Essence Beauty Salon

I have been on a long, frustrating, and often painfully embarrassing journey to find a new stylist since my former stylist decided to take some time off to be a mommy. Traveling from salon to salon, trying to find someone who listens and understands me, and always leaving disappointed. (Not unlike my love life.) Many hats, scarves, ponytails, and buns have been worn to hide my shame. Tears have been shed. Social events avoided. After having my hair absolutely butchered at a high end salon very, very nearby that shall remain unnamed *wink*, I was just about to give up hope and do something (ugh) boring to my hair, when someone recommended Essence to me, and like a beautiful Luke Skywalker, armed with shears and a comb instead of an E-​11 Blaster Rifle, Susan came to my rescue and made me look fabulous again. She listened to my concerns, understood my style and my hair texture, and basically rocked the bejeezus out of it. For the first time in… years possibly, I absolutely love my hair. Susan has made a new, regular client.
In regards to the salon, it is neat and modern with a very welcoming, friendly vibe. It is owned, operated, and I believe fully staffed by a local family. So not only will your hair look amazing, you’ll be supporting local, independent business and some all around good people.

Best service I have ever experienced with getting my hair done! Susan is the best! She gives me and my mom exactly what we want and more every visit! Essence beauty salon is the best in Hemet! They know what they are doing.

I had a horrible experience talk about taking you for your money they did a horrible hair color on my hair I went back because I was not satisfied and they ended up charging me again come on really it was the next day most salons give you 2 weeks if your not happy with your color and I asked for a certain cut that I wanted I brought in a picture and it didn’t turn out like anything I wanted worst of all I and to take my dmv picture that day since I had just moved here from out of state and I seen their color that they use when I happened to walk to the restroom is basic 5 dollar Color dye I know I looked it up online I will not ever be returning here.

I moved here from San Diego a couple of months ago and have been traveling back and forth until I found this Salon. I called it after reading on Unilocal.I made an appointment for 11 am today for a hair coloring. Got there and Gabriela was the nice young lady that did my hair. She matched the color perfectly to what i had. She did and outstanding job. very nice and professional. I look forward to going to have them do my hair instead of driving all the way to San diego. Great Service

Great service and friendly staff. I was in desperate need of a hair cut and happened to be by this place. I pulled out my phone and checked the Unilocal reviews and decided to give it a shot. I didn’t have an appointment (I’m a neanderthal and I always to barbershops) but that was not a problem, I waited about 10 minutes and then I was on the chair. Very pleased with my cut and I will definitely be coming back.

This is a review in two parts: A.) of services that my mom has received over the last several years, of the extraordinary care she received from this salon, and my humblest thanks for the women who run it. B.) Of the excellent service I received when I went in for a haircut.
A.) My mom has been going to this salon pretty much from the time they opened. While she always enjoyed great service performed by each of the capable beauticians that work here (all part of the family), over time she settled into having Susan be her regularly requested attendant. The reason I am giving this additional information is because of what Susan did after my mom got so ill that she could no longer return to have her hair done at this salon.
I’ll spare the reader the fine details regarding my mother’s illness, but needless to say her insidious infirmity has been a struggle for several years, and all the while she has been going to Susan to have her hair done, to get a refreshing boost of beauty and youth, to hit the reset button and make her feel a little more human. And Susan has been consistently deft at this rejuvenating process, so my mom was happy to return again and again. She was always happy with the service and execution. Several months back, she began to weaken rather quickly, and soon after that, she could no longer leave her bedroom without experiencing great pain and fatigue. Therefore, without wanting to, she began to have to remain shut in at home.
It is no secret that most of us derive some strength and confidence from our appearance, and – without trying to sound sexist – it seems this is even more pronounced with the softer gender. My mom is no exception, and as she watched her hair move from carefully cultivated to unkempt mess, so too did her view of herself become somewhat more piteous and unenthused. This process followed her as she was moved from her home to a skilled nursing facility in town. So, when Susan found out about my mom’s condition, and due to the relationship they had built over the years, she called the skilled nursing facility, made arrangements to occupy their salon for a couple hours, and surprised my mom with one of the most touching gifts she could have received in her moment of weakness, a makeover as good as any she had ever given her. This brightened her day, by bringing in a little sunshine, hope, and beauty into the otherwise dark confines of her illness and shared nursing room. There are no words to thank Susan for this act of generosity and kindness.
B.) I wished this could be its own review, after all, I am a separate client with a different set of needs than my mom. But I guess Unilocal only allows a single review per user per business. That said, while my mom enjoys Susan as her stylist, I was fortunate enough to have Betty cut my hair. So this is a discussion of that experience.
The shop is run efficiently, so there does not seem to be a long wait before being seated, even without an appointment. The facility is clean and well-​maintained. There are flat screens to watch while one waits. Now to the haircut: Betty showed care in her manipulation of my large head, was careful to listen to my description of the cut I wanted, and gave me the exact haircut I wanted on the first try. So I guess you can say I was happy with the result. There are two generations of beauticians at the facility, and all are stunning beauties; this would have made it difficult to complain about my haircut if Betty had not done such a good job, so luckily I did not have too (I’ll admit, I was a little intimidated to have such a pretty girl cutting my hair). While I was there, I listened to some of the interactions the staff had with other clients, and all seemed to be having positive experiences. I will be returning whenever I am in town.

This is the only salon I will go to! They are friendly fast and very effective, which is why I was so surprised to see they didn’t have a Unilocal review!
Prices are affordable its a family salon.
