My favorite place to relax and get a few drinks. Wade, Kelsey, Gavin, and Collin is the best!!! They are always on their top game and provide us with great service. This is one of the better places to eat at on this island. Especially if you’re from the mainland. Yes, they have the biggest selection of beers on tap in the whole island lol. But their food is just as good. Their pizzas are amazing and you’ve gotta try the onion rings. The dipping sauce for it is great. :)

I liked the place although it mainly caters to young’uns. They’ve got a great selection of tap beer (that’s why I liked it so much) and interesting pizzas. I used a Groupon for two flights of beer and a pizza. I absolutely loved the nitro Sam Adams wheat — and I’m not a fan of wheat beers.
We had the cheeseburger pizza which was interesting and good at the same time. We also had a huge appetizer or calamari — that was really enough for a meal in itself.

I would have loved to try their cheeseburger pizza and get a beer but I came in and wasnt greeted at the door, nobody directed me to a table (i had to find one that looked empty) and nobody on staff even acknowledged my presence for a good fifteen minutes. If you’re gonna be a bar, fine, but if your goal is to be a restaurant don’t waste my time.

Usually come here for taco Tuesday’s because my BF lives nearby… but randomly came here on a Wednesday to use my groupon for 2 flights of beer and a pizza… and it ended up being trivia night… so much fun! The service is great and it’s a relaxed atmosphere.

2 stars for the awesome music selection. That’s it. Everything else was horrible.

Customer service: –6; I’m guessing smiling is overrated.
Drinks: 3 for the amount of alcohol in their cocktails but for every cocktail, there are those key ingredients that can’t be omitted. Mint and ginger are vital ingredients. My drink tasted like cucumber club soda with a hint of tequila.
Food: 2 stars for that awesome papaya salsa that came with those horrible fish tacos. The fish was dry and chewy. The tortilla could’ve been lightly toasted so it could stop ripping as your grabbing the taco. And don’t even get me started on their portions. Fish tacos cost 10 dollars. I understand that this is Hawaii and everything is expensive but I’ve had wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better tacos and in wayyyyyyy biggger portions in waikiki that costs less than 10 bucks. I ended up eating my friend’s calamari thinking that its just calamari, how can you go wrong. But man was i in for a surprise. Lol worst calamari I’ve ever had! I’m so sorry tropics but how can you go wrong with calamari? They were greassssyyy and very under seasoned. And i could actually taste raw flour on some of them.
Overall experience, I got to sit in a semi cool area and listen to nice music instead of getting fried from this summer heat.

Food is always amazing and the price is right. Good happy hour and easy to find a seat.

It was fun because I was with my friends, Amy, Angel, and Dear Daniel on a VERY crowded Thursday night. Other nights might be less crowded and won’t have the $ 5 cover charge. This night was noisy and busy, but we still had great service and enjoyed good food.
We arrived before the 10pm rush and got free parking at Puck’s Alley by the University of Hawaii. A line to get in was forming where everyone was carded and wristbands were distributed. It’s «open air» and not air conditioned, so I didn’t need a sweater or jacket.
We got the yummy Garlic Wings and Edamame. I wasn’t too hungry, so it was just right for all of us to share. If I went back, I’d go early again and try other menu items. Plus, I would go to the restroom beforehand (big hint). My friend refused to go to this one, so we left. LOL! I would go back for a special occasion — the «college» crowd is young and «interesting» to observe… hahaha!

Mediocre food, good selection of beers, but they are fu**ing warm. Don’t waste your money here…

Really GOOD food! Leona was a FANTASTIC waitress. And the Thursday college happy hour (from 4 – 7) fits right into my schedule of having NOTHING to do after work on Thursdays. Thanks Tropic’s!

Beer selection is great. Food tastes mediocre, and not a lot for the money you end up paying for it.
We called the other day and asked if they were showing the fight and said, «No» then immediately hung up on us. We actually laughed that they were so rude about it. If they were mad about getting a bunch of calls for this, then that’s on them and ridiculous to hang up over something so silly.
Probably won’t come here again, which is a shame because I live super close and used to come here somewhat frequently.
Go to Pint and Jigger for better everything (food, drinks, atmosphere, service).

My wife bought a Groupon for Tropics Tap House last month and we finally made time to use it today.
We’re a couple hopheads, so we are always looking for a venue to try some new IPAs. What a goldmine! The Groupon entitled us to a flight of beers each and a pizza. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by bartender Gavin. He was very personable and knowledgeable. Rather than pick the four 4oz. beers each ourselves for the flights, we opted to have Gavin select them. Our only condition was that they were standout IPAs that were not readily available elsewhere. He enthusiastically accepted the mission.
For my wife he selected: Sierra Nevada Camp Tropical IPA, Tangerine Soul Style IPA, Knee Deep Breaking Bud IPA, and Knee Deep Hoptologist Double IPA. For me he selected: Pineapple Sculpin IPA, Rogue 7-​Hop (which I’ve tasted and loved previously), Knee Deep Simtra Triple IPA, and Green Flash Le Freak. Of the eight beers, Gavin selected seven we had never tried before. Awesome. He placed the flights in front of us and proceeded to expound upon the tasting notes and nuances of each beer. From right-​to-​left in order of ABV. This guy knows his beer!
As for food, we ordered the Sunny Salami Pizza, Crispy Calamari, and Chicken Wings. The calamari was typical pub fare, but the pizza was unique and tasty with a fried egg on top, and the wings were delicious and full-​sized (no drummettes).
Overall, it was a great Humpday Pau Hana experience. We’ll be back. Next time to hear Tavana or Mike Love perform on stage.

Divey sports bar vibe, but to be expected in Puck’s Alley. Beers on tap are plentiful, and cold!
There’s a pool table and foosball table on site, and a very good variety of tasty bar foods. Pizza is extremely good, worth ordering.
Its open air dining, so it can get hot and sticky in there (especially since lately we’ve been having the lack of trades). But if you don’t mind being a little sweaty, this place is worth checking out.

I really like going to tropics because its nearby and they have my favorite beer on tap, well most of the time but still its a decent place.
Its a pretty college bar since its near UH and a lot of my friends go there.
They have a bunch of different beers on tap and their food is good. Their happy hour is from 4 – 7. My favorite is the bacon truffle pizza! And also try their taco Tuesdays
A huge downside is their service is really up and down. Hence a 3 star rating. It depends on what waitress or bartender is working. Sometimes you get good service and sometimes you get horrible service. So I go with that in mine.
But overall, its not a bad spot to hang out and drink. Just hope for decent service

I pass by this place all the time and since I like beers on tap, I thought I would automatically come here one day. I found a Groupon for this place and finally found my opportunity to come here. The Groupon was for 2 flights of beer and a pizza. Each flight was 4 4oz. tastings of their selection of over 50 beers on tap. They also had other specialty bottles of beer for purchase. The staff weren’t necessary friendly but they sure were helpful. I guess they’re just busy people.
We started off with the Fresh Stuffed Jalapeños and it tasted like an explosion of flavor in my mouth. It was so delicious and it even came with an amazing dipping sauce that was like creamy and cheesy. As for the pizza, we got the bacon and truffle pizza which was amazing in itself because they put so much cheese on the pizza, which is a good thing, along with the bacon and mushrooms! But we loved the sauce from the jalapeños so much that we decided to ask our bartender Leona for more and she brought it out so fast! Usually there is a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance that you’ll get the extra side you asked for at someplace but I didn’t even notice that we waited for it! Good job bartender!
The beer selection was good and they even had my favorite beer on tap, but I decided to try other beers because they so much more options to choose from. They had a great selection of dark and malty beers and an amazing selection of IPA’s and even Ciders.
It was a Thursday evening but it was fairly busy. The atmosphere was very friendly and there is a lot of space to move around. If you want to sit down, they have many booths and also outdoor seating if it’s too hot inside. They also have darts and pool tables.
The only real downside for me was the bathroom. They had 3 urinals placed really close to each other and one right next to the sink with no barriers between them. There were 3 urinals but I could only use 1. The other two were really high so I don’t think my junk could reach up that high without tippy toeing. Luckily, the shorter one was furthest away from the sink. I get stage fright.

After being here a number of times, I have a mixed impression of this open air bar. Here’s the scoop.
Pros
–great selection of craft beers
–there’s a pool table, shuffleboard and foosball; Yessss!
–as some who has played too many seasons to count with 808 sports, this is one of the sponsor bars. The post game happy hours were consistently fun with pitcher specials, jenga and overall good energy.
–one of my buddies organized large gatherings for watching the world cup matches played in Brazil and the vibe here was awesome! Even for the early morning matches, large crowds would show up to the point where the staff was running large fans to try to prevent the bar from turning into a complete sauna.
–there’s decent food here; the potato wedges and the greek salad were the recent tasty items that I consumed
Cons
–I’ve had some strange interactions with bartenders here. One time I bought a pitcher and was expecting a lot of change back. Instead the bartender simply threw it into the large tip bucket and walked away without saying a word. Excuse me? Uhh isn’t the customer suppose to decide how much to tip?
Another time it was not crowded and the bartender was simply ignoring multiple people sitting at the bar for quite some time seeking beers. One of the patrons was bitter enough to simply walk out of the bar. While I don’t require friendly chatter, I do expect a bartender to get the drinks to the masses in a reasonable amount of time. Please note that, although there are friendly bartenders as well, it is the bad stuff that tends to stick out in customers minds.
So 3.5 stars all together.

If you’re looking to get extremely sloppy/​weird — come here on Thursdays. You may wake up regretting what you did the night before but hey! That’s a sign of a great time. Make sure you UBER back and forth due to the amount of intoxication you will undergo. Chheeeeerrrsssss!

I’m really enjoying this place — definitely an improvement over the last couple of years.
FOOD/​DRINKS:
Amazing selection of beers. They don’t change their selection often, but there are so many choices that it doesn’t matter much.
The food is also pretty good for a sports bar. I really like the sliders!
SERVICE:
Again, surprisingly good for a sports bar. Table service tends to be very attentive and friendly.
PRICE:
Reasonable for the beers and food they offer, which are both slightly elevated than the typical bar

Surprisingly good sports bar considering how many times this location has turned over in recent years. The beer selection is extensive and when a game is on this is a good place to be. Happy hour food and drink specials are good too! Check it out!

This is just a quick update. I came here with a friend after we attended a graduation. The food was good as usual. I got my usual garlic chicken wings and soy beans. This time, we also got the calamari. It must have been good because we gobbled it up. The calamari was tender and not hard like some other places.
