This is our second time back to McAlister’s after my last review was posted, & I’m disappointed once again. The food was absolutely delicious, but the cashier that took my order tonight was literally the most unpleasant person I’ve ever been unfortunate enough to meet. Literally. This girl didn’t even acknowledge our presence & when she did, serving us seemed like a huge inconvenience to her. Although the food was delicious this go around, I’d avoid coming here just for that reason.

Many around here recommended this place for their sweet tea– I am a Carolina transplant and I find the sweet tea at most places around here to be weak and bland. Most of it tastes like the unsweet tea back home. This place was no exception, which was disappointing considering even their staff shirts are focused around their«famous sweet tea.» Oh well, still on the hunt. Occasionally I will get a sandwich here that is delicious and really hits the spot. Other times, the sandwich is mediocre and more like something I could’ve thrown together in my kitchen. A very expensive mediocre experience.

This is one of my favorite places in Harrisonburg to eat! The people are always really friendly and the service is quick. I love the salads and sandwiches. My favorite is the Orange-cranberry club! My kids love it too!

If you want a healthy club sandwich with a touch of orange and cranberry sauce, or a mile high Reuben reminiscent of the great NY delis, this is your place. All kinds of baked potatoes, salads, and a variety of sandwiches including a delicious pot roast. Just a tad shy of being an authentic New York level deli, it still satisfies that urge for great corned beef or pastrami. Try the fire roasted vegetable soup.

My wife and I really like coming here. Great salads and nice selection of sandwiches. Fresh veggies and no skimping on the meat for the sandwiches. The restaurant is very clean and the folks at the counter are very nice.

Two stars only because of the ridiculously good sweet tea and large drink size. Other than that, there is no reason to come here. Processed, boring food… Not even on the same level as Panara. Skip this place

McAlister’s had been recommended to us, but we likely wouldn’t return there to eat. The food and the selection was good, but compared to many other places, was definitely pricey. I think I really expected a bit more for what they were charging. My Smoky Pepper Jack Turkey sandwich was good, as was the rest of my family’s food, but left us feeling hungry not 15 minutes after we ate.

I wasn’t really a fan even though I might try them again one day… if my car is broken down in that parking lot or something. Food isn’t very flavorful. Try Panera Bread, they’re a lot better.

The line was long, the registers were mostly unstaffed and the patronage was mostly young couples with screaming babies. I ordered a taco salad that came and was mostly lettuce. They put a tortilla chip around the edge of the salad, so many 6 – 7 chips’ worth of crunchy there at best. The chili was about a spoonful. So really, this was all salad and virtually no taco. I was left wanting more of a taco salad but staring at just a pile of plain lettuce. Even the guac was more of a squirt than a scoop.

Food too expensive. Horrible wheat panini(didn’t know it was gonna be wheat). Not worth price at all. Something like quiznos or blimpie, much better. Disappointed.

Had to give this place a try while visiting our daughter. Half of our meals were really great while the other half were mediocre. Roast beef sandwich was very slim on the meat and part of it was all fat. The grilled cheese was all bread. I took it apart to see where the cheese was and it was barely there. On the other hand, son’s potato was gigantic and tasted great. Husband’s salad was also gigantic– enough for two. The ingredients were super fresh. Definite plus was the very friendly staff. Kind of on the pricey side for the type of restaurant.

Everything is good about the place. Food is fantastic(taste wise, not portion wise unfortunately), Atmosphere is very open and calm, and the people are always willing to refill you up anytime. The only downfall to this place is the price. It is way too expensive for these«gourmet» sandwiches, which a college student cannot really afford unless your taking a date out.

I went to McAlister’s because my daughter goes here with her college friends, and she wanted me to give it a try. For me: it was terrible… I ordered the muffuletta sandwich and it was all bread, and soft spongy bread with no texture/bite at all. The amount of meat in the sandwich was so minimal it was like they were trying to save $$. There should be more than a 1/3″ of meat/cheese in a muffuletta sandwich! I also ordered one of the soups of the day, a cheddar and broccoli soup. It had little pieces of broccoli stems in it and no florets to be found. It was also watery. For a cheddar/broccoli soup: shouldnt it be thicker or creamier? Dont waste your money here. I would have rather stopped at the drive through at Wendy’s.

Plastic food. Drenched in salt and served with a side of no nutritional value. I’d rather eat the styrofoam they pack to go items in. Do yourself a favor and find a local place to eat.
