My husband and I came here for breakfast this morning, wanting something tasty. But also wanting something that differs from Denny’s or IHOP. At first I was a little put off by the interesting décor they had chosen. But we sat down and were served immideatly. First they brought me my tea, in a giant cup, which was amaing. I get so sick of the shrinking cups at other resturants. They had great options on the menu and it was hard to choose just one thing to eat. In the end I got the French toast combo and my husband got the corned beef hash and eggs. ITWASDELICIOUS. Good hearty portions for a good price. I will be returning. Soon.

Bad service We went there a little while before lunch time The lady said they could make anything on the menu even if it is on the lunch or dinner section. So we ordered then she came back and said she couldnt make it until dinner time. So she had to cancel it after we got the side salad for the dinner meal. We ordered something else and she said we couldnt keep the salad because it was part of dinner. Wow! She should have let us have the little lame salad for her mistake! But nope! they were out of some of the ingredients they also didnt have something on the breakfast menu. She forgot things we asked for. Asked for a coke but took her forever. Finally asked for it again she said it wasnt working ritenow. The whole time i didnt have a drink she could have offered me something else while i was eating. She brought out the food 1 plate at a time so we all didnt even get to eat together we had to all wait for it all to come so we would all have food to eat together it got cold. Rude and unprofessional. It was just a completely bad experience from beginning to end. Bad waitress. And the business should be more prepared especially when they say they have things but end up not having it. Know what your working with before you eat your own words. I wish this would have been a better place but sadly it failed. They have a lot of plants all over the place. It looks bad. And big dirty fishtanks its just ugly décor and not sanitary. You can just see and feel all the dust and dirt in there. I would not recommend anyone go here.

We love it here for breakfast :) it’s nothing but delicious! Cheap too. I recommend this over Denny’s and IHOP… they don’t have good pancakes though, super tough, but other than that it’s a go to.

I do not know how this place has 4 stars. Maybe if the customers enjoy being ignored by there waitress, or if they really don’t care about taste… or texture… or aroma, then maybe it’s worth four stars. For those of you who DO actually enjoy food, this place is not for you. You’d get better food and service from McDonalds

I love JR’s! I’ve been there for breakfast and lunch, and enjoyed both, but I have to say I prefer breakfast. They have great Specials and super Biscuits and Gravy(which is how I judge a breakfast place!). Wonderful, huge omelets, awesome chicken-fried steak, and strawberry waffles with plenty of strawberries and whipped cream. Libby is a super-great waitress, very friendly… we just love her! We always return to JR’s

Very good lunch! Had a side salad, triple decker sandwich and iced tea. Salad was good, the sandwich was very good. It was sourdough, bacon, turkey, ham, cheese and lettuce! Very good ! Fries pretty good.

Great food at a wonderful price. My wife and I hit the restaurant at 730pm Sunday. It was empty and we were put off a little, fearful that it was too good of prices to be that empty. When we were served our food and it was great we were still left a lil stumped. a place that has this good of food at those prices should be swamped

Super friendly staff! Clean dining area. The food is very good. I have had the Spinach salad for lunch many times and it is extremely good! I ordered the ½ Fried Spring Chicken dinner tonight. It was good, you could really taste the Sage and Thyme in the spices used to make it.

Excellent service. The wait staff is super friendly and hospitable. My grandparents love coming here and I think it has a lot to do with the people that work here. When my grandpa was dying, the day they brought him home to be on hospice until the time came, all he wanted was the country fried steak from JR’s. When my mom and I went to pick it up, one of the waitresses offered to come visit him. I’m not sure if she made it in time, but the sentiment was truly heartwarming. I don’t know of any other restaurant that would care so much.

I do like the décor at this little family restaurant, but the food was just okay. The staff was friendly. I did notice I few things that personally made me give this place only two stars. But I know everyone won’t feel the same way.

JR’s has been like a faithful friend for years. The current owners have taken it from a bit of a rundown place to a pretty good little eatery in town. Their breakfasts are great and the prices are more than fair. Staff are always friendly and willing to accommodate special requests(I like to get hardboiled eggs instead of scrambled). Finally, I don’t know how they do it, but they have the best coffee. I know it’s Farmer Bros. I know it is just brewed like any normal coffee. But there’s not a restaurant around that can compete with their coffee.

I’ve been coming here for years. This is an amazing family restaurant. Extremely friendly staff. Great home cooked food. Very reasonable prices and great portions. If you are headed to the mountain, this is a great pit stop. If you’re a local, check it out.

I second the above review. If you want good quality food, good portions, excellent service, reasonable prices, then this is the place. It is is much better than the chains(Denny’s, Coco’s, etc.). I do think it would benefit from a facelift, inside and especially outside, but thanks to the excellent service(especially Carmen!) and the great cook, this place is better than one would think.

The full name of this establishment is JR’s Family Restaurant. The«Family» is an important factor because they make you feel like family whenever you come in. The location isn’t one that will catch your eye. The doughnut shop next door does a landslide business, but it also faces Florida Avenue, making it difficult to see JR’s unless you know it’s there. Once you find it, you’ll remember because the food is great, the service friendly and the prices very reasonable. My parents live in the area and this is one of their favorite places to go. It’s because JR’s does breakfast well, offering a variety of American and Mexican fare. My father sings the praises of the huevos rancheros and the chile verde omelet. I am a hugh chile verde fanatic but, because they don’t serve it every day, I have yet to guess correctly and show up on the proper day to enjoy it. I have had a variety of other omelets, steak & eggs, ham & eggs, biscuits & gravy(it’s ok, but not as good as elsewhere) and even oatmeal(gee, why can’t they have chile verde more often!) and all were great. My mother is partial to the strawberry waffle. Lunch is also great. The club sandwich is really big and really good; expect to take leftovers with you! The burgers and Mexican food offerings are also very tasty. This is not a fancy place; don’t expect the best crystal and fine china on the table. But it’s very clean and the service really is friendly. It’s head-and-shoulders above any chain(Dennys, IHOP, etc.).
