A rare steak is not an undercooked piece of meat. Vegetables should not be soggy. If you offer chives for a baked potato, they should be fresh and not dried. If you ask if the flavored coffee beverage has dairy, and the server tells you no, I wouldn’t expect it to arrive with a pile of whipped cream on top.

NOT for gluten free people. Waitress acted completely put out when asked if the swordfish was gluten free. No gluten free menu or guide available. She acted as though I was completely wasting her time. Ended up ordering the skewered shrimp. Not much flavor. Husband ordered the pan seared Chilean sea bass. It was battered and fried. Very little & broccoli was terrible. Cold and mushy. Definitely would not go back.

Initial greeting and service were fine. It’s the food we wouldn’t go back for. The specialty porterhouse sandwich was too soggy because it was full of gravy, which wasn’t in its description on the menu. The meat in it was average. The rib eye was chewy and medium-rare was closer to rare. They should also get new menus(the book and plastic pages in it) because the ones they have are old and dirty and falling apart.

The service is outstanding as well as the food! We have eaten here several times now and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere is old world elegance but it’s fine to show up in your shirts and tennis! They have several large party rooms we have discovered and are affiliated with the Dinner Theater next door. Will definitely be returning.

The wait staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was nice enough but the food was poor. The salad was wilted like it had been pre-made the day before and the prime rib was tough as it could be. We would not go back.

After 44 states and twenty years of traveling for business, this is the worst façade of a steakhouse I’ve encountered. Do not eat here. I feed my animals better food.

I wouldn’t even give it one star. Food tasted as though it was pre-cooked and frozen or straight out of a package. The staff was rude and not welcoming from our very first step through the door. I would not recommend this place for anyone or their dog.

This place is bad. I don’t know how they stay in business. We went there years ago and it was terrible. I swore it off. There are no good steak places in HS so we recently tried again. Still bad.

The steaks were OK. Service was very slow !! Service was horrible !! We ate here last year and the service was Excellent! The lobster mashed potatoes were simply mashed potatoes with lobster sauce over! We had to wait on our drinks and on refills. The wait staff acted as if they could of cared less about you being There.

A very busy Valentine’s evening, with reservations, our party of 6 got adequate but unremarkable food and service. My ribeye was tasty but but a little chewy. Vegetables were nicely selected but too soon cold. Good baked potato but we had to ask and wait for toppings. That kind of a night.

The only redeeming quality was the decently cooked steak. Everything else was awful. Appetizers: The«crab» stuffed mushroom was made with krab. It was so fishy tasting I took one bite and that was it. The onion blossom was chunks of onion. It didn’t blossom very well. The lettuce in the Cesar salad was wilted and chewy. My sister ordered the sampler platter and it was so unappetizing looking that they barely touched it. Also, DONOT order the house dressing. It is a mixture of avocado and honey mustard and it looks like green baby poo. While the steaks were well seasoned and cooked as ordered the ribeye was very thin with almost no sweet bread to it. All in all the place is not a winner at all. Don’t waste your time and money.

We went on a whim to eat on Friday night after the races. There were 4 in our party and everyone ordered steak except me. I had the crab cakes for my appetizer and they were not really to my taste… too fluffy. I want to see lumps of crab on my cakes. Everyone that had steak loved it. My friend had the gorgonzola/shrimp sauce on her steak and said it was the best ever!!! The wait staff was not too friendly, but warmed up after we were there awhile. All in all we enjoyed our experience.

I really debated on 2 or 3 stars… but there just wasn’t enough redeeming qualities for me to want to go back. This place got a few REALLY bad reviews and I felt maybe not so deserved. I wanted to like them more, based on the outside appearance which is really nice. Inside, yes, it’s OLD. But in old, there can be bad too. A lot of old white which was smoked in for God knows how many years has faded to a dingy yellow, and the dark furnishings and dim lighting don’t do much to help that. It almost magnifies how dingy the old walls and ceiling are. Being from Michigan, I thought the prices were AMAZING! The menu is nice and they had a nice beer and wine selection. The place was DEAD when we got there for dinner on a Tuesday around 5:30, which is never a good sign. Our waiter was nice, but then again when you’re the only table in the place that is pretty easy. The BF and his brother ordered bone-in ribeye and I ordered the prime rib(special $ 16.95). The dinners come with salad and potato and vegetable. We were really curious about the lobster mashed potatoes, so we ordered a side of those to try as well. Their«house» dressing is avocado based, which I found REALLY bizarre and went with ranch. The salad was gross, I can’t lie. The ranch is bottled(yuck) and the poor wilty greens looked as they were pulled from the back yard down the street. I didn’t eat mine. The BF commented that the avocado dressing was sweet but good. I didn’t try it. Dinner came out and we all were impressed by the looks of the plates. I have never had a seared prime rib, and that was kind of interesting, although of course it was overcooked due to this. The lobster mash was just plain mash with lobster soup poured on top of it. What a waste of money for that. The veggies were what veggies are, and the meal itself was just OK to me. It’s a shame though because this place has a great location downtown, and they could be making a killing if they just join the times and do some updates, both inside and on the menu. ?Dingy!

We stopped by on a whim. They were featuring a deal of an app, meal and dessert for 13.00. The coconut shrimp was tasty and my steak was huge. I found some servers were quiet but I think they were supposed to be quiet. All in all. Good meal for the price and a good experience.

I Should have listened to the reviews and the locals. My father an I rode up to Hot Springs from Dallas and came in for a good steak… or so we thought. The server was inattentive at best. We both ordered a prime rib cooked medium. No seasoning and very bland veggies. I must admit, the baked potato was very good but only after we had to wait an extra 10 minutes to receive the«fixins.» Altogether a very bad experience and an even worse steak.

Food was good but the service was lukewarm at best. The filet mignon was juicy and cooked as ordered and the sides of fresh vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes were well-prepared and delicious. The t-bone special was equally well done. However, the server seemed somewhat disinterested in our presence — offering barely basic questions and comments. I expected far more(generally) but particularly more for the price.

We come to the Porterhouse when we want steak. There’s no other reason to come here. And it’s either packed to the gills or completely empty — there’s no in between. Art Walk nights, it’s always packed. I winced when I read some of the other Unilocal, but I will always support the Porterhouse. Without bragging or making a fuss the owner feeds steak to firemen, officers and ambulance crew during long parade days. The good: ‘The Porterhouse for Two’ it’s $ 48.00 and it’s 50 ounces of steak. I brought four people to the restaurant to eat this and we still needed a doggie bag. The cuts are thick and this is what they do best. The Lobster Bisque is good. The French Onion is better. The bad: I’ve had their bread when it’s fresh and fabulous and when it’s less-than-fabulous. It’s not pesto sauce for the bread, it’s oil and olive mix — and I’m not a fan. I really think they should use pesto instead of olives. They have a scant non-alcoholic offering. Not everyone’s looking to tie one one. My waiter offered me a Shirley Temple. Really? If you want a cappuccino or latte, you’ll wait longer because they have to run down to Belle Arte for it.

I only gave this establishment one star because zero was not an option. Worst dining experience EVER. Poor service, bland, overcooked food. Way overpriced. This place is THEREASON I opened a Unilocal account. Right there at the table, during my meal. Had to get the word out– go to Grannys across the street. The food is worse but at least it’s a fun time on karaōke night!

We were in Hot Springs for the Horse races and my wife’s birthday with another couple. We arrived at 6:30 without reservations and were seated immediately. We had the busiest server and he did a good job, but seemed disappointed that we weren’t having drinks or wine. We each ordered steak, the ladies filet, I had the porterhouse and our good friend had the bone in ribeye. The ribeye was the only steak that was cook properly. I enjoy my steak pink throughout medium mine was pink in the very center medium well. My wife’s filet was supposed to be medium and it was crusty on the outside and clearly medium well. The taste was ok, but was under seasoned. Veggies were a combination of mushy squash and some other veggies. Potato was great. Crème Brûlée was tasty, chocolate cake was dry with way to much rasberry smeared on it.
