Great mom and pop motel. Chris at the desk was friendly and helpful during check-in and when there was a Wi-Fi problem. Three of us stayed in one of the outbuildings with 3 beds(1 king, 2 queen — and the queen beds are memory foam or another luscious product). Nice sized bathroom, although without counter space for toiletries. The room includes a mini-microwave, small refrigerator and 2-cup coffee pot. Nice counter space and cabinets, too. Big, wall-mounted TV can be seen by all in the room. Everything appears spotlessly clean, but when we enter the unit after being out a while, there is a strong odor of mildew. We stopped at the dollar store and bought room freshener/deodorizer, and we’ll see if that helps. My husband does have respiratory problems, and if they flare up overnight I will be asking for a new room. Update to follow! Update: no breathing problems overnight, so I can state overall that I’m very pleased here.

I was a little nervous reserving a room here ahead of time, sight unseen. I was so happy when we pulled up! It is SO cute and charming. Very friendly front desk. We stayed in room 4(out of 17 units). Very clean, up to date for a small family hotel. Bright yellow and cheery. Loved our ceiling fan in the room. The mini refrigerator made a little noise as it was turning on and off, but it didn’t bother my sleep. The only thing I would change is the curtains aren’t black out curtains and it seemed brighter at night than most motels. There is no breakfast provided, but there is a great diner one block away. My husband is very picky on hotels/motels and it passed his muster. I thought it was adorable. There is a small plastic patio table with chairs in front of each room to sit outside and enjoy the weather in the summer. I would highly recommend. Lots cheaper than Traverse City motel prices and much more character and charm.

A very nice little mom and pop motel on hwy 31. Tiny rooms. Not the Ritz, but nice and charming. I like it. Thin walls and cheesey décor.

We often travel Up North for festivals and camping at Sleeping Bear Dunes. And this cute Mom & Pop motel is just the best! As a traveler I’ve had hundreds of stays at motels around the world. It’s a gamble sometimes. Honor Motel is a safe — and wonderful– bet! From our very first visit to Honor Motel we’ve had nothing but wonderful stays in super(OCD Grandmother) clean, seemingly ALWAYS renovated, efficient rooms! It seems the couple is always updating the rooms with fresh paint, new mattresses and even flat screen TVs. The owner, Chris, is always smiling by the front desk when you enter– and will jump to help you with anything you need.‘ I really enjoy this peaceful, cute motel Up North Michigan.
