Didn’t get to try the food but had a few cocktails made by Dave. Aside from being an all around very welcoming guy, Dave makes a hell of a drink. I’m sure the other bartenders are great as well, we just happened to be served by Dave. The Tequila Old Fashioned was an amazing and very unique cocktail, I highly suggest it. We hesitated as we’re not huge fans of tequila, but the flavors worked together so well, we hardly knew there was tequila in it.

Went here with my girlfriend on a Saturday night. The restaurant is a small dark room limit mostly by candlelight perfect for any intimate dining experience. There was a 2 hour wait for a table so we decided to sit at the bar(it only took about 10 minutes to get seats). Everything was unbelievable. Watching the bartenders make the drinks is an experience in itself. We tried the North side Collins, the New York sour and two other drinks whose name I can’t remember but everything we tried was awesome. The pizza and burrata appetizers were both excellent and were served relatively quickly after ordering. The bar staff were also very intelligent, friendly and made sure to check in and ask how the drinks and food tasted. We left happy that we sat at the bar and got to get to know the bartenders and watch each individual drink being made for us to enjoy. Will definitely be coming back here next time we’re in the area.

Fantastic! A must for any fan of craft cocktails or speakeasy-type bars, and maybe a must for any visitor to Greenport, period. We had a few drinks, both from the menu and bartender’s choice. Shout out to Dave behind the bar for making everything perfectly. Two standouts: As a bartenders’ choice, I asked for something gingery and got a Moscow Mule, which was initially disappointing because it’s so classic and potentially boring, but then I tasted it. They make it with a twist here. It’s simple, but makes the drink unique. I won’t give away the secret, you’ll have to try it yourself. As my other bartender’s choice, I asked for something with mezcal, and got the Oaxacan Old Fashioned. It was a bit too much for me – maybe I’m not man enough for old fashioneds – but I drank it all and could appreciate it, even if it’s not what I usually go for. Aside from drinks, they also serve food. The menu is small but strong, including curiosities like the option to put mashed potato on a fresh pizza. We had an ice cream sandwich – with house-made gelato and locally made cookies delivered every other day — and it was up there with whatever your standard-bearer for ice cream sandwiches is, be it Jacques Torres or the Meatball Shoppe or the $ 1 train-station machine sandwiches. It came out hard as a cinder block and slowly melted to perfection.

If you go to 1 place in greenport go here. Owner/mixologist Evan is the consummate host. His cocktails are perfection, and his love of the craft is absolutely evident. Combined with the food from 1943(best pizza till brooklyn), this speak easy is a must.

The best, period. Best bartenders, best cocktails, best night spot in Greenport. And I’ve beaten my cheater friend in shuffleboard twice already. Needless to say, I’ll be returning. Three times a charm!

It’s hard to give a place set up like a speakeasy in a small town any less than five stars. Well, if the food wasn’t good then maybe it wouldn’t deserve the five stars, but I have to say the Margarita pizza as well as a white pizza with garlic and meatball really hits the spot(along with a great selection of local brews, such as Barrier, Greenport, and Crooked Ladder). The ambiance starts off the experience by leading you downstairs to the main bar area. Then, the beverage choice staples it as a good choice for a drink(I had the Greenport Brown Ale which added to the dining experience). Finally, the food drives it home with fresh pizza and wonderful ingredients, as a must try location in Greenport. If you like the idea of speakeasies, pizza, and beer then this is the place for you.

To echo my sister-in-law’s review(Michelle D) from two years prior, we had a great experience tonight. Evan and Dave were great mixologists to three very well done drinks. Welcoming… cordial…insert similar adjective here, they know how to welcome a patron in and invite them to partake in the myriad of fresh offerings that summarizes Brix &Rye. I’ve had my fair share of Sazeracs and the one Dave mixed was one of the best I’ve had. As far as the scene, it was a great mix of age groups, lacking pretension that may find its way into other craft cocktail establishments. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

Dave was our bartender. Not only is he a GREAT bartender, his personality is one that matches the bar’s prohibition feel. A bartender of all bartenders, one might say! His effort to make a customers drink perfect never deviated no matter how busy it got. I am absolutely coming back EVERY time I visit Greenport

What a great bar, came here from a reccomendation from a friend– so glad we did. Feels like this bar should be in nyc! 2 levels of the bar, first level shuffleboard what a great game to have in the bar. We had great time playing. The bottom level is the bar, bartender is friendly and makes great brandy milks, so yummy! Taste like an adult milkshake. They also have great hot toddys. Can’t wait to come back next time we come to Greenport!

Cool ambiance, EXCELLENT bartenders. Drinks were pricey, but they were delicious. The entrance is street level, but you go downstairs to the lower level that is dark, mysterious and very ‘speak easy’ like. The menu for food looked great, but we ate before hand. The bartenders were really nice, super sufficient(these cocktails are not easy to make!) and had great customer service. Will go back.

Amazing find in Greenport! Newly minted hubby and I came here after checking in for our mini-moon for the weekend. Cocktails and pizza, can it go wrong? Apparently it can’t. Cuz shizzle was amazing! We shared two pies, one being a white pie which I usually don’t enjoy but we ordered in case hubb might(we didn’t; so cheers for having the same tastes!), [white pie fans, order away!] but the other being an amazing red pie with fresh mozzarella and cherry peppers with arugula and spicy fennel sausages. YUM. And the cocktails, amazing! I lamented to A, I wish this was a local spot ! And they have shuffleboard! Fun! Love love love and must try in Greenport!

Brix & Rye is on the top of my list for Greenport. Hidden away off the end of Main street in a seemly non-descript store front there is a nice intimate speak easy vibe. When you get in and head downstairs there is a dimly lit cozy bar. It’s a very small location with a small amount of tables. Evan the bartender/owner is EXTREMELY knowledgeable on all things cocktail. You can order cocktails off the rotating menu or talk to Evan and let him know what you’re feeling like. I have never been disappointed. Second part is the pizza from Pizza 1943 upstairs. You order downstairs and they bring it down for you. My personal favorite is the white pie, with arugula, prosicutto, and a fried egg on it. Seriously do it. The Sazerac is my go to cocktail. If you skip BAR when you are in town you are seriously missing out.

Excellent restaurant hidden away in Greenport. I love the speakeasy feel to it and the drink menu lives up to the theme perfectly. The pizza here is excellent and the portion size is perfect. It took a long time to get a seat and I wish that they had a second shuffleboard to play on but it turned out to be worth it in the end as the vibe, food, and drinks here were awesome.

The Northside Collins and New Haven Pizza were delicious. I would give 5 stars, but we waited an hour and a half to be seated and had been told we’d have a half hour wait. I had to knock a star off because it was kind of ridiculous. The shuffle board table helped pass the time. I would love to come back on another visit.

This hidden gem is not easy to find. A bit of a speak easy kind of place. You might hear about it from a local or see the amazing reviews on Unilocal.Once you get past the empty store front you will be delightfully surprised by the comfortable ambience. The New Haven pizza is to die for! The wait staff is more than friendly. And don’t forget about the mixed drinks.

This is my new favorite spot in Greenport! My husband and I have been dying to try Brix and Rye ever since we moved to the North Fork, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The atmosphere is very speak easy, and although the bar is dimly lit by candlelight, it adds so much to your surroundings. The walls are littered with interesting conversation pieces, and the bartenders donned very Hunter S. Thompson-esque Hawaiian shirts. Some live music was on the menu for the Thursday night I visited, and they played some Wallflowers, Bruce Springsteen, and other mellow tunes. Their expertly crafted pizza was to die for, and adding fresh clams to it was something I never would have tried had it not been for their menu suggestions. It was amazing. We also tried the house marinated olives, and they were very tasty. But the real star of the show are their cocktails. The bartender is clearly very experienced, and it shows. I tried the strawberry margarita and the Trader Vic’s Mai Tai, and my husband had the The Northside Collins, Backsliding Presbyterian, Grassroots. They were all INCREDIBLE. Seriously, the best drinks I’ve ever had. I’ll be thinking of them well into the summer, that’s for sure. Not only were the food, drinks, atmosphere, staff, and entertainment amazing, but the prices were actually much more reasonable than I imagined! We spent under $ 100 on six drinks, one pizza with two half toppings, and olives. It was a nice surprise. I can’t wait to go back and run through their list of cocktails! If I could have had more than three, I certainly would have. Don’t miss this place if you’re ever in the area!
