Hey it’s not the downtown location so you can’t call it a landmark… just a Harrisonburg tradition. Great place to stop for a quick hot dog or burger.

I got a hotdog and split a serving of cheese fries with the table. The hot dog tasted like something you would’ve gotten from a school cafeteria and the cheese fries were frozen crinkle cuts from the store with a slice of American cheese microwaved on top. Really sub par food, but on the upside it was for really cheap prices.

Great greasy chili dogs. Good frIes, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and cheese burgers. Clean diner– like atmosphere, service was good. They offer a nice selection of pies and milkshakes although I’ve never tried them. This place is a branch off the downtown location that has been there for ages. If you’re craving greasy comfort food, this place hits the spot. Spacious booths, big tables and great counter space.

Home-grilled diner-type food in a family friendly, low-key environment. Nothing fancy, and never claimed to be. Outdated décor, sure, but people talking about cleanliness need to double-check their assumptions. Friendly and efficient service. Menu is simple: Burgers, hot dogs, fries, sodas(in cans), and great sweet tea. Today there were 8 kinds of pie to choose from, and the ice cream side is a very tasty vanilla. Easier parking than the downtown location.

Good hotdogs… great chocolate milkshake and onion rings. Atmosphere was diner quality. Service was attentive. if I lived in the area would probably frequent regularly.

On the upside, we didn’t get food poisoning… Yet. On the downside, well everything else. The menu is very short and reminds me of a concession stand at a ball game. The service was subpar. And the worst part is paying! Debit/Credit card uses what they call a «cashless ATM». Basically, you get a 20 out, they keep what you owe and give you the change ANDITINCURS A 1.50FEE?! What?! Won’t be returning. But worth checking out if you want little league ballpark food but don’t have kids.

Yeah, that’s the last time I take a stellar rating and«hot dogs» at face value and plan a visit that’ll leave me floored. Nostalgia doesn’t need to mean salmonella or other foodborne diseases, folks. This place is grotty. Totally grotty. Like worse than the gas station’s rotating rack grotty.

In my opinion, Jess’s Lunch makes the best Hot Dogs in Harrisonburg. They’re cheap and really good here. You get a bang for your buck! The only problem is if you’re paying with a credit/debit card, beware! Their card machines charges $ 2.00. Staff is always friendly.

A homeless woman offered me the rest of her fries. This was the highlight of my lunch. Dogs were ok … but nothing special other than tradition here.

Don’t expect fancy when you come here but what you can expect are amazing chili dogs, onions rings and fries. It’s a far cry from health food but it’s great if you’re craving something greasy.

The food is excellent(even that it’s unhealthy) but the place is very dirty and the servers are very unprofessional. The bathroom had a strong smell of urine and the dining floor was covered in napkins. The servers aren’t professional because they don’t know which tables that they’re supposed to serve. Like, a server came to us, asked us what drinks we wanted and then another server came and didn’t know we already had a server.

Great Hot Dogs, Burgers, and Shakes. I think the building used to be a bank… you have to drive up to the window to order in the drive-thru, so the wait can be quite long.

Best hot dog ever. Their fries are amazing and their chilli dogs are addicting. portion is small so normal person would probably need two or three to be satisfied. Also they have very pretty girls in their shorts waiting on you with big smiles on their face(Not in a condecsending sense at all. My buddy works there). Little piece of heaven, I must say. If you’re passing by Harrisonburg or visiting someone at JMU, definitely pay a visit to Jess’s Lunch #1 or #2!!!
