Used to love this place; they had the best fried rice in the area. Unfortunately, new management has taken over and it’s called Frannie’s now. I’m usually good for a long, stream of consciousness type of review. But this place gave me some harsh food poisoning. Enough said :(

Shian San is one of my favorite chinese restaurants around. Unfortunately I’ve heard, as of late, that they are no longer there and it is an entirely different place all together. This got me super down, mainly because this place had the best hot and sour soup known to man kind. It was ALWAYS so good, and I would never eat anything else I ordered because I couldn’t stop eating the soup, and would be full. Great food, great prices. Anyone know if they’re REALLY closed?

My family has been goin here ever since I can remember. We have actually stopped coming here because of the cleanliness. We’ve found ants in our water glasses and even a hair in one of our dishes. The food is good and reasonably priced, but pretty greasy. Will probably never come back.

I’m kind of speechless. This food was so gross that I am not sure where to start. Shall I start by mentioning the extreme nausea for me and all my friends or shall I begin with the sweet and sour sauce tasting of a can of Hawaiian punch. Oh, maybe I shall start with the General’s chicken that was similar to opening my mouth under a spout of salt. Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Yes, perhaps… a hot, hot, sweaty summer’s day in which they seem to have left this food to sit out before serving it to us.

I hate to see this place empty, because from what I remember, it was one of the best chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to. I consistently ate here every Sunday throughout my childhood. As a kid, no matter what sort of family problems we were going through, all we had to do was order their«Happy Family» and like magic, we were… dare I say… a Happy Family again :) They had a wide-ranging menu, and since we’ve been here well over a hundred times, we pretty much tried all of their dishes, and EVERYSINGLEONE was filled with so much flavor that I’ll even wager that you’ll get hooked! Like-minded with Florio, I also recommend their Walnut Prawns. NO other restaurant(and even home-made) can compare; and trust me, I’ve tried quite a few different Walnut Prawns from a variety of Chinese restaurants that claim to be «the best.» The décor(dull) and service may not be something to rave about… but hey, there is always take-out! I haven’t been here since I was in grade school, but I’m hoping it’s still as good as it used it to be =)

I have been going here since I went to CSU Hayward years back… and as of today… I cant find a better collection of chinese food. You MUST try Walnut Prawns House special chow mein My brother and I still make a special trip out there every time he is in town… Yes … its that good… You know its home style cooking … when boxes of cabbage are being cut on the table next to you… Take out is possible… enough said…
