Wine Down Wednesday was a success. They have decent list of half off wine on Wednesday nights which is why we went with another couple. Had an amazing salad and tried the smoked Tuna dip. Salad was great tuna dip was not. They need to use the tuna dip from their other restaurant Five because it is amazing. Service was very friendly and attentive. We set out side at the atmosphere was awesome!

Really like this place. The decorations are are unique and fun. Pretty dark inside. I have never eaten in the outdoor area but it looks super comfy and fun. The bathrooms are clean and work. Be careful in the men’s bathroom as the water coming out of the tap in the sink has super high pressure. It can and will splash on you. The food is amazing. So fresh and cooked correctly every time. My wife has been more then me but between the two of us we have loved everything we have ordered. Good wine selection and tasty sweet tea.

Amazing Sushi! The best in Birmingham by far! My wife and I have been to EVERY sushi place in Birmingham and nothing can compare to Chucks sushi. The rice and fish are so fresh, and the flavors are perfectly paired! We now go every Wednesday night and can’t get enough!

Meh. Not worth the money. $ 36 for grouper, skinny asparagus, and risotto. Grouper was Ok, asparagus was not, and the risotto was not prepared correctly. The bread pudding is no where near Bellini’s and the chocolate crème brûlée tasted like grocery store pudding. The coffee had a weird garlic after taste. Go downtown for dinner.

Another great dinner at Chuck’s this evening. We go with another couple every few months. This meal was no different than the others. The crab cakes were great. The fresh fish of the day was very well prepared(Mahi). The sushi was like always — expertly done. All we can say is thank you… Every time we visit we know that it will be a consistent enjoyable meal. See you in September.

I’ve been to Chuck’s since it opened. As of the past year and a half I’ve visited quite frequently and with no disappointment. Never, have I had an issue with any item I’ve ever ordered. Sometimes we’ll eat just sushi or get sushi as an appetizer and order entrees, just depends. They have several great craft cocktails as well. Chris and Terry do an outstanding job of cranking out sushi for the entire restaurant, while juggling interaction with their clientele at the sushi bar. The entire staff is very attentive from managers to servers. I personally love the ambiance chuck’s sets with low lighting, candle lit tables, and the lack of an abundance of fluorescent lighting. The food is top notch, from the ribeye to the stuffed shrimp, you can’t go wrong. To finish off your meal, the deserts are all great(I suggest the white chocolate bread pudding, trust me, and they usually have a home made cheesecake of some sort). I’d give Chuck’s 8 stars if I could.

Combine wonderful atmosphere and great food and you have Chuck’s. Never been disappointed with the food and the bread pudding is the perfect way to end a meal.

Chuck’s has some of the best sushi in town. My favorite rolls are the Amazon, Roll Tide, and Rainbow. The service on the other hand leaves something to be desired. During my most recent visit I sat at the bar and was«attended» to by the bartender, Brittany. My girlfriend and I seemed to be more of an annoyance than welcomed guests. I asked for miso soup(which is complimentary at the sushi bar) and Brittany stated that there would be a charge. When I asked if I could walk over to the sushi bar to get a complimentary bowl for myself she stated that«it’s not very expensive». I love the food at Chuck’s but I advise getting a table or sitting at the sushi bar. I’ve encountered Brittany and her lack of enthusiasm on more than one occasion but I won’t make the mistake of sitting at her bar again.

For some reason Chuck’s Fish thinks they are the«it» place to dine here in N. Shelby County — I think not. I have tried, ever since they opened, to love this place, but the food, atmosphere and attitude of the hostess and one of the bartenders seems to continually fall short of simple expectations. The place is terribly loud, for starters. But the menu and service are what really turn me off. I realize that some items, like the Uptown Shrimp, have to remain on the menu if they’re all time favorites, but menu doesn’t change and the entrees are getting old and«tired». At between $ 6(spring rolls) and $ 15, the appetizer menu is very high priced. Basic, no frills salads are $ 6-$ 8, and my wedge(how do you screw up a wedge?) was served with soggy, sticky lettuce and smothered in dressing. I have opted for a pc of fish the past few times we have tried Chuck’s(which are at market price), but the last two times we visited, it was clear that the bartender had put the order in at the same time she put our sushi and salad order in because the sushi and salad came out at the same time, and my fish was barely room temp, and dry like it had been sitting there a while. You have to watch out for the specials — There’s always something that sounds absolutely wonderful and when you get the bill, you’re in shock! I will agree that the sushi menu is vast — There are probably 40 rolls on the menu which range from $ 9-$ 16(and you can also get Nigiri and Sashimi) — But it’s terribly unappetizing when it comes to the table — the poor plating is a non starter for me! One could definitely plate sushi up to be something creative and cool — they don’t even try here. It’s just a roll cut up and plopped onto a plate. And if you’re with others(we were with another couple), they ENTIRE sushi order came out on a plate together. I had no idea what I was eating because it all looked and tasted the same. If all that doesn’t get you the clientele will — you’re going to get an eyeful of the 60 year old cougars dry humping the«i just got back from the gym» 40-somethings at the bar. ew.

What a sushi smörgåsbord we had tonight! I had Chuck’s sushi Chef’s Chris and Terry serve a feast of assorted sushi. Do yourself a favor if you like sushi and ask the sushi Chef’s Chris and or Terry to just fix you whatever they would fix themselves that’s fresh. We started with miso soup, seaweed salad & edamame. Very Good! We then had octopus and yellow fin tuna salad made that Chef Chris made up with spicy with chili & sesame oil, cucumbers, etc. Fabulous! We also had fat slices of tuna on rice with spices accompanied with a fresh water ell hand rolls that were absolutely delicious! Best Sushi in town!

This has become one of my favorite restaurants in all of Birmingham. No matter what you have to order the white chocolate bread pudding. I don’t like bread pudding but this is magical!!!

Decent food and service but I’m not sure it is as good as they think it is. Nice ambience — minus the snooty, pretentious diners that seem to be drawn to this particular establishment. Overpriced for what you’re getting. There is nothing wrong with Chuck’s, it’s just that there’s not much right either. I enjoyed it, just not enough that I feel the need to go back.
