My girlfriend and I tried the 3 amigos and tempura spicy tuna rolls. They were great and the service was great too. Nice place for a date I think.

Customer service is lacking. They’re pretty mean not only to us but tables around us. They didn’t seem too happy every time customers came in and they didnt hide it. I don’t like giving one stars EVER. but they were rude and when they made a mistake with my friend’s entre, they were upset that she kindly addressed it ???:\

My mom and I have been coming here for the past four years. We always go for their great lunch specials. The service is always quick and friendly and the food never disappoints. My mom doesn’t like to eat raw fish so I always say whatever sashimi or rolls she gets on the side and the owner took notice of it awhile back. So then he asked her if she didn’t want raw fish anymore and said he would substitute it for whatever she wanted every time she came. If we go when the owner is behind the sushi bar, then she gets substitutes and enjoys her full meal(instead of me taking it from her). The owner cares about his customers and has always been friendly. Their porridge at the start is really great! They always change it for the hot/cold seasons and the salad they give during the summer is really nice too. The side dishes are what make this place awesome every time. I would recommend the bento boxes for lunch-you get so much good stuff for a reasonable price.

This is my favorite Sushi Restaurant /Hwoi-Jip. Sushi is fresh with excellent side dishes… The service is unparalleled with good portions. I drive up from Irvine just go eat at Jangsoo… And I love the pineapple ice cream too! My family and Kim family love Jangsoo… We go at least once a month! It is so kid friendly too. Definitely recommend the private room with TV! Also, the owners are very friendly and down to earth… I wish they would open up another restaurant in Irvine so that I can go once a week!

Fishes are frozen, looks not fresh. So, we did not order. We tried 2 rolls. Fish: thin and small; Rice: too much and sour, too much vinegar. Shrimp Tempura udon: one shrimp only. The veggie tempura is even worse than buffet’s food. Only seafood pancake is okay, above average. That’s the only reason I give it 2 stars. Definitely, will not come back here.

Overpriced… for frozen fish. Disappointed that my favorite, tuna, was frozen. But the sprite, spicy soup and rice was so so good.

Not kid and family friendly. I was asked not to come back to this restaurant because my kid made a mess. This happened without warning.

If you like Sushi do not eat here… Came to Jang Soo for some sushi based on its 4 star rating and was highly disappointed. Like others have said this place is purely Quantity over Quality. If your the type that likes going to AYCE sushi places or drench your sashimi in cho-jang you might actually find this place palatable. If your looking for good quality sushi GOELSEWHERE. Ordered some pieces of salmon, snapper, tuna, octopus, and an order of O-Toro and some type of roll which I can’t remember. Presentation was nice and they included some extra pieces of fish, but it did not make up for the lacking quality. Everything was just average. My two major gripes were that the slices of lemon they used as garnish were pressed against the salmon, partially cooking them. This basically ruined the salmon for me. The second was the O-Toro. I should have known better ordering it from a questionable place, but I figured why the hell not, it can’t be that bad. When it came out, they were rectangular frozen squares!!! I wonder how long that piece of tuna had been sitting in their freezer! Why even offer it, if you can’t move it quick enough to serve fresh. This is just poor management. And although the service was good, if you can’t get the sushi right, it’s not worth eating here.

This is my family’s go to spot for lunch specials & sashimi dinners. The lunch menu consists of various bento boxes, sushi combos, porridge, and hwe do bab. I suggest ordering one of the sashimi combos if you come for dinner. All of them come with soju Or beer and spicy seafood soup. They range from $ 69.99(S) to $ 159.99(XL). Great bang for your buck. The combos are also served with many different appetizers & side dishes. Appetizers include: bacon/dduk & garlic, corn cheese, seafood pancake, shrimp & veg tempura, and salted grilled mackerel. The spicy seafood soup comes out at the very end. The fish is surprisingly fresh! Everything was DELICIOUS. I love this place. No wonder my family always chooses this spot. I highly recommend this place if you’re craving some serious fresh fish. The yellowtail sashimi was BUTTERY and INSANE last night. Yum~ Oh, and they give you a small scoop of ice cream at the very end. :]

Me and my hubby went here on weekends it was packed! So we ended up sitting at sushi bar since there was no waiting list. Server was really nice and quick. and the sushi man in front of us was the owner :) He doesn’t talk very much but knows how to entertain customers without bugging them. Quality of sashimi was good and side dish was awesome too. We ordered medium sashimi combo couldn’t even finished. the owner also gave us free fish roe rice too, how nice! I would def come back again for this place.

Way too expensive, no drink specials and no happy hour. There are simply better choices in the area that offer the same quality, or better, for much less. Most sushi bars in the area offer beer for $ 2 or less all day. Look around and you’ll find those deals. The one thing I do like about this restaurant is they have a tank at the sushi bar for live sweet shrimp, abalone and sea urchin. None of that comes cheap though. Plan on spending around $ 10 an order or more. Last but not least, this place had a «B» grade from the LA health department. Anything less than an «A» grade at a sushi restaurant makes me a bit concerned.

I’ve been coming to Jang Soo for a couple of years now. Honestly I don’t know why I didn’t come sooner as I absolutely love sushi and my wife and I had been trying to find a good spot since some of the others we liked either closed or were too far away. I’ve brought friends here who«thought» they had a great sushi place and now their spot has been ruined after eating a Jang Soo. We usually eat at the sushi bar and everything I’ve had has always been fresh and high quality. They have a tank of live halibut that they use for their sushi/sashimi as well as live sweep shrimp and even live abolone(you can’t get fresher than that). If you are coming here with group I highly recommend their sashimi platters. For a decent price you get enough sashimi of all types to feed your group along with appetizers and hot dishes. I also recommend getting here early since it gets super packed later in the evening and that can lead to longer than usual wait times. As for the staff I have never had any problems with any of them, the owners are friendly and always ask how I’ve been and treat us like family. Bottom line I would recommend this place(and have recommended it) to everyone I know.

THISISONEOFTHEWORSTRESTAURANTEXPERIENCESMYFAMILYAND I HAVEEVERHAD. I’ve never thought I’d give a place on Unilocal one star but I’d give this place zero stars if that’s possible! I’m familiar with places like Jang soo because I’ve been going to these places for my whole life. I’m a regular at a place called Beach Hwaluh in Buena Park and my family wanted to try something new so we went here. Big mistake. First, the wait was about 30 minutes. Not bad. Typical busy wait time for dinner so I let that one slide. Then we were seated in one of their private rooms which was away from all the noise and had their own tv on the wall – pretty sweet right? Everything was clean and orderly – clean sauces, tables, and chairs. HOWEVER, being put in a private room has it’s MAJORDRAWBACKS. I don’t even understand why restaurants would have private rooms if they’re not going to properly check their customers! We waited at least 30 minutes to get our order in and within that half hour, my brother went to the front of the restaurant to ask for a waiter to come get our order. BUT, they still take another 5 – 10 minutes after we ask! And isn’t it restaurant courtesy to give water to their customers before anything else? Nay, just asking for our drink orders right when we sit down??? We didn’t get our water until our meal was sitting in front of us. And it was also ten minutes after we got our food. And what we ordered has different courses that comes out one by one. I’m sure the regulars know what I’m talking about or those of you who have been to korean restaurants like these before should be familiar to this. From all the other places I’ve been to… never have I waited 30 minute intervals for my next course. By the time our final course had arrived, we’ve been sitting there for a total of 2 and a half hours! And on top of that, when we asked to talk to the manager/owner to hear our complaint, he was EXTREMELYRUDE and disregarded everything we said. He actually interrupted my dad a few times to hurry the conversation along and try to speed up the whole situation. In the end, He asked us and I QUOTE, «So…what do you want me to do about it?» WHAT?! I’d like for better service and new management of this place – THAT’S WHAT. I’d like the time back you’ve wasted at this horrible place you call a restaurant. I will never ever come here again. And trust me, I will be sharing to everyone I know of this horrible experience I’ve had. Everyone who’s looking at this place, try Beach Hwaluh in Buena Park. It’s the same thing, but better quality food, slightly cheaper prices, and a lot better service. LIKE10000000000000 times better. They’ll make you never want to eat at Jang soo ever again.

As much as I love authentic japanese sushi, sometimes I just crave some korean-style halibut sashimi. Add a bottle of soju and it usually adds up to a great meal. But this place seems to focus a whole lot on quantity, and not very much on quality, and it left me feeling a little disappointed. Most people come here and order the combos. These combos come with various types of sashimi and a huge variety of side dishes. And I think that’s how they get a lot of people. I mean, the shear number of stuff they give you is impressive, including some seafood banchan that I have never seen before. We ordered a large combo that came with a giant tray of halibut sashimi, oysters, uni, and a bunch of other stuff I don’t remember. The prices for these combos might seem a little steep, but they really are a great value for what you get. The only problem, is the quality. The halibut sashimi was okay. It wasn’t bad and didn’t taste fishy, but it didn’t have that fresh bouncy texture that really good halibut has. So after a while, I got tired of eating it, which rarely happens. The uni was tasty, but again, not even close to the quality you would find at a japanese restaurant. The oysters however, were terrible. Even with the condiments on top, the fishiness almost made me gag. I can’t help but think that I narrowly escaped a bout of food poisoning. I still think this place serves some good food in the form of side dishes and soups. But the sashimi itself is not good enough that it would make me want to return. I appreciate the fact that there are not many places in OC where you can enjoy some korean style sashimi, but I wasn’t particularly impressed. Just okay.
