Boring selection of rolls and they are made way too big. Most have way too much rice and are very bland. I only go here occasionally when Osaka is closed on Mondays… the rainbow roll is decent(can’t really mess that one up!) other than that I do not recommend it for real sushi lovers!

The food’s okay but they give very small portions and it’s pricey. Not worth the money.

Have been serval times. Great option just off 280. The food has been excellent each visit. The service was good the first time but extremely slow the second. Will be back to try again.

This is the best sushi and noodle place in Bham. Jinsei is way overpriced and no better. I’ve tried them all and the only one that might b better than this place is Okinawa.

Great food, beautiful setting, excellent service. I’m a freak for Korean cooking, so naturally I had to seek this place out. I wasn’t disappointed, it was just outstanding, and we’ll be back again and again. We started with the spicy tuna, probably the best I’ve ever had. I had to throttle my natural resistance to order everything on the menu, but I held fast to Galbi and Chicken Bulgogi. That was the correct call. My daughter had the Shrimp Teriyaki and raved about it. I had a side of house made Kimchi that left me drooling for more. Also the house salad with their homemade ginger dressing was just so delicious in its simplicity. A first class experience, on the pricey side but I get it. 4.5 Stars.

We were seated in the very first table every waiter had to pass us to attend other tables. We sat for a few mins finally manager came over and took our drink order, 10mins later a girl walked up, said«do we know what we want» no hi I’m —- I will be waiting on you no have you ben here before then we watched our food be delivered to another table, we are, no refill of drinks and after sitting at an empty plate of sushi we had to ask 3people for our check. The only reason it received 3stars is because the food was good

I’m not sure why this restaurant only got 3.5 stars :/This place has THEBEST sushi at a great price. Of course, there is Jinsei Sushi in Homewood that has, probably the best sushi in Birmingham in my opinion. But, you’re also going to leave with a $ 50+ tab for one person at Jinsei. For great sushi at an excellent price, Ginza is amazing: D

Atmosphere: 5⁄5 Service: 5⁄5 Food: 3⁄5 My fiancée and I were hungry for some Asian food. Our original plan was to grab phở from Saigon Noodle House, but they closed at 8pm! We Unilocaled another restaurant and ended up here. It’s located off the 280. First impression… the parking lot needs a lot more lights! It’s WAY too dark. The inside of the restaurant surprised me! It’s well kept and nicely decorated. The service was excellent(attentive, fast, accomodating). The menu is like any basic Korean/Sushi restaurant so I didn’t have high expectations. We ordered some bulgogi, galbi, dak gui, soft shell crab, and the Red Dragon Roll. The KBBQ was okay. It reminds me of Shila in Miami. The crab was also a standard dish. What impressed me was the sushi. It’s not an authentic roll, BUT it was a very YUMMY roll. Topped with tuna and scallops on the middle… oh boy. I think found my sushi spot in town. Next time, I’m trying the stews. I’m pretty picky with my Korean food because San Francisco spoiled me. I’ll definitely go back for sushi though! Keep up the excellent service Ginza!

I ordered the Kalbi which was pretty delicious! I just wished the waiters were more informative when asked about certain dishes and what they were made of. That was a little troubling especially when the meal was on the pricey side.

Asked the waiter for a recommendation between two choices on the menu. Waiter told me a dish was his favourite so I opted to order it. Waiter comes back 15 minutes later and asks«how is it? I’ve never tried it before» Pretty much sums up the entire experience. Atmosphere was nice, service not so great, and food was average at best.

Sadly, the food is good… if it will ever get to you. Service is just piss poor. I wasted 15 min on my lunch break today even waiting on someone to bring me a water. They just need to train their staff better. Oh well… sadly, there are better options in this area for sushi now. Good luck Ginza.

I consider myself a sushi connoisseur, and this place, in my opinion, is hands down the best sushi in Birmingham. The head chefs are meticulous about the quality/source of their fish, and they don’t take any shortcuts when it comes to preparation or delivery. The waitstaff is typically youthful and may come across as inexperienced(i.e. they may not anticipate that re-fill), but as long as you are assertive, it won’t dampen your experience whatsoever. This place has an incredibly loyal customer-base, and the chefs – especially«Don” – are incredibly hospitable.

My husband, son and I had dinner here last night. It is a very nice looking restuarant. Our waitress was super helpful since we were not familiar with Korean food. My son enjoyed the teriyaki salmon, but did not care for the rice or vegetables. I had the bbq combo with beef ribs and chicken and it was good but not great. My husband enjoyed a Korean dish again good, not great. If we try again we might go for the sushi since that seems to be more a hit based on other reviews.

A long time favorite restaurant of the wife and mine… When we started scouting BHam back in 2007 as our potential future home, we were fortunately to randomly pass this place while apartment hunting… On the way out of town we stopped in and ordered a TON of sushi — coming from a small town with no sushi, we had no choice… Boy, did we mess up — on that day we formed an addiction that we’ve been unable to shake since… Generally no less than twice a month we have to go in for our fix — literally, twice a month, most every month since Dec. 2007. It’s.that.good. While I can’t speak for much other than sushi as that’s pretty much all I ever order, this is my go to spot when I am in the mood for some tasty raw fishes… Of course the tuna is delicious. And the red snapper. Oh. I am starting to drool writing this… Our goto for here is usually the following: A spicy tuna roll or 2(fav place for them)… Have to have a couple orders of tuna nigiri. A couple orders of red snapper nigiri. Usually an order of some random nigiri to sample. Order of the beef tataki — soooo good… Couple of the house salads — dressing is GREAT! And a kettle(or 2) of the large warm sake… Perfect meal… My only complaint is that I have to waddle to the car afterwards… If you’ve not gone, do yourself a favor and set a date — you won’t regret it!

My favorite sushi place in birmingham. The bama roll is my favorite. I have also had appetizers there and they are fantastic.

The lunch special was $ 10 for a fried pork cutlet, some side salad, and a scoop of rice. I was hoping I’d see a little bit more than that. The food relies on their dressing. Nothing tastes like anything without it. They left out the katsu sauce with my to-go order. It didn’t help that the tonkatsu was stale and really tough to chew on. I felt like by the end of the meal, I didn’t really eat anything. The only thing that tasted remotely decent was the generic salad dressing that is often provided at every other Japanese restaurant. Don’t order the bento boxes here. I’m sure their other food is great. I would come back here just based on the other options available, not to mention their atmosphere is very lovely and intimate. It’s just disappointing that the one item I ordered wasn’t even as good as leftover fast food chicken nuggets.

I love the sushi! I have had the bbq before and it is really good and fun too. The wine is really really bad. I think it’s boxed wine. It’s not worth the $ for that for sure. Which is a shame Bc I really enjoy white wine with sushi. I ordered sushi rolls that were not on the menu and they sushi chef was able to make them deliciously.
