Staff was very attentive and fast. The menu is vast and had a good choice of food. I had the Cobb salad and loved it. A bit too much blue cheese for my taste, but still very good. Wish it was served in a bigger bowl since it was hard to mix the salad. My hubby had the ribs, they were great. We got the cherry pie for dessert and liked it. Prices were good. You can eat in the bar or on the new area, both are great but the bar is cool.

Had a wonderful vegetarian breakfast of potatoes, salsa and avocado. Hubby had the home made sausage gravy plate and my son had the pancakes. Priced well, good portions, great food and fantastic service! Will go back when we hit Yosemite up again!

Only good thing here is the beer came in from out of town looking for a burger place thought this establishment would hit the spot. Nope elderly woman was nice, but when she had brought my girlfriend and myselfs food it was warm not hot and the order was completely wrong. Place looks cool tho… if you’re into that kind of thing over food.

On my brothers away on vacation over Labor Day weekend. We all took a break from the cabin and went out to eat at the iron door fantastic waitstaff very courteous and friendly. Lori was tremendously helpful and friendly. It is a must stop on your way up 120.

From the second I walked in, to the moment I left, my experience was not very pleasant here. From the salad bar with limp lettuce that welcomes you in, to the unmarked bathrooms in the back, to the sticky tables that cling to your elbows, to finally, the subpar food, and a single ketchup bottle being the ONLY one for all of the customers in the entire restaurant… add the hour it took for my party to get its food, and bang, you get a one star. The food: cold French fries, a western cheeseburger(the only difference being added BBQ sauce), my friend’s tough, overpriced ribs. They got the temperature on my burger right, though! All in all, their dining room should not be as large as it is, because they clearly cannot handle getting slammed the way they did. And it wasn’t even full when we got there. Their food, being one of the only options open after hungry and tired campers come out of Yosemite, needs to be better. The reason I’m not just giving one star: their hospitality was excellent. Our server was kind, attentive, and very cheery.

The Iron Door is a Groveland landmark saloon that shouldn’t be missed, just skip eating here as there are better places in town. The saloon was packed to the rafters. The restaurant dining room was sparse for Friday night dinner, but we were pressed for time and the great Mexican restaurant had a long wait. Buddies ordered the burger and it was really nothing special. I ordered fish and chips and while the batter was crisp on the outside the inside could have been cooked longer. The staff were very friendly, food served quickly, but really the only thing special here is the saloon.

After backpacking for a week in Yosemite, we couldn’t wait for burger, fries and cold beer. Instead I got cold burger, cold beer. Seriously, the burger was warm in some spots and stone cold in others. It was obvious that it was just microwaved and slapped on a bun. Maybe the worst burger I ever had. But the sweet potato fries were great and the the ambiance is classic.

We were heading home from spending a week in Yosemite, someone mentioned going to the Iron Door Bar & Grill for breakfast. Parking was a little weird especially with a fully loaded Suburban — I believe there’s street parking across the street but we didn’t notice it until after we’d parked behind some businesses in a spacious lot on the down hill side of the street. The servers were pleasant and attentive. The food was exceptional! I ordered the chicken fried steak & eggs with hash browns. My wife and I are foodies and can be critical — food doesn’t have to be exotic but a well executed meal does deserve praise. The hash browns were as I like them(crispy on the outside, tender on the inside) the eggs were over easy — whites solid and yoke runny(well done) The Chicken fried steak took the prize! Well seasoned(bravo!) crispy(I think it may have been deep fried) and tender on the inside — BEST Chicken Fried Steak ever! It was a large breakfast — I couldn’t touch the toast. My wife enjoyed her breakfast burrito — again well executed and seasoned — it was huge — she took ½ home. Your average couple could have shared it. The table next to us had pancakes and they were the fluffiest I’d ever seen. I’m already looking forward to having breakfast there on our trip FROM Yosemite next year!

I was surprised at how good this bar/grill turned out to be. Groveland is a small town, and it’s small-town backwoods vibe is clearly apparent here. I absolutely loved the iron door. The burgers were fantastic, everything was cooked perfectly, and the service was great. I loved the atmosphere and the vibe from the whole room. It was very similar to a bar in my hometown, so I felt at home and comfortable. Great good, great service, and the whole town had great people. I can’t wait to make the 4hr+ trip to groveland again, just for these digs.

Stopped here for Breakfast before we headed back home from hiking Yosemite for the weekend. At first we were the only ones in there but the small dining area quickly filled up. We were served by the cutest red headed waitress. She was very sweet and personable. The food did take longer than usual to reach our table… BUT we were not in any hurry and our server was the only one working at the time, so we were fine with the wait.

Although plenty of personnel available, even after 15 mins waiting we were not even asked for drinks. Bad service!

Not that you have a lot of choices in Groveland. …BUt we chose poorly. The wait staff was inexperienced and the food took over an hour to come to the table. Their was not enough help to service a moderate crowd. It seems they are trying to do to much between the saloon, the ice cream parlor, the grill and the coffee house. Same crew for all of this…;((((( recommending the tea house across the street and the groveland hotel instead.

Recommend coming to the Iron Door very cool historical saloon for a drink, with maybe a side of the house made potato chips, where were really good. The rest of the food was just OK.

Arnold the chef is a saint. We stopped on the way back from Yosemite and it was the best decision. Arnold greets us with all smiles and tells us he’s going to make us the best breakfast we’ve ever had. And he did. I have high standards for biscuits and gravy, Arnold’s were the best I can remember having. Breakfast sandwich was delicious and so hearty. Hash browns– yum. My bf’s breakfast burrito was wonderful and Arnold’s homemade salsa was an amazing addition. Hope others can enjoy this gem!

Skip eating here. Bar may be OK, I only looked in to see the dollar bills on the ceiling. Chatty happy waitress, but slow unappetizing food.

I’d come here just for the character but the foods good too. I’m told it’s the oldest saloon in California, I can just imagine the stories. We ordered burgers, and even though the order took a while(due to a mistake) it was a great burger. The onion rings were awesome. You have to try the hard cider. I’d eat here again

Some have said«tourist trap» which it partly is, but without the tourists places like this would dry up and blow away! The beer was cold the food average and tasty, and we were entertained by a feisty Lousiana barmaid who was funny as hell! I doubt we’ll ever be back, but I will defnitely stop in if I ever do! Next review; why we were here in the first place!
