Had the hickory BBQ bacon burger… the bun was toasted just right… no sogginess to this sandwich at all… The veggies covered the whole burger! Just the right amount of hickory flavor and the bacon is the good thick cut bacon THECOLONIAL is known for. Service A plus, cleanliness A plus. Treat yourself in downtown hot springs today!

Food was great! The route to the bathroom is through the kitchen which is kinda awkward. This place has just the right portion for all appetites.

Was looking for a local dive in Hot Springs and found it with this place. The owner is nice as can be and runs a great restaurant. The only downside was the wait. Came in around 12:45PM and ordered our food immediately and didn’t come to the table until 1:30PM. It was just me and my friend and we didn’t order anything special. It just appears that larger groups take prescience over parties of two. Other than that the food was good and restaurant had that local dive feel.

Consistently awesome! The hubs and I have been coming here for breakfast as a lil Sunday love every now and then for ab 3 years and we always greeted like friends. I always get the same thing, because their waffles are amazing. It’s cute, quaint, and delish!

Wonderful staff. Food even better! I had an omelet with spinach, Kalamata olives and tomatoes pan seared in olive oil. It was sooooooooh good. Husband had the scout after seeing a photo of it on Unilocal. Was not misled on this choice. Bring cash for tips because the service deserves it and they don’t add tips to any card, credit or debit. You can pay for the meal with a card, just can’t add tips.

Service with a smile and great breakfast! Found this gem by accident and will be back! I had the Ham and my husband had the sausage – both were phenomenal!

The atmosphere is homey and the food that comes out of their tiny kitchen is consistently amazing. We eat here almost every Saturday and Sunday morning, plus once or twice a week for lunch. The staff are great, including three waitresses whose names all begin with the letter«A.» The coffee is smooth and delicious, and they cut no corners on the quality of the food they serve. The building is small and big trucks can’t get in behind it. That means that deliveries come through the front door, so I have watched drivers wheel in boxes of name brand foods several times, and I recognize them as high quality. This is a tourist town, and the Colonial is right in the middle of the fray. Convenient for tourists, but locals often tell me they don’t know it’s here. I promise that they don’t know what they’re missing!

Great place for breakfast with friends or family! The pancakes are super soft and fluffy and their bacon is perfectly cooked. Can get a little crowded, though, since it’s not a super big place and is pretty popular.

My husband and I are new to the area, every time we have visited we usually eat at this sweet place. We have now moved here and we went in the other day, the food is good but I happened to look to the side and saw all this rebel flag and other confederate stuff on the wall, that wAs it for us. As the owner he is allowed to have whatever he wants on the wall, but we won’t be back.

A good breakfast with a nice country atmosphere. Waitress was very nice and attentive. You can not tip on your credit card if paying with that. So make sure you have some cash for tip. No wait

I would rank this place on par with The Pancake Shop, though the coffee isn’t quite as good. I had the adult waffle special with sausage. The eggs were fine but undercooked — ordered over medium but they were over easy at best. The sausage and waffle made up for it — spicy, crispy sausage full of flavor and a fluffy, crisp waffle. They were understaffed during my visit so I was a bit disappointed by the service; took forever to get hot sauce and a coffee warm up, and never received the jam I requested for my waffle. The servers were clearly harried, so I’m giving them a pass for it today!

Went here for breakfast today. The owner is super sweet and introduces himself as you walk in. Parking super stinks in the whole area. Good luck finding street parking. We were told you can park at the Magestic Hotel’s parking garage bc it had burned down and is closed. There is also a free lot further down the road. I got the breakfast burrito(bacon, egg, and cheese). I added a side of breakfast potatoes with peppers and onions. The burrito… errrrmiiigaahhhhshhhh! Maybe the best I have EVER had. I don’t know how they make it so creamy?! The potatoes on the other hand were a big flop. They were dry, over cooked, and fried(which I didn’t think they would be because a different option on the menu was diced fried potatoes). No problem though because they kindly took it off my ticket. My friend got they kids’ plate with a sunny-side up egg, turkey sausage patty, and a huge(100 year old recipe) pancake. She said it was the best pancake she had ever had! Great place! Loses one star for parking and potatoes.

Dropped in for a late breakfast and coffee. Friendly staff, excellent western omelette and wife’s eggs and toast were perfect. All under $ 22. What’s not to like? Well, you have to walk through the kitchen to the«historic» restroom(this is a very old building). Downside? A little too«historic.» Upside? Kitchen has to be clean and it was. All good.

Frankly I can’t say enough good things about this place. While I have been aware of it for many years, it was not until the last weekend that I tried it out. Then we tried it out again! It’s a cozy place that no doubt adds to the feeling of hospitality. I had the Hungry Man breakfast on BOTH occasions. This consisted of two biscuits with a gravy boat of gravy, two pieces of sausage(your choice of patty or link), two pieces of bacon, two eggs and your choice of potatoes. It was really marvelous all around. The biscuits were fluffy and fresh. The bacon was a nice thick cut on both occasions and not overcooked, which can be difficult to do with thick bacon. I had the link sausage and it was tasty. One of my dinner companions had the patty and it was great as well, not greasy and high quality. The eggs came exactly as I asked for them. I had the hash browns, they were top notch as well. The gravy was good but had a distinctive flavor I just could not place. I liked how it came in a gravy boat so I could control how much was on my biscuit. On my second visit I had the exact same meal but added coffee and a single waffle. The coffee was some of the best I’ve had in a while. The waffle had a slight nutty flavor that was unexpected and quite good. Did I enjoy it? You better believe it! It’s my new«go to» breakfast place in Hot Springs!

Very disappointed :( Don’t expect anything fresh or natural. I order a hot tea with lemon. They bring a little pouch of concentrate lemon juice with high fructose corn syrup«honey»… And the water was not even hot! Choice of pancakes with lots if different«flavor». No real fruit, just jam or purée from a jar added on the pancake. At least they have buckwheat pancake :)

Came here for breakfast on recommendation of my hotel. They said the food was just as good as the pancake shop but with potatoes. The waitress was sweet, attentive and extremely helpful. I think the food was good in a country kitchen kind of way. Now the kicker was the owner. I wanted to order a meal where all components were piled on top of each other. He said that I couldn’t have them on a separate plate and not stacked because it lead to more dirty plates. Blank stare. Are you washing the plates in the natural awesome healing mineral water!!! I was so pissed I wanted to leave. Then — get this — he goes outside(it’s February in the middle of a snow storm). He comes inside and makes a comment to me and puts his cold hands on my face and neck!!! Umm sexual assault. Now I’m pissed and you are risking the maintenance of my(dare I say) flawless complexion. Anger. If you want a decent meal but have no customer service then come here. Good riddens.
