This place is pretty great! I love their chicken tenders, they are very well seasoned and cooked! The pizza is a 50⁄50. Please keep in mind that I am definitely a pizza snob. It’s either a little burnt or cooked great! The toppings have a nice flavor, but I will say the onions are quite strong. The customer service is great for delivery. It’s generally the same guy and he’s very personable.

Dave’s Taverna was eaten many a drunk and sober days at JMU. Food was good at a fair price. My go to was the gyro. Also opening the patio area made even more appealing to go to get a drink and enjoy the nice weather. 3⁄5 because the food was good but not great and the service could have been better.

Can’t say this is a very good restaurant choice in harrisonburg. Went there for the second time and was still disappointed with everything. Service wasn’t very good, with the wrong drinks/​sizes being brought out. And my veggie burger tasted like a frozen patty cooked at a high school or college. Good place for college kids who don’t care what they eat but as far as everyone else in the burg, go to greens and grains across the street.

Used to always order the Steak and Cheese w/​chips at the Express location. My first time going to the new location on Port did not disappoint. The server was attentive and the food was just as good as before. Would come back in a heartbeat!

I actually wish I could give this restaurant a negative star rating. Really terrible. Ordered for delivery — the food was cold and the order wasn’t correct. If you pay extra to add to a burger, etc. then I don’t think it’s stretching it for the restaurant to get it right. We have lived here almost 20 years and have given this place (the one downtown and this location) a chance off and on throughout that time but the time has come to just forget it. Before, even when the service stunk and believe me, it does! the food was normally ok but this time we ordered and the food has gone down hill. There are so many better restaurants in Harrisonburg, do yourself a favor and don’t bother with this place — unless it’s 2AM and you either have no idea or don’t care what you are eating.

Semi-​regular visitor since the management shift and I couldn’t be happier. I usually go for a sub or gyro (paired with homemade chips and perfect tzatziki). Top-​tier cheesesteak and pizza. Everything just tastes fresh. Solid specials, events, and local craft beer are all highlights. Welcoming service makes it a great place to keep coming back.

So apparently there’s a new owner. Whoever it was, made the menu smaller (which was a good idea), but everything is still SO BAD. Don’t come here. Go to McDonalds before you come here. Go to that chain «tropical smoothie» before you come here… Just trust me.

My friends and I had the absolute worst service tonight. We were warned that they were understaffed, which I totally understand and am sympathetic for, but we waited 30 minutes and were not even served water. We also watched the table next to us, who arrived 15 minutes after us, get served drinks and had their food order taken. We had to ask the manager for a waiter and 10 minutes later were told they were not taking food orders. This is my third bad experience at daves. Will not be returning.

My honest review of Dave’s is a 5⁄5. Why? Because it’s has great food at unbeatable prices, and amazingly priced beer. Their menu is very diverse. If you want a quality slice, that’s fine, or you can indulge in one of the areas best gyros! They also have 24 beers on tap. That includes the good (brother and three notched) to the bad (natty and bud) with several more In between. As for liquor, their selection has grown diversely! I can’t speak too much on that because I try to avoid it, but it is a quality variety. As for the establishment in general, the bathrooms are almost always clean (major plus). The bar is solid. And Finally, they have a stellar deck for people to eat and drink outside.

Disregard any new management reviews. I’ve just ordered something as simple as a cheese pizza and a gyro. The cheese pizza tasted like throw up and when I asked my boyfriend to see if it were maybe just my tastebuds that were wrong, he proceeded to spit up the food. His gyro smelled so gross that I wouldn’t let him eat it. I do not recommend, in fact, I encourage you not to go here regardless of the costs.
