I come to this place at least twice a week on my lunch break. To summarize: quick service, the best lengua tacos ever, salsas are good, and the aguas too!
First and foremost, the lengua tacos are the best! The lengua here is like no other. Most places just braise the lengua with spices, and it looks like little cubes of tender beef tongue. here, I wanna say the slow roast it or something, because it is falling apart and all shredded. It’s unlike any other lengua I’ve had and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Also, the tacos gobernador are delicious! Shrimp and cheese in a handmade tortilla lightly fried. They serve em with a green salsa that tastes like aguachiles, if you know what I mean.
This place is a must if you’re in the mood for some authentic Mexican tacos.

Came her with my sister for a late lunch. Service was great restaurant and res streams are clean food is amazing we had tacos al vapor and Gobernador highly recommend this place. Will define let be back

Best Mexican food I’ve had! I go all the time and they’re always so nice and always get the order right! The carne asada tacos and cheese quesadilla are so good. The sour cream is really good too for some reason lol! Highly recommend!

Taco Al Vapor is what I want to try per reviews for this place; cabesa, asada, and pastor. They have all the other Mexican menu such as burritos, torta, biera, relleyno, desayunos, etc. they’re street tacos with just onion and cilantro toppings. They only have green mild salsa, and spicy yellow habanero salsa. The habanero had good flavor and heat but not over powering. The cabeza was simple but had best flavor of the trio tacos. The pastor was very good and I’d order it again. The asada was good but flavor was lacking comparing to the other tacos.
Atmosphere: 3.5÷5 stars.
Small local taqueria that seats 30. Nice and clean. TV on back wall playing some Spanish game show. AC adequate but not cold. Open kitchen on one side and 12 tables for about 30 people on the other. A comfortable local eatery.
Service: ³⁄₅ stars.
Nothing fancy here. Order at cashier. They take CC. Wait for food. Pick up at another window. Small self serve salsa bar next to cashier. Drinks refill is limited to 2 per sign on soda machine. Food does take some time to come out so don’t come when you’re in a hurry.
Expense: ⁵⁄₅ stars.
This should be on your Cheap eat list. Nothing exceeds $ 9. Taco Tuesday $ 0.89 per regular taco excluding fish, shrimp, etc.
Return: ⁴⁄₅ stars.
Definitely when I’m in the area and want some good Mexican food.
Overall 3.75 stars and rounded it up to 4.

Not worth the price anymore. Food shrunk and price went up. Plus they are kind of greedy on the condiments and even try to limit the drink refills to two per person via a sign on the soda machine. Taking two stars off and looking for a new place to grub.

Tacos al vapor, steamed tacos, very tasty! The torta cubana is a beast with multiples flavors and meats. Try the Governor tacos, simply the best!

I ordered an asada torta and it was just ok. 3 tacos of lengua and the meat was smushy plus they’re super tiny, not worth $ 1.10 a piece. Orchata is more money than a soda but didn’t taste that good. Sorry but I did not like the experience. Maybe if I try something else I’ll like it better but I don’t think I’ll be coming back. And don’t expect chips and salsa on the table because they don’t do that here.

My boyfriend and I randomly saw this place one day and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did, this has become one of our favorite places. My favorites are the Al Pastor ($ 1.10) and the Chicharron ($ 1.35). What makes the tacos even more flavorful is their beautiful habanero salsa. Dear Lord I’m so in love with it. I always add so much to my tacos that my eyes will start to water, but even though my mouth is on fire, it’s very very happy.
The sign outside says their taco Tuesday deal is 85 cent tacos al vapor, which is pretty much the basic ones like asada, cabeza, pastor, pollo, etc. The ones like chicharron, papa, and shrimp aren’t included.
Warning: the horchata here is absolutely AWFUL. We ordered it once and never again will we even think of ordering it.
I’m giving it 5 stars because I love the tacos and salsa so dearly that the horchata doesn’t even matter to me.

This place is good bit dam they are slow they take way too long to give you your food…
The other place on azusa is faster
And yes they are very tight with the salsas and limes

Had the carne asada, cabeza, as pastor, and chicken tacos for 89 cents each. Best tacos were the carne asada. They were simple but good. Good customer service.

I came here for my first time today and the first thing I saw was a «B» rating. Normally that’d turn me off and I’d find somewhere else but the inside looked very welcoming and the place was busy. So I decided to give it a try. I ordered an Al pastor burrito and some horchata. As I waited for my food I looked around at other dishes and I’d have to say, they all looked pretty impressive. The staff was very kind and professional to everyone and I got my food in a timely manner. The food tasted good, not great, but good. And the horchata was nice and creamy. As for that «B» I honestly couldn’t see why it got it. The place was clean and nothing seemed irregular (I worked in the food industry, I know what bad looks like).
Overall, I’m excited try again and see what else they have. I enjoyed my experience and would recommend it to my friends.

This is my go to taco place. My boyfriend always wants to come on Tuesdays. I am trying differwnt things each time i visit and i have never been disappointed.

Food is good, TOO bad they are SUPER tight with the salsas, four salsas for three burritos? Bullshit! $ 17.00! ?? And they NEVER answer the Phone! !! Super slow service. But like i said the food is good…

Vivo en Hacienda Heights e pasado muchas veces por este lugar mas nunca me me atreví a probarlo. Una compañera de trabajo me sugirio probar la comida de aqui y me gusto. Bengo aqui una vez por semana les recomiendo probar el burrito mojado. Brenda y el servicio es agradable! ^_^

There’s a huge sign on the window advertising .85 cent tacos on Tuesday. They are very specific about which tacos fall under the special. You must eat in. I waited for over 20 mins. Other people that came in way after I ordered were served before me. I guess they don’t want people ordering their advertised specials. Or they are just terrible at keeping track of the orders.
P. S. If you’re gonna order the special make sure you order the meat that applies because they will not tell you and just charge you regular prices

The tortas are a must here, the bukanera is beyond delicious and the service is always good two thumbs up guys

The steam table the cook on is the best. I have never had tacos or food cooked this way. Its always packed so you know the food is good.

Omg the tacos al vapor here are the best! Even tho their pretty small ther’worh it! Their cheap 1.35 and deliciouse. Everytime I’m about to order my mouth is getting watery just thinking about them lol I’ve introduced a couple of people to this place and they all keep coming back its just that good and don’t get me started on the nachos! The workers here are very friendly and make u feel comfortable! I always come back specially if I get treated good! Excellent service

This place rocks! Their typic street tacos are flavorful and delicious as well as their fish and shrimp tacos! I have to say there fish tacos are excellent from this side of town!

The taste was just ok. Other dishes looked good, but so did the Torta (see picture).
Today you get 2 stars, El Bukanas. If I ever return and get a better tasting dish AND better service, I will revisit my review. Meh
