Come here for a cozy ol’style American diner atmosphere, not for the food. Our waitress was nice, though the place seems rather run down. Seems to be a local favorite by the interacts between guests and wait-​staff.

I have eaten here a few times over the years for breakfast and lunch and it has always been okay, simple diner food. Today I took my 3 boys for breakfast. My two year old got 1 pancake, my 8 year old and 11 year old each got one Belgian Waffle with a side of bacon, I got eggs and bacon. I noticed the prices were a little high, but not really a big deal. When they added up the bill, it was $ 40. $ 40 for 2 waffles, 1 pancake, a few eggs and bacon. I looked at the bill, the waffles cost $ 6.75 and the «side of bacon» was $ 3.99. Seriously guys, $ 11 dollars for a waffle and bacon? The food was fine, but I felt like I should have called the cops after I saw the bill because there was a robbery that occurred in Arbutus this morning.

This is a favorite restaurant of ours. It captures the home town feel that I love about Arbutus. We only come for breakfast but it is consistently delicious.

I want to like this place but have to give it a bad review because the food just isn’t good. I’ve only had breakfast here thus far. Last time I ordered a western omelet and the vegetables inside the omelet seemed undercooked. The breakfast potatoes were so tasteless and bland that I had to smother them in syrup to eat them. I could make a much better breakfast at home.
Since this is in the area and on my way home I do stop in from time to time for coffee and pie, which is made in-​house and is decent. The coffee is actually quite good. Because I have inadvertently become a semi-​regular I felt the need to update my review and add a star.

Love the old diner feel. Prices are a little high for what they serve, but the service more than makes up for it. Eggs were fresh and not from a pour carton. The Scrapple was cooked perfect and the sausage links had just the right bite to them. Coffee was fresh. My cousin had an emergency and we had to go, and the server was very accommodating and wrapped everything up for us on the fly. Definitely worth a return trip!

I don’t get the horrible reviews; my wife and I went there for breakfast and it wasn’t super but it wasn’t the worst either. My omelet was pretty good but I didn’t like the home fries. Service was friendly although the food was a little slow to come out (it was busy). I’ll try it again for dinner.

I have family in this area and Paul’s has been our close-​by go-​to diner restaurant for many years. It’s the kind of place frequented by a lot of regulars and senior citizens, where there is good stuff and not-​so-​good stuff on the menu, with a staff that reminds me of that «Alice Doesn’t Live Here Any More» movie. This is the kind of place that the state politicians always want to drop by when they pass through, that has electronic Keno and horse racing games on little TVs and waitresses that say «hun» with no trace of hip irony. I grew up eating in places like this with my parents, so it feels homey even though it’s not likely to be hitting the Food Network any time soon.
We don’t do breakfast, we eat lunch and dinner here. Basic rule for a place like this is stick to the stuff they do well, which includes pretty much every variation on a hamburger/​fries/​onion rings and similar. I’ve never had a bad burger here. Crab cake sandwiches and dishes are OK, when they have them. Fried anything is generally good. Desserts with ice cream such as floats and pie a la mode are good.
One thing to avoid here: any sort of hot sandwich with gravy, because the food will be absolutely drowned and the gravy tastes like it came straight from a store brand can. The coffee is not great, it’s on the weak side, but it’s acceptable for diner-​coffee-​with-​your-​food.
Service varies depending on who’s on staff, usually there’s only one or two people and they can be overworked during busy hours, but always seem to be pretty friendly and patient. If you’re in a big hurry you probably don’t want to go here. This place is more geared to sitting a while and talking. I would be sad if this place disappeared leaving only strip malls and Applebees in its wake.

Paul’s is a place that makes new people feel like regulars. It has all the charm of a non-​chain small town diner. No doubt the waitress will call you «hon» and will keep the coffee coming the whole time you’re there.
Me and a friend love to go there and sit in the same booth every time. Its awesome to see the same old folks bringing their grandkids in on a Saturday morning. Great breakfast food!
Its so much better than going to a bob evans or eggspectations! You’ll love this place.

This place was awful! It’s full of regulars and they want to keep it that way, obviously.
We (2 friends and I) showed up at 12 for a breakfast, first mistake. We gave our order after sitting at our table without notice for 5 minutes. Our drinks were empty at 1215 and our server was gracious enough to come by to tell us she was leaving at 1230 (without our food) and pass the buck on to another server, who then proceeded to completely ignore us. At 12:45 we quit on this place with our cups and stomaches empty. We left money to pay for the drinks and vowed to never speak of it, other than to warn the good people of the world to avoid this pit of despair.

Best Breakfast in this area? Obviously those who voted have never eaten there. The food was bad at best. $ 12 for a soggy waffle and a slice of ham that cut in four could have been cheap pizza topping.
