This is a pretty good place. It’s a little old school with the décor but I’m not coming to eat that. Service is very friendly and attentive. The portions are very nicely sized and the prices are reasonable. They did an excellent job with a large birthday party we were with. The cake presented with a firecracker was really cool and a nice touch.

Went in for a later lunch on a Sunday and I found my experience to be ‘OK’. It didn’t knock me out of my socks, but I didn’t hate it. The positives: The salad was awesome. Not only was it unlimited, the dressing was great and it was fresh. It was the best thing we had. The not so positive: My wife and the Mussels and they were the worst she had all weekend(she loves mussels). They weren’t sour, just didn’t care for them. I had the unlimited soup and had french onion to start. The onion soup was good, but not great, and was luke warm. My next soup was the maryland crab and it was good, just too vegetable-y for me. The décor is very outdated and reminded me of an old school supper club or somewhere you would go for a PTA meeting. The service was excellent and was the reason for the 3 rating. The bartender was funny, friendly, and made our meal enjoyable.

I really liked it here. It’s like the nicer version of Olive Garden. Their pink sauce is delicious! Try it out!

Huge location with a great interesting menu. Stopped in for take out and check out the location. Grabbed a crab cake sandwich that came fries and big house salad. The crab cake was really delicious. They charge 50¢ for take out, little strange but I understand. I ordered at the bar and while it took sometime, the food was fresh hot and very yummy. The decorations of the establishment are nice and the I liked the lighting. Lots of room for big families and also nice intmate for smaller parties!

Our family dined here recently on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly as there was no wait. Our server was friendly and prompt, that was probably the highlight. It’s hard to review Italian restaurants because if you don’t like their sauce, it’s pretty hard to recover. At Olive Grove, the sauce was sweet, thick and somewhat acidic, that was not a hit with our family. For the food… the cream of crab soup was ok, it had some nice chunks of crab but it was too thick for my taste and needed sherry. The ravioli was not that great, we’ve had better. I had the southern italian platter which was also somewhat decent, but again smothered in the sauce. My wife had the pollo alla florentine which was pretty much inedible. The sauce was awful and it had too much spinach. Overall, I doubt we’ll be back. My wife and kids thought that Olive Garden is better than Olive Grove so that should give you an idea of how our evening went.

Went to a group event today. Two events were booked in the ball room with only a curtain to separate the two groups. One group was having a meeting lunch while the other was a party lunch with live music. Management was upset at the level the DJ was playing since it was interfering with the meeting. They were also upset that the curtain was being opened so the one group could see the other. Very unfriendly staff when the problem was theirs due to over booking a small area. The food was buffet style but served by the staff and not very warm. I was not impressed at all with the food or service. Their was a problem with the plumbing in the ladies room and again the staff had an ugly response to this problem and they were not very nice to the ladies in the rest room. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are planning an event.

Late night eats after a festive day in MD at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. I’ve seen some locals I know check in at this place on FaceBook and I added a Bookmark on Unilocal after seeing the items they were enjoying to remind me to try this place out upon our return. I made a reservation on OpenTable for a party of 6 plus 2 babies at about 8:30pm and we were immediately seated upon our arrival way back in the private section(that said sarcastically). We were deep in the back basically but it we okay because we had been to a wine festival and had plenty to drink so we would be sure to laugh a lot. I ordered the sangria which was horrible it was soooo bitter I had to send it back. The food was all around awesome we had everything from crab stuffed chicken to lump crab salmon to crab cakes to broccoli to soup. No one had any complaints in our group and everyone had to go packages as the portions were plentiful. I look forward to our return visit to the DMV to try this place again.

Took me a minute to get prepared to write the review for this visit. My hubby and I had never been here however my mother in law has visited before. It was actually her birthday and she requested to come here especially for the crab imperial. The inside is ok, a little older in the décor. The menu is extensive and their wine menu is ok however it was way overpriced. We ordered the crab dip for our appetizer. I will say this was probably one of the BEST crab dips I have ever had. It was amazing. For our entrees we had the crab imperial, NY strip with baked potato and the catch of the day which was rockfish. Overall we had a good experience. Our waiter was nice and prompt. The bill was not that much but it was high since I ordered a bottle of wine :). We will visit again if in the area.

Friendly staff but it stops there. One of the worst restaurants we have ever been to. Went with 14 family members to celebrate A birthday. Called ahead for reservations and also day before to let them know we were coming. Décor was old fashioned and not clean looking. Food was bland, dry and looked like it was put together by elementary school students. Didn’t get appetizers or dessert. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. Definately would have left if it wasn’t a special occasion with a big party. Stay away from this place and take the trip into Baltimore. Wish we did! The one star is for the outstanding Salad and breadsticks.

The BEST pasta dish I have had in forever!!! Our waitress, Angie, was the best. She made awesome recommendations, knows the restaurant and the area like a pro! Again, the food is amazing. Come here and eat!!!

Great place! Never had a bad meal here. Love their crab cakes, although their soft shell crabs were back on the menu as a special this past Saturday. Love their crab soup. Of course their delicious salad and breadsticks to start which comes with your meal. Large restaurant, never had to wait, but be sure to make a reservation just in case its a truly busy night. Large parking lot and relatively close to I-695. Give this place a try, you won’t regret it!

I’m in Baltimore working on a production project at a nearby conference center. My local crew members suggested Olive Grove as a place with good crab cakes. The hotel shuttle drove me over. It’s an Italian place and I was about the only out if towner in the house — workers picking up carry out at the bar, a couple birthday parties. I ordered the surf and turf — 6oz filet and a crab cake. I don’t have much to compare since I’ve had one Maryland crab cake before. This one was quite good. The filet, on the other hand was a little over cooked and more like a rib eye. I never know what to expect from places that aren’t steak places. I did have the pasta side — which had a good sauce. Was it worth $ 28.95? For the experience yes, but I noticed all the locals were served more traditional fare like lasagne and fettuccine alfredo. I did have a local microbrew lager from the Heavy Seas brewery, which was good. There’s another good crab cake place in this ‘hood, but I think I’ve had my fill.

We were visiting family & asked the hotel for restaurant suggestions. Olive Grove was awesome. The employees are outgoing & accommodating. The hostess doesn’t just seat you. She asks where you are from and how you are doing. The server was attentive and didn’t miss water refills and extra requests. The chef even came out to say hello. The only detail that is better at Olive Garden is the breadsticks. Everyone was happy with their food choices. We had a great time. The tomato soup is creamy and delicious. The french onion soup had a tasty broth. The salad was fresh and delicious. The restaurant sells the dressing. It is yummy. Hubby had the crab sandwich. He enjoyed it. My cousin had the eggplant parmesan. She loved it. I had the ravioli. The sauce was rich and amazing. The only area of improvement is the layout of the restaurant. It is a bit confusing. If you need to find the bathroom, it feels like you are walking into the kitchen. I look forward to our next visit.

I still love the crab cakes! Went today for a leisurely lunch. It was not crowded. We had Tim, who had a trainee. If she pays attention, she will be every bit as gracious as he was! Now, the meal was great as always. The salad was fresh and we always ask for extra parm. My crab cake and fries were delish. I even saved room for their triple layer chocolate cake, but ended up eating the rest of the salad and bringing the cake home. I meant to finish my meal with a glass of limoncello, but if I had, I would be asleep by now. Worth the drive and the money.

Hands down, my favorite restaurant. I can’t recommend it enough! jBest italian joint outside of Little Italy! Also their crab cakes are on par with G&M(just a block away), but a couple bucks cheaper! Eat, drink, be merry, & take a box of frozen crab cakes(also cheaper & easier to cook than G&M) & a bottle of homemade italian dressing for the road! If you’re like me you’ll become a frequent dinner real fast! Ask your waitress/waiter about their frequent dinner program!

I think this is Olive Garden East Coast. Same salad. Not as good of breadsticks. Liked the rocket launcher birthday candle. Almost singed grandma at the next table. Okay but nothing to rave about. Our waiter Michael a Greek sort of ex pat(you will just have to ask him) was a great waiter.

My boyfriend and I had just landed at BWI and wanted to kill some time to let traffic die down. We checked out the reviews here and decided to stop in for dinner. The décor was a little old and outdated, especially the carpet. Other than that, the food and service was pretty good. Our server, Tim, was awesome!!! He immediately greeted us as we were seated. He took our drink orders, ran down the specials, and allowed us sufficient time to peruse the menu. After a few minutes, he returned to take our order. He told us that unlimited salad and breadsticks, were included in our meals. My boyfriend ordered the MD crab soup and said it was a little spicy but pretty good. The salad and breadsticks was fine. The breadsticks were served with butter, which made them tastier than usual breadsticks. I ordered the seafood fettuccini, minus the scallops and crabmeat and added broccoli. Tim was super accommodating to this request and when my meal was delivered, it was exactly what I wanted. The Alfredo sauce was tasty and the shrimp was in abundance! My boyfriend ordered the stuffed rockfish and broccoli. He loved his meal! Cleaned his plate! He really enjoyed the flavor of the fish and the portion was very large. Definitely a good place to stop in for dinner. If you do, ask for TIM. He was the reason I rated this 4 stars instead of 3.

Serviceable, but I only come here if someone else is paying. I’ve been here 2 – 3 times for work functions and once for lunch. The work functions were a buffet style of their Italian dishes. If you’ve ever had a Stouffer’s frozen Italian meal, then you’ve eaten at Olive Grove. Edible, but nothing mind blowing. For lunch, I had the crab cake sandwich with fries. it comes with salad and bread sticks just like Olive Garden. The salad and bread sticks were actually pretty good surprisingly. The crab cake comes on a kaiser roll and is served with cocktail sauce on the side. I asked for tartar sauce and the server returned quickly. The kaiser roll was dry, cheap, and falls apart, hindering the crab cake. The crab cake itself had very little seasoning on it and falls apart even though its consistency was wet. I added layers of cocktail and tartar sauce to give it some flavor. The fries were ok, but you can tell they were frozen and were the cheap frozen kind at that. The décor is outdated, but the service was on point with refills and attitude. They seem to cut corners to save on costs with the quality of their food and the décor of the restaurant. I guess there is no reason to change when sheep flock this place.
