(my boyfriend double that). Mo’s is about a mile and half away from us– good and bad. Mo himself is very nice. The place itself is nothing to write home about but I’m guessing the majority of patrons get their food to go. I highly recommend the Gyro– technically I haven’t had anything else– but the Gyro is where it’s at. It’s huge and full of the delicious lamb meat(lettuce, tomato, tzatziki sauce). If you get the gyro meal– you get the sandwich, choice of fries/onion rings/salad– for about 10 bucks. Yes a little expensive but wait until you see all that meat in that sandwich! Looking for greasy Greek/Gyro in the Med Center check out Mo’s!

Though the place is not that nice, the food is quite good. I’ve only had the chicken Greek salad. They were very generous with the grilled chicken. I told the gentleman at the counter that I felt like eating hummus but I didn’t want to order the $ 5 side as it might be too much. He offered to give me some. He gave me just the right amount to try. It’s good. The salad is served with a steamed pita. It’s delicious.

I tried their falafel gyros recently and I’m hooked on them. Easily the best falafel I’ve ever had. I used to think I didn’t like falafel: I realize I had just been eating bad falafel all this time. Here, it’s crispy on the outside, with the perfect amount of filling density in each bite. The flavors are herbed and delicious. I do love the gyro meat here, but I can’t stop ordering the falafel.

I went here because I was craving good mediterranean food that was reasonably priced near my house. If I wanted to spend $ 15-$ 20 I’d go to Island Grill for something fast, or Fadi’s. I went to Mo’s because with 44 reviews & an average of 4 stars, I thought it couldn’t be bad. Sadly, the only review on here I think I can agree with is Scott L.‘s, and that’s after going here twice! I don’t know if it was good before, but the salad was mediocre at best, and if that’s all I ordered I would’ve given this place 2 or maybe even 3 stars. However, I also ordered the«Spicy» Hummus. If the management of this restaurant reads this review, and only takes one thing to heart; please let it be this: Spicy Hummus is NOT regular Hummus with a drizzle of Sriracha sauce. Quite frankly, that’s the recipe for something that tastes so disgusting I wouldn’t even feed it to my wife’s dog, and I DON’T LIKEMYWIFE’S DOG!!! Being one to give places the benefit of the doubt, I went back there with my brother. He wanted a salad, so I ordered the gyro(also due to prior reviews). I gotta say, some of these reviews must’ve gone to a different Mo’s Knockout Grill, because this gyro was not really cheap, and certainly wasn’t delicious. They loaded it up with so much lettuce and tzaziki sauce that you could barely taste anything else. I felt like I was a rabbit. My brother’s impression of the salad was similar to mine. He didn’t say much, but chunked half the salad in the trash and said he was going to Spicy Pickle. Another restaurant I’d totally recommend over this place. Honestly, I’d give this place 0 stars if that were an option. Fail, total & utter fail.

When Mo’s first opened a few years ago, I went all the time and the food was great. The past couple of times that I have been the quality has really gone down hill and the prices have increased. This past time will be my last time. I had the gyro and fries as always. The gyro was just ok, not as good as it use to be. The meat was dry and tough but at least the pita was fresh as well as the toppings. Like I said just an ok gyro. The fries are the frozen steak style and were just average as well. I also picked up an order of the stuffed grape leaves. They were some of the worst that I have ever had. Very mushy with an odd taste. Ended up throwing them in the trash. Don’t think I will be going back to Mo’s. It’s a shame as the food here use to be great.

Don’t let the sketchy shack like appearance of this place deter you from getting a delicious, cheap gyro here! I eat here way too often. For $ 6 you can get a large gyro — warm pita stuffed with tons of gyro meat(lamb/beef), veggies(lettuce, tomatoes, onion), and tzatziki sauce. Be careful about ordering off the menu because some prices listed are for combo meals which include fries(meh) and a drink but will cost you $ 10. Falafel is crisp and flavorful; gyro meat is spiced and rich so either a falafel or gyro wrap are good choices. If you get a salad version of a sandwich(falafel or gyro), you get pretty much all the same things as the sandwich but with more veggies and it includes the pita too. The Greek salad without falafel or gyro meat is less than 5 bucks and comes dressed with a tasty creamy vinagrette and chunks of feta — the perfect light meal. Also, just something I’ve noticed from experience, if you get a salad, ask for it to-go as I think you get more veggies. Service varies. Sometimes it’s very friendly and prompt. Other times, like when you call in an order close to closing time, it can be rude and impatient. Additionally, though it has a listed closing time of 10pm, you can’t trust this time as they will close earlier if business that day is slow, so be sure to call ahead.

Gyro here is definitely adequate. I ordered just the sandwich because I read reviews on here about how terrible the fries were. Even though it didn’t wow me, for $ 6(including tax) you can not go wrong here. Decently sized and more than enough meat(that’s what she said). Place is really nice and clean, food came out in less than 10 min., guy that worked there was kind and helpful. FYI, couple friends of mine got the philly cheesesteak and said it wasn’t too great so I’d stick with the gyro!

Tried for the first time tonight. Two foreign guys trying to make a go of it. Fast and friendly. Tried their Philly cheese steak — including fries and a drink for $ 9. Quite a bargain! Decent sub — could have used a bit more cheese or cheese whiz. Give these guys a chance!

Let me just start this off by saying my gyro was excellent. The food was great but my problem was the service. I only get 30 minutes for lunch so I usually call my orders to go. I called this place at least 7 times and nobody answered. Finally I decided to drive down there. When I got there, the place was busy but not hectic. I asked the dude(who I think was Mo) working if his phone was down. He said no and that he was just too busy to answer it because he had a very large order that set him back. Mo apologized and said today was just one of those days and I somewhat understand. I’ve waited tables for 6 years and I know how the busy the restaurant business can be, but that is no excuse to ignore your phone. From what I saw, only 2 people were working there total. It is almost impossible to run an efficient restaurant with only two employees. Hire some help! To top off my experience here, they forgot the pita bread with my order of hummus. Like I said, the gyro was excellent but they really should hire at least one more person or have someone on call to help with a busy day. I would hate to see a business with good food fail because of poor service.

Went late so I got kinda dry meat. Frozen fries were cooked well, but tasted awful. Throw some salt on them at least. Cheap, but nothing to go out of your way for

I intended to save half my chicken gyro for dinner… okay, who are we kidding? I ate it a lot faster than I intended, though! I was having a piss-poor day when I walked in and the atmosphere and excellent gyro made me forget my cares for a bit. Mo is the proprietor. Don’t be fooled by the big badass boxer exterior. He is such a sweet, friendly, warm guy. We chatted while I was waiting for my sandwich. He oddly read my mind when I changed my mind from a schwarma to a gyro-«chicken gyro?» he asked with a grin when I tentatively said«Excuse me?» Maybe this situation happens a lot. I slumped into a chair and he asked if it was for there or to go. I apologized for sitting down. I tend to get very jumpy and nervous when I haven’t slept so awkwardness abounds when sleep-deprived Nupur is around. He played it off nicely and said«Oh, you should join us!» Basically, Mo is awesome. He knows how to make you feel like you matter. The gyro was very fresh. The chicken was tender and spiced just enough and the tzatziki was both creamy and tangy. I appreciated that the lettuce and tomato were so fresh but am realizing produce in Texas is much better on average than the sad, wintery excuses for vegetables in New England. Regardless, this was still very fresh produce. Much fresher than it needed to be in a gyro. I read earlier comments about the french fries. These remind me of the french fries from my middle school cafeteria. In other words, comfort food. This is a wholly comforting restaurant, from the bright no-frills interior to the excellent food and caring owner. It’s increasingly rare to find these places so I give Mo five stars for doing what he does. He also punched Mike Tyson! Sheeeeee-et.

Currently working my way through the Gyro Salad(bites in between sentences), and I am SO glad I returned to try their gyro meat! The salad consists of shredded romaine lettuce, chopped tomato, a few kalamata olives(unpitted – beware, tender teeth!), a chunk or two of feta cheese, three large pieces of flatbread, and quite a bit of gyro meat! The gyro meat was considerably less tender on one edge, but we DID stop in around 9:30 on a Saturday night(30 mins before closing), so I’m not super surprised. The bf also really liked his Philly Cheesesteak, which, in an untraditional twist, featured lettuce and tomato in addition to onions. Apparently there was a bit less cheese than your run-of-the-mill P.C., but it was actually better that way.(If you order this, try it with the Sriracha!) Tried the fries again this time– still unseasoned, but more crispy than the last time I came around Our food came out to about $ 14 bucks– yum!

I have lived in Houston for many years, and I was hesitant to eat at Mo’s because I knew it back when it was a burger shack(notorious for health violations). So, it was with cold feet that I entered Mo’s Knockout Grill for a much needed gyro. First impressions? Simple and clean. There are no frills, no dim lights or smokey mirrors. What you see is what you get: a glimpse into Mo himself. He is personable and takes great pride in his establishment, which is evident by the care he takes in preparing the food and the way he genuinely wants every customer to have a good experience. Mo was nice and helpful in suggesting dishes that would compliment our needs(I’m not a big lamb person), so I ordered the chicken gyro and my husband the chicken swarma. My husband loved his food so much he wouldn’t even share ! The serving size was heaping and definitely satisfied a craving. Personally, I think the quality of the food and price make this establishment MUCH better than Biba’s, Niko Niko, and Ya-Ya Mary’s. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone!

Kinda sad I didn’t get to meet Mo. But I met his dad. And pretty much felt like I met Mo because his boxing pictures were plastered all over the walls. His dad’s a lil shy but a sweetie I’m sure. Good cheap gyros — stuffed with meat, tzaziki, and wrapped in a warm pita! Also comes with fries, the fat juicy kind that I swear are the frozen ones that I used to eat in middle school. Still tasty. Chicken is well-seasoned and juicy. The gyros are pretty well-balanced with meat, tzaziki, and everything-else. Legit authentic Greek food for a good price — oh Mo. Knockin’ em out, one gyro at a time.

I had to pick up some medicine from the CVS across the street. I had some time to kill and was starving so looked up a spot within a 5 minute radius. Lucky for me, Mo’s knockout grill was just around the corner. It shares the lot with a gas station and a motel? When you walk in there are only a few tables, some counter space, and a tv with ESPN on it. First thing you notice is it has boxing memorbilia. I think the owner, Mo, used to be a boxer, there are pictures of him on the wall with boxing greats such as Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. As far as the food goes, my gf and I both had the gyro with fries to go. It’s a fair price for 7 bucks you get a gyro and a thing of fries. The gyro was packed with meat, more than I’m used to and the meat was very flavorful and soft, the bread was solid too, and the sauce was the perfect topper. The fries are your fat thick fries. The food came out quick so if you’re in a hurry for lunch this is your spot.

Like an amateur contender in the ring, I’m staggering between a 2-star and 3-star rating here. I’m a ‘mo but the Mo namesake of this eatery is one tough customer: he’s a former boxing champ and has the gloves, belt, and pictures on the wall to prove it. His dad and wife also pitch in to run the place so it can’t get much more«family» than this. After seeing this place in the neighborhood since they opened, I finally dragged myself over to try them out. The parking lot is shared with the Econolodge at the weird confluence of OST(Old Spanish Trail), South Main, and Kirby Drive and within throwing distance to Reliant Stadium. There isn’t much seating: six tables awkwardly placed and with a lunch counter that can seat about 5 people facing the parking lot. Two flat-screens were tuned to ESPN but you’ll have to get used to having people look past your head to watch it if you sit at the lunch counter.(Don’t worry: I survived.) A gentleman(who appeared to be Mo Abdin’s dad) took my order and I think there was a miscommunication in the order process. At first, I ordered a chicken shwarma but then remembered that I wanted a beef and lamb gyro($ 6.99 and comes with fries). Quickly amending the order, Mo’s dad said that the beef and lamb was good and asked if I wanted a drink while pointing to the proximate fountain machine. I declined. The charge came to $ 9.07 including tax but I realized later that I was charged for a fountain drink($ 1.39) that I did not receive. No cup given so no drink drunk. The gyro was tasty if underwhelming: stuffed with meat [that’s what he said!] and coupled with a small amount of lettuce, tomato, onion, and a smidge of sauce, I enjoyed this except I’d have liked more sauce. The fries were the standard out-of-the-bag type but were freshly fried. Why didn’t I protest the extra charge? Two things:(1) The lunch crowd was arriving and the place was filing up with a heavily male crowd and(2) I didn’t want to confront anyone who won a title fight. Call me a chicken but the dude is big. Would I come back? Maybe — but I’d make sure to say«No drink!» quite loudly next time. So, they get a split decision 3-stars since the drink kerfluffle was mostly my fault.

I went here about a month ago, but this is the first chance I’ve gotten to stop and write anything. I was out with a couple of the guys arguing over where to go for lunch. None of us could decide where to go so we just started driving down OST. We spotted this place and while still arguing over whether or not this place was worth trying I made the decision for us by making an abrupt turn into the parking lot, and scaring the pants off the guys. We all order gyros. I as usual was craving hummus so I ordered some as well. The hummus wasn’t to my liking, but then again everyone has a specific opinion on that matter. The gyro was pretty amazing. Nice and meaty with a good flavor. I may have found my new gyro place. Aside from the food the atmosphere was good. It’s a small and friendly environment, and Mo is always willing to strike up a conversation.

Great little lunch spot. I will admit that I was not impressed the first time I went months ago, but it has turned into one of my favorites in the area. The philly cheesesteak is definitely decent, but I’m stuck on the gyros now. He hooks it up fat. Sometimes I can barely fold the pita. Nothing fancy or different, just a solid, delicious gyro sammich. Sometimes I get hummus instead of tzatziki inside because I’m cray-cray like that. The owner is super cool and nice too. He used to be a boxer, hence the name. You can look at his awards and pictures with Mike Tyson and others while you wait, which shouldn’t be long. I’m usually in and out in just a few minutes. TL;DR: If you’re in the Reliant area and crave a gyro, hit this spot up.

It is hard to find good food close to where I live… this recently opened restaurant is a great find! I’ve been twice now. The first time I ordered a gyro combo, which comes with fries and a drink for just 6.99. The gyro meat was moist, the pita was tasty, and the portions were great. The second time I visited, I wasn’t that hungry, so I just ordered an appetizer, the spinach pie. Everything was perfect about it(pastry, spinach…) except for the feta. Haha, I despise feta and didn’t realize it was in the pie because they don’t specify what type of cheese they use. My friend, who DOES like feta, loved it. I’ll definitely be back to try the chicken shawarma and falafel! :)
