I call the owner the Salad Nazi(like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld). She makes the best Chicken Orzo Salad I’ve ever tasted, but she also extremely rude. She’s always stressed out because there’s only two workers, she rolls her eyes when you ask for details about her menu, and she treats you like you are stupid. In short: good food, bad service.

More like 3.5 stars Ate here on the recommendation of fellow Unilocaler Kristen M. & also after having one of their yummy yummy Lemon Bars! So the first time I had lunch from here, I decided to get their Turkey Bacon Wrap & called in my order. The friendly lady that answered the phone asked if I wanted avocado in it also. I love avocado, so of course I said«yes!» I go over to pick up my lunch, pay, & am out of there in less than 5 minutes. I open up my take out container & my wrap looked pretty tasty ~ but I couldn’t see any avocado :(I take a bite, and I still don’t see any avocado! So yeah — my wrap didn’t have any avocado, even though it was her idea to add it! I don’t even know if I was charged extra… but I didn’t eat it there, so TS for me. Last week, I introduced my sister to this place. I originally wanted their Chicken Tarragon sandwich, but they ran out of the tarragon spice. My sister said to get the Salmon Salad, and since I loooove salmon… I said«OK!» My sister got the Southwestern Chicken Wrap. And we both got their Ginger Lemonade. My sister’s wrap looked pretty good, but it didn’t look like there was chicken in it. Unless it was the processed lunch meat kind of chicken — but she said it was good. We also got the ginger iced tea — which was good, but the ginger flavor was not strong.

Breakfast if the bomb. Three dollars gets you 2 bacon strips, 2 eggs, toast and 2 giant scoops of rice. I’ve gotten it twice and i am going to make a tradition out of eating there on the weekend. I look forward to trying some of their other menu items.

I have nothing but good things to say about Citrus Café. I just wish I had found this place sooner! Since I have, however, I’ve been there several times, and I’ve never been disappointed. The setting is homey and comfortable. The Mediterranean Bagel is incredible with high quality, fresh ingredients. My husband loves the Breakfast Wrap, which is huge and tastes amazing. If you’re watching your weight and looking for something a little lighter, try the Yogurt Parfait. It has an excellent assortment of fruit, which Tyna cuts fresh just for the order. She also makes all the salads fresh for each order, no precut veggies that have been sitting out getting wilted. My favorite thing is the Citrus«Garden Party» Salad. It has all the delicious vegetables you could ever want; avocado, beets, mushrooms, cucumbers, carrots, and tomatoes. I get it with Tyna’s homemade vinaigrette. And to wash it down: fresh Ginger Lemonade. Soooo good! Just thinking about it is making me crave it. And the price for this amazing salad? $ 5.95! That’s it! Everything is priced so reasonably, and as a broke undergraduate, I appreciate a cheap, but tasty meal. In short, EVERYTHING is amazing, the prices are a steal, and the ambiance is cozy and inviting. Well, what are you waiting for? Get down there and support this local gem!

This is a really cute little restaurant hidden inside the parking lot of Puck’s Alley. You can find it by going through the little driveway mauka of the Varsity. I found it by going through Nijiya Market and exiting near the restrooms. You can’t even see it from University Ave. I had the corned beef for St. Patrick’s Day. They seem to have a lot of sandwiches, salads, wraps, and breakfast items. There is a daily special that changes weekly so you’ll have to call to find out what it is. Everything tasted homemade. There were plenty of vegetarian options and I didn’t taste any MSG. Everyone there is really nice. Closes at 6pm so not ideal for dinner. Mon-Fri: 10am-6pm Saturday: 10am-2pm Sunday: Closed They have a «breakfast anytime special» for $ 2.99 that comes with: 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, and 2 scoops of rice. They also have a «pasta and meat sauce» special for $ 3.99.

I had to work in the university area for the day and my coworker recommended this café for lunch. They have salads, wraps, sandwiches and even breakfast. You should call in for the daily special and soup du jour. I ordered the salmon and spinach salad. It was topped with eggs, bacon, mushrooms and red onions all tossed in a light dressing. The grilled salmon was a good size and so was the salad portion. Not bad for $ 8.95. My co-worker ordered the hummus wrap. She said all the wraps are delicious here. Check out their website.

On a separate occasion when we were craving a hearty breakfast, we decided to dine in at Café Citrus. On the day we went, we ordered the daily special: homemade corned beef hash, which came with eggs and toast made to your preference. Hash is usually a mixture of beef(most often corned beef or roast beef), onions, potatoes, and spices that are well-seasoned and cooked. In Mom Tyna’s version, there were hearty chunks of succulent corned beef with well-cooked, softened pieces of potato. The toast was lightly buttered, and the eggs cooked to the perfect over-medium. One of our friends ordered the Hawaiian French toast made with thick slices apple bananas, topped with coconut whipped cream, and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. The French toast itself was made out of largely sliced pieces of bread. Slightly crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. One of the last entrees we had was the chicken tarragon salad sandwich. Mom Tyna was even nice enough to ask if we wanted lettuce, tomato, and wheat or white bread. Consistent with the other dishes, the sandwich was largely portioned with generous pieces of chicken. To drink with the food, we also had the ginger iced tea which was like drinking liquid ginger candy. So delicious! Our last drink was hot tea. Mom Tyna let us choose which tea bag we wanted for her to brew and there was a large variety to select from. Our tea came piping hot in a nice big mug. Definitely coming back again, and we are considering catering from her business as well!

quaint, café décor is equally as inviting as my mom’s kitchen and café citrus serves up yummy comfort food just like my mom! i read about this place, located on the ground level of puck’s alley in the back of the building, on metromix. and while metromix dinged the chicken tarragon sandwich, i enjoyed each hearty bite of the decently sized ‘wich. it wasn’t drowning in mayo and had ample spices and a savory flavor. the tomato, basil, mozzarella on french bread was a def«shaka» and her banana loaves are loaded with freshly mashed apple bananas… so flavorful! the prices are affordable(sandwiches were $ 6 each and the loaves $ 2 each). we are fans, we like the food, we like the service, and we especially like the sweets and banana loaves!!!

Stumbled upon this cute little café on our way to Niijiya Market. Seems like it’s run by one woman. We were the only one there and she took our orders, cooked the food, cashed us out. The menu here is very limited. It consists of breakfast items(served all day), salads and sandwiches. I had the special of the day which was the baked macaroni and cheese. However it wasn’t macaroni, it was penne. I was pretty disappointed as penne does not have the same texture as macaroni. The taste was good but the texture was not what I wanted. We also tried the ham & cheese sandwich. The bread is toasted, ham is grilled, cheese is melted, onions are caramelized. I personally don’t like toasted bread sandwiches, I’d prefer if it was a grilled cheese with ham sandwich. So while the taste was good I wouldn’t order it again. The prices here are pretty reasonable. $ 5.95 for the sandwich and $ 7.95 for the special(I think). While it’s not a destination kind of place, I’d try it again if I was in the area.
