I’m a student at UHM and I live in Gateway Building so it’s quite convenient for me to just take the elevator down to the café. Sometimes the food is pretty good, other times I wonder why I didn’t just stay in my room and eat packaged ramen.

Food is average and may seem overpriced but it is all-you-can-eat. I like this sustainable eatery. Pay 50 cents extra for a compostable takeout box, utensils, and cup. Some people fill it up in the morning when they have bacon and share it out side. I only eat here for lunch or brunch(holidays) but since they’ve put in ice cream last year it’s been even better. Fruits are generally good and sweet. They are sourced locally so if weather has been bad the veggies and fruits aren’t good. Some favorites of everybody that they always have are the cheesburger, pizzas, grilled cheese sandwich. Sometimes they have my favorites like the kalua pork quesedilla, clam chowder, brocolli cheddar soup, and vegetarian dishes like the grilled vegetable burrito and wraps. Some good desserts I like are the Pecan Pie, fresh fruits, Jello, their earth day dirt worms, and of course the various ice cream(w/cone). Some things I like that others don’t is the smores quesedilla, asian pear salad, and the banana peanut butter sandwhich. Except for the desserts I liked above, most of the desserts are bland and lake taste. Tip: If you don’t have a meal plan get the frequent eating card. 5 meals and 6th one is free.
