I’ve been coming here for over a decade, since before they revamped the downtown Hayward area. The lunch specials at Siam Palace are probably my favorite, for the cost and the portions. I love their pumpkin curry, roti and fried rice dishes, but just about everything on their menu is great. My only complaint is that their dinner entrée portions are on the small size and if you’re dining in, the restaurant can get super hot(there’s no AC, or it’s always broken). There’s ample parking in the rear parking lot and I’ve usually entered through the rear entrance. Service is always pretty quick and the food is fresh. Great Thai restaurant with authentic flavors.

I came here for the first time maybe 4 months ago with a friend and we both got hooked. We meet here maybe once a month. The Thai favorite fish is my regular along with the basil fried rice. Two thumbs up!

This was an average Thai restaurant. The food was ordinary, but the staff was really sweet. There’s no AC, and minimal parking; but they are always refilling your water and checking on you. We ordered pad Thai, green curry and eggplant basil. Pad Thai– really plain, not juicy and full of veggies or tofu. Green curry– it was alright, small portion for the price. Not sweet, or coconut flavored. Eggplant basil– I actually really enjoyed this and got 2 orders, best with steamed rice! Loved the garlic, ask for mild!

I’ve been here a couple of times and I have zero complaints so far. I had the Choo Chee Pompano once and the Angel Wings the second time. Both meals were delicious and their red chili sauce is perfect. In other words, anything with their red chili sauce or paste will have that perfect amount of flavor and heat. Also, you can order some on the side(free of charge I believe) to give any meal a solid kick. Seriously, I could spend another whole paragraph on that sauce alone, but that wouldn’t be very useful. I believe I ran into the same waiter twice and he is really good and offering customization for your dishes. I actually wanted to get the Angel Wings spicy and he told me that they couldn’t because they are pre-made before they are ordered. However, he hooked the whole table up with 4 kinds of spicy sauces for our meals(I was there with 2 of my roommates). How in the world can I complain about that? Essentially, this guy knew his stuff. This place has everything you want from a Thai restaurant; good ambience, good food, and decent prices. If you’re in the area and you like Thai food, this is definitely a must try.

I really liked their food. I was super hungry so it was really good when I had it. However, their service… I would give them 0 star for their service. If they could improve their service, I would give this place at least 4 – 5 stats. But it was soooo bad that food started to taste bad. So I would just togo their food if I wanna eat it. Haha

Awesome hidden place if you’re looking for some authentic Thai food. I was driving home but wanted dinner so I called them for a pick up order of one order of pad thai. Customer service was awesome. The guy who answered was very accommodating and chill. When I first opened my food and ate a bite, wow. It was so good! The only thing I wish for was to have the portion larger. It was only half a plate and didn’t really fill me up. But still, an awesome place to dine.

Very poor customer service. The waitresses are not nice and seem in a rush, they don’t help you with your order. Basil beef was awful. Beef was tough and dry Fried rice was bland Roti was very oil and not as good as the other roti’s I’ve tried

Let me start off by saying that my personal experience so far is pretty great. I ordered the pumpkin curry lunch special. Tastes AMAZING. I walked in, ordered my food, and received it within what felt like 15 minuets. So as for my personal experience was too notch Since i came alone i tend to people watch. There was about four groups already seated. A large group, a group of 2 which was sitting in front of me, and two other groups of 2. Since they was seated already i expected for all the groups to have ordered already and be getting their food shortly. Turns out i was the first to receive food which I found a bit weird. The group in front of me saw this and began to get upset. After that the other groups of 2 received their food and at this point im guessing the 2 in front of me was here longer because they got up and just left angry. Then on top of that the group table didnt get to order until everyone else got their food. Dont get me wrong the food is great but its not nice to forget people

Whenever my husband and I crave Thai food, we come here! We always order the same when we come in lol(coconut water, Pad See Ew(chicken or beef depending what I feel like eating), Chicken Nut Cashew, and Sticky Rice with mango. All for about $ 30ish. We always leave satisfied.

Best red curry I can remember having– in fact, it tastes better than a lot of what I had in Thailand! Aside from the beef pumpkin curry, I had a mango curry(amazing), tom kha gha, and fried tofu(also amazing). What really makes the curry stand out is that they manage to create something that has a very deep flavor without too much heat. This is especially hard with red curry. This place is 5 minute walk from the BART(Hayward), so not having a car is not an excuse to rush here for one of their red curries!

The décor was nice. We ordered the pumpkin curry with prawns and beef pad Thai. Also, had a Thai ice tea. Everything was ok. Not bad, but nothing to wow about.

Having tried a lot of Thai places, I was a bit skeptical about one in Hayward being really good and authentic. However, the smell when you walk in is perfect! Just what you want to smell when you walk into a Thai restaurant. I came for lunch with a friend and ordered the pumpkin curry lunch. It was delicious! The pumpkin curry had bell peppers, pumpkin, meat of my choice(I chose chicken) and basil in it. It was the perfect lunch portion with the rice. The soup that came with the lunch was just meh. No real taste. Thai tea is only $ 2 and pretty tasty! Authentic Thai cuisine in Hayward. Overall I was impressed and would definitely come back.

I do to go’ here, pumpkin curry and brown rice or pad see ew vegetarian are my usual suspects! Nice staff, clean and cozy inside, I like the fountain in the back. Men’s restroom is freezing in the winter time, outside drafts get in no problem. Highly recommend

Found this place on Unilocal for a quick dinner on Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised. It’s located in a nice area of downtown San Leandro but the restaurant is pretty small but the inside is pretty nice. Ordered the Pad Thai, Garlic beef and calamari salad and fried banana with ice cream for dessert. Everything was great and the prices are very reasonable. This is a great place to order a bunch of dishes and share with the table. I’d come back again for dinner.

I came here for lunch before class. They don’t have a heater in the restaurant so I was freezing when I walked in and it’s pretty dark inside. There were only 2 other ladies that were in the restaurant so I was seated right away. When I was seated the server brought a complimentary cup of soup which warmed me up a bit. When I started to look at the menu my waitress asked if I was ready to order. I already knew what I wanted to order prior to coming here since I have been craving Thai food but I felt rushed and didn’t get to view the entire menu. I ordered the Yellow Curry with beef and brown rice and the Thai Rotti appetizer. They didn’t have anything smaller than the appetizer which was about $ 6 and it was a lot. I’m not complaining though because I packed it to-go and ate it as a snack during my break. I loved the yellow curry. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by the dish anywhere I’ve eaten it. The only downside to my experience was that it was so cold in the restaurant I felt like my food got cold in 5 minutes. I’d probably be back again. But maybe not because their service was just ok. Or maybe if they get a HEATER so people can be comfortable eating and I can take off my jacket and scarf next time.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I should have known better than to come back to Siam Palace after my first dining experience there. On both occasions, we had inadequate service prompting us to stare down a waiter/waitress before we could do anything. And by anything I mean, to ask for water, to order, for our other drinks, for condiments, for the check. Not the mention the amount of time we waited between each request before we received anything, sometimes even having to ask multiple times… A little backstory: It was a Saturday night and almost all the tables were packed. They have two entrances so customers are literally coming in from the front or back of the restaurant. We were lucky enough to be seated before it started to fill up but we noticed there were instances where guests would seat themselves before another party and was asked to move to accommodate other guests waiting. So they were busy. On top of that, the kitchen took forever and a day to get us our food. Appetizers came out about 15 minutes after ordering(after an initial 15 minutes to order). Our main entrees came out in 10 minute intervals after that(we ordered 3 dishes). So in total, we didn’t get everything we ordered until an hour after arriving at the restaurant. Because of the horrible service I got, I don’t think I fully enjoyed the food. If anything it was decent but definitely not worth the time or money spent. And don’t get the pineapple fried rice. Rice was mushy and there were a few pieces of pineapple only. They also used Chinese sausage in it(unheard of!).

Sunday night and it was about 40% full. There was only one waitress manning the entire place so it took a while to get some things but I wouldn’t say it was bad service at all. What I liked here: –Tom Kha with Seafood: A generous amount of squid, shrimp, fake crab, and mushrooms. It came out so fast that I couldn’t believe it could have been good but it really was. A mild sweet flavor throughout the broth with some milkiness of the coconut but that was offset by the lemongrass. –Thai Favorite Fish(crispy pompano with sweet chili sauce): They were out of trout so we ordered this and I was very pleased. The fish itself doesn’t have much meat but what it does have is very good. The meat on both sides was cut in squares so you can easily pluck off a chunk to eat. It’s covered with veggies and the sweet chili sauce isn’t overpowering or too sweet. –Pad Thai with Shrimp: I like that this doesn’t have that artificial orangey color. This tasted lighter than how they make it at other restaurants but I feel like that’s the intended flavor intensity. What I didn’t like: –Pra’ram Beef: The beef was boiled(?), laid on a bed of veggies, and then covered with peanut sauce. It just didn’t taste right. –Red Curry with Beef: A bit on the bland side. Seems like they beef they serve here is weird. It’s almost like the ones they actually have in Thailand that are lean, pale in color, and slightly flavorless. There’s parking on the street in the front of the restaurant, which might be hard to get to, but there’s also a lot in the back.

We had a delicious lunch here! The service was friendly and fast, and the décor was cute. We really enjoyed our papaya salad(the chili lime flavor was excellent) and pad see yiu with chicken(it was flavorful, and the medium spice level had a nice kick to it). Overall, a nice find in Hayward!

This is long overdue but I’ve frequented Siam Palace for the past two years. And especially after actually visited Thailand, the food here hits the spot when I’m in the area and craving for some good Thai grub. My favorites: green curry beef, red curry chicken, thai iced tea(and coffee is only $ 1.50!), pad kee mao, and pretty much the basics. Also biggest thing I’d never complain about? The affordability. I’ve been ordering to-go lately and 1) order comes out just in time, 2) lunch curries come with rice and salad(if you’re eating there its rice /salad /soup), 3) it’s never overly crowded… I was kind of hoping to keep this place my little secret. :) Give it a try!

Came by for lunch the other day and it was surprisingly decent. Parking was available out front in the rather sketchy city downtown… Service was friendly and we were able to be seated upon arrival. Lunch specials are available 7 days a week! :) Started off with the Pad Thai and it was okay. It was fresh although the beef was too hard to chew… The dish was also on the sweet side?!? Thai tea was decent. Slightly on the sweet side and didn’t taste too watered down. Pad Khee Mao was okay. It came out slightly spicy and the beef was still tough… The mango sticky rice was decent. The sticky rice was pretty sweet but the mango wasn’t super ripe yet… ~$ 13/head after tax and tip Restroom keys are next to the entrance to the kitchen against the wall.
