Usually when a free dinner is involved, I would give an extra star to my review, but it seems almost unfair to my palate and my integrity to do that. So I will stick with the 2 star. Ok we’ve all experienced little white lies here and there when it comes to Customer Service… «We will be right with you»” «Your call is important to us» «Sure, I’ll be happy to help you with that.» And add one more from Hana Sushi… «Yes the fish is fresh» Ummm… If I could see you rubbing your hand on the fish to warm it up, and yet I still bit into a icy piece of fish… You sir, are a liar. The uni, which they cleverly put in the uni shell was greenish and definitely not fresh at all. The spines were dead and did not move. That does not happen with actual live uni. Anyway, go to Sushi Gallery instead. You’ll get more bang for your buck. We are in a recession after all.

It was pretty fricken’ cold when I was driving my way over to this spot. I was a bit late for Christine’s little gathering of folks to try out this sushi joint out here in Lakewood. Our small group(Christine, John and myself) were all ready to give this place a go, and while we waited for some folks to show up for the food, we looked through the menu and decided to order: — 1 Bento Box: Consisting of the following: Kalbi, 2 side orders of your Choice, Sashimi:(Salmon and Tuna), Califorina Rolls. Rice, Salad, Miso Soup(unlimited), and tempura. With additional sides of Spicy Pickled Ginger, Edamame, and Sweet Potato Salad –1 Spicy Tuna Roll –1 order of Uni(Sea Urchin) –Numerous Orders of Sashimi, Toro, Red Snapper and Hamachi a la carte –Several other orders of a variety of rolls: Which memory has escaped me due to food coma at the time, and lack of photographic material. So considering, I was on a strict budget(saving up for the Hidden Kitchen experience, and some other last minute Christmas Shopping) I had to be a bit frugal on my choices. The bento box was filling… for $ 12.00 with all that I ordered, you can’t go wrong. The fish all seemed pretty fresh for the most part. The Spicy Tuna Roll was decent, but its not my preference when it comes to eating sushi. The highlights of this excursion was my first taste of uni and the pickled ginger dish. Although this place is Korean owned, the ginger was definitely enjoyable despite its supposed«spiciness»(which I hardly tasted). As for the Uni, let’s just say it’ll be a while before I can stomach such a delicacy. It was smooth, but a bit slimy with a brown yellow-brown color. Complimentary sushi, sashimi, and aloe jello was served after our entire meal. I believe the order came out to $ 110.00 roughly altogether, tax and tip(with my share being covered about $ 40.00 or so, thanks John!). Overall, good times even with a small trio of Asian Folk venturing out to uncharted Sushi territory!
