Really solid pizza here. From the city, so I know what good pizza is(well, let’s hope I do by now lol), and this doesn’t disappoint. The only place I go to for pizza wen I’m out on the North Fork on the weekends because the staff is very friendly and the pizza is always tasty. I recommend their spinach and artichoke slice. Delicious!

We are staying in shelter island but wanted to get some Italian in green port. Asked many people, they suggested this place. Excellent choice! Delicious food! Hidden gem! The eggplant parmigiana that I ordered came out hot, crispy and fresh, the salad had a dressing that was sweet and tasty. If you are in town, come here for some great tasting food.

I’ve been eating New York pizza my whole life and this place was good, which was a pleasant surprise this far out east. I had a chicken slice and a plain slice, and both were very good — crust was the perfect combo of doughy and crispy, and not too thick. Sauce was a nice combo of salty and sweet. This place is a bare bones pizza joint and I love that. Staff was super nice — wiped down all the tables for us. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area and want a great slice.

Friends and I were hungry looking for a substantial meal 3 men and 2 ladies. Pasta and pizza was high on the list. We ordered a pie and a few dishes of pasta. I was quite pleasantly surprised at how delicious the pizza was since we love pizzas and are quite picky about such things! Absolutely enjoyed the family style pastas, its large servings so go with a group, its more fun to try other items. You definitely should try the following that stood out: Vodka Penne Pasta Pizza — which ever toppings(We had meats and some veggies) Seafood Spaghetti

My Husband and I are new to the area and after a long day of cleaning and tooling around the new house, had an urge for italian. We originate from Brooklyn so italian is readily available to us but we are always looking for a good place. I have to say, La Capricciosa was AWESOME. The place serves large portions and starts the meal off with fresh baked bread and a really tasty salad big enough to feed three or four people. We ordered: — baked clams which came in a garlicky lemon sauce, perfect for bread dipping. –Baked Ziti– very fresh –Rigatoni Puttanesca — perfectly al dente, just the right amount of olives and anchovy in a rich tomato sauce. The portions were large and we brought leftovers home. The table next to us had a pizza which looked fabulous. We are going to make this our go to place for italian. I highly recommend.

We ate here a couple of times based on positive reviews and were happy we did. The pizza is excellent, even by NY/L.I. standards. Great sauce, sturdy thin crust, and just the right amount of cheese. We went back to sample their wider menu and were happy with each dish. Cavetelli with broccoli rabe, shrimp fra-diavolo, and shrimp parm were all excellent. Prices are fair and service was very good. No atmosphere, but go for the food. Worth a visit.

So we drove to Greenport from our home in the pizza capitol of the world, Brooklyn NY, for a little R&R. We were running a late and decided to use Unilocal to grab a pizza for the room and do the restaurant crawl the next day. We found La Capricciosa, called their number and placed an order for pickup. Then I plugged La C’s street address into Google Navigator and drove into town to pick it up. Google instead directed us to an address on Front Street. No La C there but my girlfriend said she thought she had seen a pizza place a few doors back so she got out of the car while I drove around the block to meet her. Then I got pulled over by the local constabulary. No big deal. Just a headlight out and the cop was pleasant about it. I asked him if there was a pizza joint on that block and he said there was but it sucked and that I should go to La Capricciosa instead, which was on a side street about 500 yards from where Google thought that address was. With that long preamble out of the way, and a recommendation/directions from a uniformed local, on to the food review. We ordered a pie with extra cheese and green pepper. The pizza was surprisingly excellent, and by that I mean we’re Brooklyn folk spoiled by the likes of Lucali, Tontonno, Di Fara and Grimaldi’s. Sure it was a little oily but it held its own with best non-celebrity pizza in Brooklyn. The crust was perfect and the toppings fresh and generous. I mean, it’s pizza. It’s dough, sauce and cheese. How can you get it wrong? But most of the world gets it wrong anyway. La Capricciosa gets it.
