Coldwater Creek

Cheers to the team here for great service — I had never been to a coldwater creek, and while the clothes are fine, it’s the service that set them apart in my mind. Overheard a manager type giving direction to various team members with respect and the advice was oriented to the customer. The store was well organized, and while the clothes certainly aren’t cheap, they aren’t crazy expensive either.
I think of this as Chicos for the ³⁰⁄₄₀ ish of us, clothes wise — everything coordinates, is cut to be fairly flattering to those of us that aren’t perfect, and is relatively comfortable.

You know how when you are young, and you look at what your parents wear and you think «Ugh! Why are they wearing that??». And then as you get older your tastes change in clothing and you eventually find yourself in stores the younger you would have laughed at? That’s Coldwater Creek for me. The teenager Melissa would have been like «Run! It’s old lady clothes!!» but the 30-​something Melissa says «Hey, there are some nice things here.»
I typically shop online or at the Sugar Land location, but I really like this location because of its size (it’s huge) and the non-​pressure saleswomen. I was at Sprinkles cupcakes and decided to pop into Coldwater to see if I could find something that didn’t make me look too matronly. Today i walked in and was greeted by a friendly salesperson. She informed me of the sale that was going on (25% off of absolutely everything in the store and 50% off of jackets). The sale definitely got me interested. I found a few things to try on. I like that each dressing room has a little white board outside of it where they write your name. It saves your room for you in case you go back out to look for something. It also stops those confusing «Miss, how are you doing?» questions and not knowing who they are talking to.
In the end I looked through the knit shirts, light summer sweaters, skirts, etc… and ended up purchasing three items. Things are cheap at this store. A t-​shirt, white tank, and long sleeve cotton cardigan came to $ 167. For me, it’s worth it, but make sure you check prices, some of the items alone can be well over $ 100.
The other thing I love about this store besides the casual feel to the clothes is that their clothes come in sizes XS petite to 3X. And you don’t find the extreme sizes in just a few items, you find them in the vast majority. It makes looking for plus size clothing so much easier!
I’ll definitely be back to this store and I’ll hope they have a good sale going on when I do!
