I understand the 5 star rating, even if I can’t quite get there. Highlights were service, freebies (including a pumpkin soup, california roll from a choice of rolls, and ginger tea), and the excellent miso soup. The selections for the bento box were awesome, including the delicious shrimp tempura and veggie gyoza. However, the sushi was not the best ever, and the shrimp teriyaki was not great. Everything else was yummy though, and we’ll happily venture back!

This is the best sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. The owners are husband and wife and they are the nicest people. You can tell that they really care about costumer satisfaction and it certainly shows. Their sushi is delicious and they have many options, vegetarian rolls, rice free rolls along with many others. Their specialty rolls are very creative and tasty! The also offer «special» rolls for the day. The ocean dream roll is my current favorite. I’ve never gotten anything that I didn’t like at this place. The juju bee tea is delicious also. Everything is delicious. It’s my number one pick for sushi.

Sweetest people who run it and great sushi! :). They remember what you like and have really good options — even something simple like Kani salad they don’t drench in mayo and spice up with avocado lettuce and tomato when other places pile on Kani dump on spicy mayo and throw sesame salads and call it a day

This is one of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to. Complimentary pumpkin soup and frozen cinnamon tea. I had the pink lady roll and an order of salmon sashimi — it was reasonably priced, fresh, filing, and so so so so so so SO good. Will definitely be back soon.

The location looks like an ordinary strip mall, but The restaurant has nice ambience and deco. The sushi was awesome and the chef prepared it very quickly.

We were searching for a new place to eat and a 4 ½ star review caught my eye. So off we went, just remember this is a sushi restaurant. It is very small, very clean, very friendly and very good perhaps the best I have ever had. It started with a pumpkin soup, yes pumpkin soup wow was it good. This was a sample sent to the table. I ordered the chicken dumpling soup, really good, my wife and son had the miso soup they said the best they have ever had. The sushi rolls were the largest I have ever seen and my son’s bento box twice the size I have ever seen. The food was excellent and the service was excellent as well. It had a very welcoming feel to it. I have to say it has ruined all other Japanese sushi restaurants for me and we have three good ones close to home this one is about 15 minutes away. This is where will will go from now on.

For Sushi snobs this place works. Japanese owned and operated. Sashimi was great. They gave me pumpkin soup and two pieces of excellent yellowtail on the house. Ginger dressing was home made and excellent. They finish with complimentary frozen cinnamon tea. I don’t know how they wound up in Haskell. I live in Tenafly and this was much better than anything around here.

The sushi is excellent-​the service not so much. The problem isn’t the actual service per se, but a lack of it. They just seem to be completely overwhelmed and need to perhaps hire an additional person to simply bus tables for them. The woman who typically takes orders and clears tables can only do so much, she does not have 8 arms! I appreciate their need to keep things small. However, the past two times I have been here with my family on a Friday night around 5 – 6:00, we were seated then waited 30 – 40 minutes just to place our order and receive our drinks. For a party of three to wait over an hour to receive our meal was just silly. There are a lot of great things about this place such as the little extras you receive with your entrée, however I just cannot bear to wait that long again, in Haskell no less.

I was in the area for an appointment and wanted to get a quick dinner. I ordered shumai, tuna/​avocado roll & yellow tail roll. While I waited for the appetizer, the owner gave me a small bowl of their pumpkin soup to try. It was OMG amazing. I ate every last drop. The shumai were very fresh and tasty. The rolls were large, cut into 8 pieces. As I was eating the rolls, the owner again came to me with two additional pieces of sushi to try. After finishing my meal, which was wonderful, the owner again surprised me with a small cup of ginger/​cinnamon tea which was semi-​frozen, like a small slushy. So good… I will definitely visit here again the next time I am in the area. The price was great and in line with the other sushi restaurants I have visited.

This is the best place ever to eat. Sue and Shane are two of the most friendly people. Always makes you feel welcomed. All the food is delicious and the freshest. I eat here at least once a week. A++++++++++

The host is extremely friendly and nice to each individual, and always bring up free appetizer and dessert to everyone! I like the Tofu pancake and cinnamon tea the best :) the food here is very fresh and the house is very clean! It is the right choice for me, and you will like it too: D
