Grinders Above & Beyond

Nice restaurant with lots of Vegetarian and Vegan options! Rarely have an issue with my food, and if I do, they are more then willing to fix it.

I have always liked this place so maybe this isn’t the perfect experience to write a review, but I will anyway.
3 of us came for lunch and were seated quickly at probably the last available table. Our server took drinks orders but never mentioned there were specials which were on a menu which we thought was just drinks. After getting drinks our order was taken and we all ordered the same Eastern grinder, only one had no peppers. We waited a really long time, and never saw our server for drink refills. Somebody else brought our food and we had to sort out the grinders. The food was fine, predictable, but our server was below average. We had also forgotten that chips don’t come with your grinder but the server never asked if we wanted them, which is normal practice.
We think servers were overwhelmed and nobody was cleaning off tables. There was a couple with 2 small children who were pounding beers and they were all lined up on their table. Had table been cleaned, we never would have realized they were drinking so much.

Pretty slow service. I got the veggie burger and it was ehhhh. Nothing special here.

Let’s just say, food was good, but PLEASE don’t vacuum with a full dining room. THREE times in less than an hour we were there someone busted out the little battery vacuum. Other customers were also rightfully disgusted. The carpet was not filthy… Please learn restaurant etiquette!
Oy vey… So otherwise their veggie burger was great. Server was not attentive: I ordered the salad with veggie burger on it… even asked if I could do so… but she brought me a veggie burger wrap. Fixed promptly. Then I realized they forgot the cheese on the salad. I didn’t say anything because I was sooooo tired of the hassle! Onion rings were ok… Batter was too thick and way too salty; also was not served with any condiment. None suggested either. (Duh)
Burger for my date seemed good. Might try again, but I certainly won’t tolerate the obsessive vacuuming again or the hassles…

REALLY good food and service! We ordered the CHEDDAR CHIPS APP (great for 2 people to share) and it was AWESOME. The sandwiches are sooooo good and we are from Philly, home of the hoagie, so I consider us an authority. I got the FRENCH ONION SOUP and loved it. Travis was our waiter and he was GREAT. The host was so nice too. Shout out to him!

Hartville Grinders has done a 100% turnaround in the last year in my opinion. Service and food wonderful. I recommend 100%. Dinner, lunch, carry out or dessert.

Great food and great family atmosphere. The sandwiches and appetizers are great. Service is always top notch. We love it here!

Had the Mahi Mahi Grinder. Would have been a great sandwich on Chibota Roll. Wife had a wrap. Average place. Menu is a little different than our usual.

Good quality food at a good price. Sandwiches (Grinders) and salads seem to be there specialties. We have been to this location 4 times and service is getting to the point where it would be ranked as not bad.
I like the chicken salad grinder and the Key West Salad with the coconut dressing. Not sure this is the kind of place I would order a strip steak.
Also one of the few restaurants in Hartville that is open past 8:00 pm or on Sunday. The town shuts down early.

Our family decided to order pick up from grinders for a quick dinner. We ordered two mahi mahi sandwiches and an original eastern. They told us it would be twenty minutes, and when we arrived the food was hot and ready. The mahi mahi sandwich I had was very good. The fish was tender and very tasteful, the bacon was crispy and delicious, and the sauce was amazing. The rest of the family had good things to say about their meals as well. We are so happy Grinders came to Hartville because it is the first really good restaurant other than Mi Casa. We’ll definitely continue to give them our business.

Let me start off by saying we love Grinders. Just not this one. We arrived and it was slow — very slow. We were a large party of 8 — and it took forever for us to get drinks. it was 25 minutes before we saw a server again to take our order — and another 45 minutes for our food to come out. So we were an hour and half in and hadn’t eaten anything but the 6 rolls that were brought to the table… We didn’t see a refill in that time either.
And then it gets worse — believe it or not — the air was on as it had warmed up during the day, but by the evening it was cool again so the females in our group were cold and we asked the ceiling fans to be turned off several times — to no avail.
When the food arrived about half the plates were cold and half were dry my guess is from sitting in a window on a hot plate. My wife had ordered the fried fish and was given horseradish sauce instead of tartar sauce (I know they are both white) — imagine her surprise as she took a big bite after putting a big smear on her fish! It took them 20 minutes to re-​fire the fish and by then — and two hours in — we gave up.
The manager came over to see if everything was ok — he got an earful. In the end — not even an accommodation — nothing to make this loathsome experience right just a I am sorry and he disappeared.
We will definitely go to Grinders — but we will avoid this location like its contagious disease ward.

I’ve got to update this review, the service seems to be going down hill at this grinders. My wife and I went there on a Friday @ 4:30 and expected to get served fairly quickly. However, when we walked in there was no one to greet us at the service station and no one even acknowledged we were there for a few minutes. There was even a line back to the entrance door, but all the employees were just hustling around not paying attention to the gathering of folks at the door. We were finally hurriedly seated and told a waitress would be with us shortly. We sat for 20 minutes and didn’t even meet our waitress. We eventually just got up and walked out and went to our other local favorite. We hope this grinders can fix it’s service issues. We would really like to keep being customers there, but the service has to improve. It may be worth the owner’s time to hire a consultant to take a look at how the manager is running the day to day operations, because something isn’t right. We actually went right up the street to Mi Casa where we were drinking cold beverages and chips and salsa within 3 minutes of being seated and served with a smile. It may pay dividends to have the owner Miguel come down and evaluate what’s not being done right at grinders. Like I said I would like grinders to succeed because we would really like someplace else in Hartville to go out to eat. Best of luck grinders, we’ll be looking for big improvements.

We arrived at Grinders on Friday around 4:30pm. We went early to avoid the rush. They were not busy at this time and we were seated fairly quickly. The hostess did leave us with a menu. Unfortunately, that’s where the service that we should have continued to receive ended. We spent a few minutes looking at the menu, and figured out what we planned to order, then folded the menus back up and waited for a waitress. We waited for at least 25 minutes. Nobody came and offered us even a water or took our drink order. There were only a few other tables with people in them in our section. I could understand a long wait time IF they happen to be super-​busy, but they weren’t even close. We sat there for 5 more minutes, looking around awkwardly, wondering what was going on, before deciding to get up and walk out. We decided to go to Mi Casa instead, and received fantastic customer service, as always. Grinders could be a great restaurant for Hartville, but the customer service needs major improvement.

We order from Grinders a lot. We eat there as a family and we order lunch there 2 – 3 times a month for our staff.
I have NEVER had a bad bit of food there. The onion rings are a little too much grease for me, but the fries are awesome so I just order those.
Every grinder I’ve had is delicious. If you don’t know what to order, go with the Southern Stack or Pedro’s Pick. I’m always in an argument with myself between the two.
I’ve also never had anything but great service there. When we pick our food up, the staff is quick to serve and friendly.
I think the amount of food you get, and the quality of it, is a great value.
Keep up the good work and we will keep chowing down on the Southern Stacks. Or the Pedro’s Pick. I can’t decide.

We love this place. We have been to the Minerva location and were happy to find this location when driving through Hartville. We had a young child with us and they gave her some snacks to start, which was great as it kept her occupied until dinner was served. We all got grinders and they were excellent. We also had chicken noodle soup which was really good. The wedding soup was odd in that it had croutons and no pastini. Service was quick and server was friendly and personable, which is what we always experience in Minerva. Will definitely be back.

We are not starting out very good. After we were seated it took 15 mins for our server to come over and great us. After we ordered it took another 15 mins for us to receive our drinks. Oh apparently when u order a root beer float they give a glass full of ice cream and a bottle of root beer, its one of those do it yourself kinda deals. I hope I don’t have to cook my own food. Well after about another 15 mins we received not only our app that we have waiting for but our entire meal. I sent the app back because it was pointless to have since my families entire meal was at the table as well. All around the service was horrible. The manager did come over to appologize and he made it right obviously by not charging us for the app but he removed all our drinks plus a 15% discount on the check as well. The one thing I don’t agree with was the bullshit line that he tried to feed us about being understaffed and not being prepared for the dinner rush and how it is never like this. Well the couple times we have went the service sucked. The food was ok. It was nothing special. The only selling point was we didn’t have to wash our dishes or pick up our mess from dinner or cook. This is one of those places I would only go to if I have no other ideas for something to eat.

Great place! This is a very new facility and is very nice. We had great service and great food. I had a steak and mushroom grinder with a side of fries and iced tea with peach. Definitely did not leave hungry! I highly recommend this place. Enjoy!
