Philly cheese steak strombolli is the best! It’s the only thing I want to eat while I am there… until desert, then the chocolate chip cookie dough pizza is where I am headed. It ACTUALLY tastes like cookie dough. Seating is decent but busy during weekday lunch hour can leave you looking for a place to sit. Outdoor patio for those who like breeze by the SW freeway.

Ahh Double Daves, that great Austin establishment. Their pepperoni rolls were the quintessential college food. Meat, bread, and… ranch dressing! So great to see them in Houston. The best pizza buffet in town, bar none. They’ll accommodate any pizza requests within reason, but you have to be quick; those piping hot pies vanish quickly. Huge fan of their stromboli steak finger things. Succulent beef + gooey cheese inside a baked crust = food coma. Their dessert pies(cinnamon sticks and chocolate chip pizza) are really decadent as well. Don’t even bother with the salad bar; less room in your stomach for those delicious pies. Besides, you don’t win friends with salad anyways.

Worth 5* for the perfect mix of customer service AND food quality! Everyone who works there is so friendly and makes the best of your experience. Michael is great, makes sure you have everything you need, remembers your name and runs this place like a champ! As for the fresh veggies, they are great and the shaved mushrooms on the pizza are amazing! Yes, the pepperoni rolls are fab and the cheese that oozes out gets brown and crusty from being cooked! Definitely stop by to experience this place!

I had a lapse of judgement, insane moment when I let my coworkers talk me into going to this place for lunch. For $ 9.75 it is not worth it. The crust was soggy on most of the pizzas except the cracker crust. However the toppings were plentiful and they used fresh mushrooms(and other veggies). The booth seats are all messed up. They have a slant to them which left my feet dangling about 3 inches off of the floor making me feel like Edith Ann… and that’s the truth. Phlllllllllllllllllllt.

So on my day off I was really happy because I was able to actually make it out to Double Dave’s lunch buffet. Yes I was this excited to go to a buffet… the simple things in life. Anyways I have been told it’s one of the best pizza buffets around and puts cici’s to shame! I was hesitant since I’m a huge fan of cici’s since a child. First off this is more pricey than cici’s but you are paying for higher quality food. I started out with trying the pizza of course. Had the grilled chicken, pepperoni, and sausage pizzas. Each of which were covered in toppings. Then I got around to trying the other stuff which sets this buffet apart. Their bread sticks are oh so cheesy, the pizza rolls are simple but great with the ranch sauce, but the thing that puts this over the top is the cheese steak Stromboli!!! The cheese-steak ingredients were better than my previous experience with texadelphia. As far as the dessert goes, everything was great from the cinnamon apple pizza to the chocolate chip pizza. Another point must be made about their sweet tea. They have 4 different types of tea out of 1 dispenser. It has a touch screen and you can choose between sweetened black tea, sweetened green tea, raspberry tea, or just plain unsweetened tea. The first 2 have been some of the best sweet teas I’ve had.

I’m not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but Double Dave’s has 2 pep’roni rolls for the price of 1 on Tuesdays and they’re delicious!(I think that makes it $ 1.49 for 2) My sister and I were too late to make it for the buffet but thankfully it was a Tuesday so we ordered 8 rolls for the price of 4, picked ranch dressing(really good! got 2 big cups of it), and had a very satisfying lunch. We actually could only finish 3 each, but they are still super yum when reheated so it was fine to have leftovers. Just a kind of random note: the man who was operating the front was very friendly, helpful, and almost eerily intuitive, guessing me and my sister’s ages right on the dot, which might not seem like a big deal except for that people always guess about 5+ years too young. that was kinda fun, though, and I will definitely go back for some pep’roni rolls in the future. yum!

So passing by this place many times and never having gone in, my coworkers convinced me to join them for lunch at Double Dave’s. On the drive there, they wouldn’t stop gushing about the lunch buffet and savory pizza rolls… Walking up, the aroma of freshly bakes pizza lingers around you. Mmmmm… as you walk in you’re startled by the yells of the bakers, «One fresh pepperoni coming out!» The lunch buffet is a steal, by the way! All you can eat, pizza, salad and pepperoni rolls and a soft drink for only $ 9.42 including tax! SWEET! The pizzas are really delicious since they make their own dough and I must say, the pepperoni rolls lived up to my expectations! Yum!
