Visiting family in the area and was planning on going to Cracker Barrel but it full up as usual. Happened to find this place off the beaten path and we weren’t disappointed! Very friendly service, food was great, and the coffee was to die for! Just wish they’d sell they’re coffee mugs with their logo on them… I’d definitely buy at least one!

Five stars is for the service. Paula was our waitress and she was great! The food was really good. I liked the breakfast combinations they offered a lot. The atmosphere was really great. They have a lot of regulars. At one point while we were there they saw a customer pull into the parking lot and had his drink waiting on him when he came inside. When we walked in our waitress was waiting for us with menus in her hand. It was slow this morning due to the time period we were there, but they are packed on Saturdays and Sundays. They serve breakfast all day long and Paula said the hamburgers are really good as well. It’s also very clean. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Sorry guys but you failed… Your mashed potatoes are instant for gods sake! First off I am never in this area and happened to be around lunch, so I relied on Unilocal for some good eats but was let down. This review is based on lunch… I love a greasy spoon, mom and pop diner, but a little love typically goes into the food. This was an instant, canned food experience. I ordered the hamburger steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, and northern beans.
Hamburger Steak– dry and overcooked
Gravy– instant
Mashed potatoes– instant
Northern beans– canned
I am giving two stars only because the waitresses were very nice. Regarding a real food review, I have had much better at a hospital cafeteria.

I really had high hopes going in based on other Unilocalers. We were a bit disappointed. The pancakes were raw in the middle and the grits were the worst we ever ate… shocking for the South. They were really nice and apologetic, which is the reason I did not rate it lower. Maybe it was just an off day.

We keep coming back for the bread pudding. They don’t have it every day, but we always ask just to be sure. Some times it is available when it is not on display. The food is always good and plentiful; the bread pudding is special.

If you don’t feel like driving to Memphis to enjoy a good southern breakfast, this is the place to go. Huge portions, affordable prices, and one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had! Food was a little on the greasy side, but it is fresh and hot!

Evan’s is a dream come true if you like great steak. When you order, the owner hand cuts your steak — not 12 hours before like other places. This means that it is juicy! I wish I could insert Andy Griffith saying «yu-​um-​um-​mmy!» That’s how good it is.
He also has a very fresh salad bar with homemade dressing that is fantastic.
I love good steak, so I love Evan’s — its the best steak house in Memphis for taste, bar none.
