Enjoyed our breakfast here. Eggs were way better than the pancake place down the street. Service was great and very friendly. Decent hash browns and biscuits. Amazing grits! My husband said his ham was very good.

Visit Friday, April 22, 3:20pm. First visit. Two people, no beverage, no appetizer, no dessert — $ 23 before tip. Only one server/cashier, not friendly, was probably run ragged! Great chopped beef with onions and mushrooms and brown gravy. Delicious and well-prepared, a dish the cook should be proud to serve and one I was very happy to eat. My husband liked his cheeseburger and fries. Don’t order the frozen, pre-breaded, deep-fried squash slices. If you like sweet cornbread, fine. I don’t! Would order the chopped beef again, but not the squash or mashed potatoes(cold). Large portions.

This was the worst attention paid to a customer I think I have seen. There were about 15 customers inside. Was told to take a seat anywhere when I went inside. I sat down. Waited about 10 minutes as I watched everyone being served and waited on — no issues just figured they were busy. Then, watched 2 sets of couples come in separately and immediately given — one set at a time as they sat down at different tables — menus and asked what they want to drink. 25 minute wait sitting at a table with nothing only to see other people immediately served when they came in. Not a happy camper and got up and left. Still nothing said to me the entire time.

Watched three tables order food, receive food, eat food, and leave before our table of four received our food. It came after we got up to pay for drinks and were preparing to leave. Never got a refill on drinks. And eggs were not cooked as ordered. We won’t be back

2.5 stars– Kinda janky though and an awful long wait for simple bacon and eggs for two. Staff is extremely slow and pretty much demanded a tip as we checked out.

I will never understand why, in today’s day and age of social media networking and reviews, that restaurants don’t strive harder. This place is terrible, and unless you are a ‘regular local’, you are treated as an outsider. I cannot believe we wasted our money for the crappy, overpriced TV Dinner. That’s all it was. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Good God. It. Was. The. Worst. Experience. I. Have. Ever. Had.

Great cobbler! We were in town for a treat for the kids. We were looking for pie or other bakery treats. We were going to pass by due to the less than stellar rating but as we passed by we stopped and read the menu. We saw cobbler and decided to go in. We each ordered cobbler and ice cream. The fillings were from a can but it is March and fruit is not in season so can works. The best part is the crust. Just like a pie. Very tasty. The service is a little sketchy but the cobbler was worth the stop. Tax Note: sales tax on food is like 12% because this is located in a national park. Ouch.

We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. Restaurant was clean and service was quick and friendly. I had the five cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was delicious. Prices are very reasonable and restaurant is in a great location.

Stopped in without looking at reviews. We were hungry, it was here… Got the nachos. Big yes, but not my favorite. Main topping is a very thick very tomatoey chili. Just not my style. Burger was excellent. Onion ring and okra were good too. Wish a little less of the menu was fried. The place does the job…

This food is sub-par at best. My significant other chose cornbread to go with his meal. When he offered me a bite, I was overwhelmed with the smell of rotting food! When I politely brought this up with our waitress, she offered another piece. We refused, as we were done eating, and asked her to just discount his meal. She proceeded to argue with us that the cornbread came free with the meal, so she wouldn’t offer us a discount. I then politely said, «Ma’am, regardless, you just served us rotten food.» She continued to argue, and had a fellow waitress sniff the food. The other waitress advised her to comp us 89 cents for the cornbread, and no apology! Skip this place, if you want to save yourself the trouble.

First off, when we walked in, the waitresses acted like they were annoyed that we were there. After we ordered, our waitress didn’t check on us once even though all of our drinks were empty. Then it took over 45 minutes to get our food. Four of us were eating, and the waitress brought out only three meals. She forgot an entire meal! The food was cold and dry and not worth the wait. Don’t waste your time.

This place is cute as a button! The waitresses even refer to the owner as Granny and Granny DOES use her own recipes despite some of the other Unilocal reviews suggest. Granny also reads Unilocal apparently and takes constructive criticism. So my review is based on my visit today. My friends and I stopped in on a whim and I went for breakfast for lunch with a side of fried okra because I can’t not have fried okra and she had grilled chicken with green beans and sweet potato fries. First…I have to tell you about the best, most juicy grilled chicken I may have ever eaten. Lord have mercy! My friend shared and it was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and just awesome. She also LOVED the green beans. She loved how they were seasoned. The fries were pretty good too. My food was sadly just okay. The eggs were a little overdone for my taste and the bacon seemed as if had been sitting out for who knows how long(granted it was 1:40 p.m.). The hash browns were delicious but super super greasy underneath. The okra I will say was pretty good. Not life changing not solid. I have to say that another stand out of our visit was the waitress Emily. She is fantastic! We had tons of questions and she was very friendly and helpful. Her bubbly personality is contagious and we continued to talk about how cute she was throughout the day! If you go to Granny’s you will not be disappointed!

I don’t think this place cooks their food at all. Restaurants that are cooking usually have the smell of food being cooked when you walk in. It doesn’t smell like food at all seriously. Granny needs to start cooking instead of heating. I had the gumbo soup and it was way too salty and cold and the chili you can tell it wasn’t cooked since one side was warm and the other side was cold literally. It was probably not the best thing I ever had. I’ll decided to try this place out since I’m so for small unique restaurants and it would have been hellla cool but it was quite disappointing to say the least. It was a trip. I ate at many restaurants through out the world this probably sets a new record of being lowest of the low.

Food is very good and portions are generous. Servers are freindly and attentive. Breakfast is served until 2:00PM. The food is just as granny would make.

Apparently, Granny never learned how to make homemade food, since she ordered prepackaged food to prepare the meals. And it wasn’t even Sysco good prepackaged food. Our waitress was SUPER sweet and funny and I would give her five stars. The food and the problems are the reason for one star. I had a veggie plate that included 5 choices of different sides and cornbread. I didn’t want 5 sides, but they won’t let adults order the kid’s 4 side meals. Anyway, I wanted three sides, but it would have been the same price as the veggie plate. I ordered mac & cheese, pinto beans, smashed potatoes, fried squash and turnip greens. None of the veggies contained meat, so I was happy about that. My boyfriend ordered the special, which was fried pork tenderloin, applesauce and red beans and rice. The mac & cheese and pintos were actually fine, but not wonderful. The macaroni shells were cooked perfectly and I think they threw a couple of pieces of American cheese over them, but they weren’t too bad. The pintos were very good. They were nicely spiced. The squash came straight out of a package. I love REAL fried squash, but these appeared to be mushy sauce double battered in perfect thick medallions. The only flavor was the grease on the batter. I gagged when I tasted the turnip greens. The smashed potatoes had that grainy taste of frozen potatoes. The cornbread nearly killed me. I think it should be illegal to add sugar to cornbread. It was so sweet that I think I actually felt sugar granules crunch between my teeth. My boyfriend’s fried pork tenderloin scared me. It was nearly the size of his plate and flat as a pancake. I wish I had taken a picture. Even if I ate pork, I wouldn’t touch this with a ten foot pole. He ate it though and said that it was edible. He said it was good with the applesauce, since it made it moist and more chewable. He said the red beans and rice were okay, but how do you go wrong with that? When it was time to leave, the waitress came over and said«Did you not like your food?» I told her that the pintos and mac & cheese were good. She then asked me if I wanted a doggy bag. I wanted to tell her that my doggy wouldn’t even eat that«food.» We saw two people wait for over ten minutes to pay their check. There is no cashier. There is a waitress that occasionally stopped to check people out. We waited for over five minutes to pay our check. I REALLY wish that I had read the Unilocal reviews before visiting this restaurant.

Well, when I walked in the door their were quite a few people in there, but only 2 people working. One girl yelled across the room, «do you want to eat or just get a shaved ice?» Well, we knew with only 2 people working that we weren’t going to get good service with them running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Even when we just got the shaved ice they were rushing us and was short with us. So, I just got 2 snow cones and a peach cobbler. I have to say that the cobbler was pretty good, and I do recommend that. The place was cluttered and quite dirty.

Oh my! I am still having nightmares over that ‘meal’. When we asked what was good the waitress told us of the fried steak which was doubly battered, as thick as this and as big as her face. The gumbo, as well as the tomato soup where«made from scratch»! So we had those. By made from scratch she meant: open a can of tomato paste and stir in some water. Or in the case of the gumbo: pre cooked rice with canned sausage and frozen shrimp. The cobbler was a very sad version of a clobbered pie in a bowl… Also«made from scratch by granny» and also absolutely uneatable. The place has its charm and there are weird Barbie collectibles around. But a good meal? Not there.

Just eh… the staff was just ok! They served VERYSWEET dark tea, which I liked just fine & onion rings with a slight hint of freezer as they cooled! Blue cheese was vinegary. They HANDED my Husband’s beer to him in a bottle, with no glass and I think he had to twist it off himself! Floor was sticky over by the waitress station… where they served shaved ice to the kids… & is almost $ 15 high for those 3 items? Overall Eh, experience!
