The gelato here is the best I’ve ever had, and the taste is consistent. They always have new flavors.

You’d be lucky to find gelato this good in Brooklyn or Manhattan, much less in Hanover. Simply great: the best gelato I’ve had outside of Italy. And though it’s frustrating when they run out of a flavor you’re craving just before you get to order, it’s also very comforting to know that part of controlling quality is making small batches so the gelato is constantly fresh. Outstanding!

This place is the bomb. When Forbes magazine crowns your tiny college town’s local gelato place as «the best gelato in the United States,» you’d better believe it’s pretty good… and it is! Morano’s gelato is the best I’ve tasted anywhere in the U.S., and that’s saying something, since I eat gelato on the regular wherever I am. Since flavors rotate on a day-to-day and season-to-season basis based on ingredient availability(which is how it’s supposed to be done, by the way, based on how Italians make gelato), the way to do it is to try new flavors each time. That said, the pistachio — which is the standard flavor by which one can gauge a gelato joint’s offerings — is always good, as is the straciatella. Definitely get the loyalty card — once you develop an addiction to this place(which you will), it’ll really pay off.

I decided to stop in Hanover for a bite to eat on my way to Norwich, VT. I stumbled upon this sweet lil gelato hang out while browsing through reviews of the local favorites. After grabbing a slice at Ramunto’s, I made my way over to Morano’s and I’m so glad I did. On my way inside, I walked by a few people who were relaxing in the sunshine and enjoying their sweet treats at the outdoor tables on the brick courtyard. I was greeted promptly and I was happily the only one in line(on a weekday evening). I decided on a medium with three flavors: espresso honey, blueberry & dark chocolate. None of the flavors disappointed. In hindsight, I wish I had stuck with the espresso & chocolate combo but the blueberry was delicious. It had tiny bits of blueberries which was tasty but mildly annoying at the same time. The young woman who cashed me out was super friendly and topped off my gelato experience! I would have given 5 stars if I was offered to sample the flavors.

The fruit flavored of gelato were very natural and not artificial tasting at all. Cute little shop. However, this gelato was so rich that you do not need very much to satisfy your craving for something sweet unless you have a serious sweet tooth. My sister had the dark chocolate and strawberry combined into one cup which was a fantastic combo!

Holy crap, this is honestly the best gelato/ice cream I have ever had in my life. Ever. And it’s not just me who says it(google morano + Forbes). You can go daily to see the different flavors they have every day but the classic ones that I die over are pistachio and hazelnut. I think the milk ones are better than the nondairy fruit ones — and I’m someone who will choose strawberry flavored whatever over anything! Go here — it’s amazing.

Morano has some great gelato. We were on a college visit to Dartmouth and several folks had recommended we stop here. Our tour ended at 3:15 on a nice warm July summer day and the air conditioning was a welcome start to our visit here. Fortunately, there wasn’t a line when we got here so I didn’t feel guilty asking for samples as there were quite a few great flavors beckoning from behind the glass. I eventually settled on a cup with three flavors: orange-almond, chocolate hazelnut and peach. I normally wouldn’t have had the fruit with those other two, but it was so good(as were the citrus and melon that I also tasted) that I couldn’t resist. The staff was quite friendly and the store was clean, airy and with plenty of seats that evoked the feeling of being in a gelato shop in Italy. If you are in Hanover, I’d encourage you to stop by. If went to Dartmouth, I’d make frequent stops to this place, especially during warm fall or spring days.

People here do love this place but I’m much more a fan of other gelato places in cities… but this will do. Don’t like: that there are times they run out and just close. That’s just not professional. I know you make it homemade but still, closing at 8 if u run out is bad form. Sometimes their servers are more involved in their OWN conversations w/each other than paying attention to you – ironically, when it’s less busy. I do wish that some of their flavors had more«chunks» in them… e.g., hazelnuts in the baccio. Like: changing flavors w/popular ones always on the menu. Their spicy chocolate gelato is spectacular :)

My brother told me the owner studied the gelato making process in Italy, so I had high expectations — and they were met. It just tasted so fresh. Parents said it was better than my fave gelato spot in Philly, which is saying a lot since that was rated best in the world by National Geographic. Dare I say it? They just might be right.

This place is actually amazing. I ordered the Italian Wine Custard and the Sweet Milk after debating hard between all of the wonderful choices and it was a delight. The Sweet Milk was light and not too sweet and you could really taste a distinct milk flavor. The Italian Wine Custard was also delicious, tasting like custard with some undertones of banana(I personally couldn’t taste any wine but I was fine with that). The consistency of the gelato here was a perfect mix of smooth, creamy, and light, with nothing overwhelming. Yum if you ever drop by Hanover, make sure to try out Morano!

Morano Gelato is hands down one of my favorite places in Hanover! There is always a good selection of flavors — my personal favorites are biscotti(cookie) and nocciola(hazelnut). The greek yogurt flavor is really good as well. Having lived in Rome for a bit, I have high standards for gelato and Morano never disappoints. The staff is always friendly and the gelato is always delicious!

There have been countless professional reviews that have been written about this place… and I’m no gelato connoisseur so I can’t speak to how authentic this gelato is, but it sure is good. Morano is such a classic staple for the Dartmouth student. Flavors are made freshly every day and come and go with the seasons. You can get a small(1 – 2 flavors), medium($ 4.25, 1 – 3 flavors), and a large. You can also get your gelato in with espresso aka the gelato affogato or in a brioche roll. So much yummy. You used to be able to sample an unlimited number of flavors, but apparently they’ve capped it at 2 when I went yesterday. I typically get the sweet milk paired with whatever is around. yesterday I got the Maple Caramel which was pretty on point. The gelato here has amazing texture, is never too sweet, and just the right amount of gelato consistency – having traveled around Italy in hunt for the perfect gelato, I actually found myself often craving Morano. Honestly, almost all the flavors are on point, and the people who are scooping your gelato really know how to pair flavors, so it’s in your best interest to probably ask them for recommendations. Morano also has a small café area and serves espresso drinks, etc. Seating has never been a problem in the numerous times I’ve gone. Staff is friendly, and you’re always bound to bump into some Dartmouth people. tldr; a must have/hidden gem in Hanover

Went on the hunt for some good ice cream on a hot summer day. My husband and I ended up at this beautiful gelato place. The inside looks likr a wonderful European café, and the staff was super friendly. I ordered the mango and banana gelato. The banana one was sweet and creamy. I wish they have vanilla wafers to scoop it up it! The mango was more tart but still full of flavor. They sell Illy coffee, which I have always enjoyed. They make their gelato fresh every morning, and have wonderful photos in the wall of thier staff making the fresh gelato. A wonderful hidden upscale café in the middl of the New Hampshire hills.

Dark chocolate and pistachio were incredible. I get these two flavors everywhere I go and this place is up there with the best ones. Pineapple was flavorful, but not my cup of tea.
