Very hamptoni environment. The outside bar is cute. The outside seating area is beautiful and the food is amazing. Reasonable prices and great service. We asked for hot sauce with our burger. They brought their own house made hot sauce. Amazing! The lobster roll was great. If you want to get a hamptoni feeling in Greenport, visit this place.

Food average to below average. Service non-existent, indifferent, and just nasty. Why do they call them help? So many better choices in this town. It is named American Beech based on a tree surrounded by a bar. Who cares? I had the bass and my wife had the shrimp curry. Dog food We waited 40 minutes for the order to come and the waiter threw the meals down and left. Perhaps it was his bad time of the month. My advice, get yourself a frozen TV dinner heat it up on your car engine and it will taste 100 times better than the slop that they offer. Overpriced, unfriendly, weird, pretentious are a few adjectives that come to mind. We left hungry and feeling ripped off and went for pizza next door which was outstanding and reasonably priced. American Beech is a nice tree but a culinary disaster.

5 stars, –1 star because of the bartender. I came to Greenport for Memorial Day Weekend for the 3rd year in a row and this was my first time seeing this place. I fell inlove with it every time we walked past it. Came in for dinner it was good. Scallops were really good, I liked my steak, but my boyfriend who loves steak said it was bad– but he loved the place as well. We also hung out at the bar for drinks until bar close but the short hair bartender in the inside back bar was a REALBEECH, she was such a moodkiller. All customers were really nice to her and she was so mean, she even closed and cleaned up her bar early so that she didnt have to serve people anymore. she was actually the entertainment for my boyfriend and I just how rude she was to everyone when people were so polite to her– people come in to depend on you for a good time if you’re going to get pissed off that people are making you prepare drinks for them why become a bar tender?

We just finished dinner here for date night and the food was excellent. I read some of the other reviews before choosing to go here tonight and they were spot on. The restaurant is in a square off Main Street and looks absolutely beautiful at night. There are nice yellow lights strung up all along the outside. We sat to have a glass of wine before dinner by the outdoor fireplace until our table was ready and then sat at a cozy two-person table in the back. So far, the things we tried that we loved were the watermelon salad and the squash for appetizers, and Milanese and the sea Bass. Portions were good and we were both full off one app and one entrée each. Would highly recommend!!!

The best meal I’ve had in greenport. Ive stayed here for 3 nights and was consistently disappointed with the other restaurants in the area, until I ate at American Beech. We started the meal with the kale & beets salad along with the melon salad, both of which were refreshing and excellent. I had the Sea Bass for my main and it was phenomenal — it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a perfect compliment to the fish. But the true crescendo were the desserts — we had the bread pudding & chocolate mocha cake and they were both very good. Staff was friendly and attentive as well.

Came with a small group for dinner on a Saturday night. Great ambiance and atmosphere in the restaurant. Started off with some cocktails, the dirty martinis were made well, great balance of vodka and olive. The watermelon cocktail was light and refreshing. For appetizers we started out with the Orecchiette, Spaghetti Squash Latkes and Frito Misto. All three were phenomenal with the orecchiette being the stand-out of the three. Entrees featured tuna, bass and fried chicken. The tuna was cooked perfectly however it was under seasoned, the bass and chicken were both very flavorful and cooked well. The big miss was with our second round of cocktails. Two of us ordered the margarita and it was nothing more than pineapple juice and tequila. It was quite undrinkable and we sent it back. They did not charge us for those drinks, which was great. Overall, a very enjoyable meal with good food, would certainly come back.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan… I wanted to be able to write something else, but I have to be honest, I did NOT love American Beech. Last minute dinner choice, we were able to get a table for two right away. ONLY… the table had one chair, and they looked flabbergasted when I asked for another one. Service started out great, then whittled through out the meal. Our server probably checked on us once. However, I asked for a good Rose recommendation and she was RIGHT on point. My wine was awesome. Food… it JUST wasn’t great. BAD? No, I wouldn’t say BAD. I would say EH. Best thing was our Squash Latke starters, which were good but had an herb in there that didn’t belong. Burger was kind of dry and flavorless, Lobster roll… again, just not good. Truffle fries could of been a hit, but are literally SWIMMING in garlic and oil. I will say this. Here is their saving grace. American Beech is BEAUTIFUL. The outside bar gives the Hampton’s a run for its money. I would HIGHLY recommend coming here for pre-dinner or night time drinks. And what else… As the check arrived I held my breath, but was very pleasantly surprised at the total. Did i choose the wrong meal??? Maybe Will I try this place again??? Yes, I definitely will if they change the menu up a bit.

i cant say how the food was, but it was a weird experience. You definetly need a reservation. We stopped by earlier in the day to eat — maybe around 5pm, there were mostly open tables, they said they were fully booked for the eveniing, however there were so many open tables it was bizarre. We ended up eating nearby but walked past American Beech since it was near our hotel, and it seemed half full the entire evening. They made me feel like the smelly kid!

Lets hit the Beech! We’re getting together with old friends for brunch. They’re rattling off things like, wine tasting, buying farm stand vegetables and shopping. Oh yeah, and make the weather nice on Sunday so we can walk around Greenport. Yes dear. I had American Beech bookmarked after a nice Unilocal ROTD. I went online and researched the restaurant, the décor looked really fun and the menu looked contemporary. Pulling up to the restaurant, it’s located in a cul-de-sac of some great looking dining establishments. Everyone always associates Greenport with the restaurant on the water. Me? I’d like to have an upscale meal with the water a block away thankyouverymuch. Walking towards the main entrance, there is an outdoor bar that looks very fun. Too bad it wasn’t functional this Sunday morning. Walking inside feels like you’ve stepped into restaurant designed Ralph Lauren. The décor is stunning with light woods and nautical theme throughout. We’re seated at a four top, the ladies are sitting on a comfy bench. We look at the $ 15 cocktail menu and the drinks are placed. I started with a watermelon cocktail called the Garden Party Cocktail. Made with fresh cut watermelon, it was very refreshing. For starters, we ordered for the table a plate of spaghetti squash latkes and a order of shrimp toast. The latkes starter with sour cream was yummy. The shrimp toast? It’s everything you remember ordering as a kid in a Chinese food restaurant. A very fun dish. The menu choices looks really brunchy. I don’t remember seeing Eggs Benedict which is a Hampton brunch staple but I keep telling myself we’re on the north fork. There is corned beef hash dish on the menu but I’m going to pass this time and order the Shrimp & Grits. Holy moley! The portion wasn’t large but in fact the right amount. The shrimp tasted so fresh, I had to check and make sure I wasn’t eating lobster. Combined with the buttery grits and bacon crumble, it was a very enjoyable meal. American Beech, very impressed with both the food and restaurant itself. I highly recommend America Beech, great food in a casual atmosphere.

The atmosphere of this place is fantastic. At the end of an alcove next to 1943’s pizza, you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful tree that American Beech built their bar around. Gleaming white, with a beachy feel, enjoy an amazing dinner with a «wow» after each bite! Lots of watermelon packed into my cocktail and really, those latkes. Amazing. Also had the fried chicken, Burrata and mocha cake!

This is a great little spot, we went last night with a large party. Great ambience and great service. We arrived around 6pm and there were roughly 14 of us. We started with appetizers like the salads, chips, brussel sprouts and a pasta dish. Let me just say all of these were very good. We all tasted a bit of everything. Nothing was a game changer but all were very good. I ordered the burger with mushrooms, onion on a pretzel bun. Wow! This was a great burger, cooked to perfection. I also loved the pretzel bun, it gave a chewiness that I loved. The downfall would be no fries, who doesn’t have fries with a burger? The house made chips were okay. As I said with a large party the service was very good. All in all we were happy with this place. It was priced fairly as well. Roughly came to $ 1400.00 including tip and drinks. If we’re back in the area we would stop back in. Solid 4 stars

What a gem! Greenport is one of the towns that has captured my heart 2 years ago, and ever since I have been frequenting it more and more. Better than Sag Harbor or any other town. AMerican Beech only opened in 2015, so it’s a newer restaurant on the block. It is a needed addition. It is located on Main St. and nestled in the back, off it. They have kind of a similar restaurant, that is hip and cool, on Front St. called The Frisky Oyster. The American Beech is more relaxed, very laid back. With its nautical décor, outside fireplace, and candlelit dining area, it feels like a spa. However, it provides you with some amazing food to nourish your stomach, besides your other senses. Our first time here, we had: — Duck Bastilla: it was one big epanada look a like. But with a kick of amazing flavor and sauce. — Roasted Mussels: the best mussels I’ve had in a long time. Flavor was so subtle, and creamy, buttery but not heavy at all. — Shrimp Curry Bowl: it is indeed to die for. Such aroma and flavor. I loved the sweetness of the dish, and the addition of ridiculous subtle spice from a side sauce. — Black Bass: WOW! Fish was seared on skin side to perfection and amazing crispiness. It was cooked perfectly! It is now m favorite fish to eat besides red snapper. All in all, their sauces are amazing and give each dish another flavor, while keeping the balance. The menu, while looks small, is very balanced and perfect! I cannot wait to try the rest of it. The food is perfectly presented and cooked. The bartender is just so cool… his name is Colin. Great summer spot! Sassy Natty ~ tells it like it is :)

Great space; airy, light décor. Cocktails fireside on a cold winter night in Greenport was the perfect warm up. Enjoyed small tastings during the summer/fall festivals and can’t wait to come back and hang at the outdoor bar when the weather warms up again.

Came here last second on a nice sunny day. Had to wait till they open and Collin served me at the bar. He was very helpful with me picking my cocktail. The appetizers we had were point one the duck and the muscles. The main course the blacken bass was perfect. This place is a must check out.

Not great… First impression walking up we really dug the vibe, we sat down on a nice summer day, looked at the menu and ordered at the bar. I got the mule and it came to me literally half full, Maybe less. The watermelon something was full and refreshing. We moved on to a few small plates and not a single one blew us away… Though they did make me want to walk away a little bit. The pork belly was awful and only once have I had worse. If a place doesn’t know how to treat and serve pork belly there is no place for it on their menu. The truffle-parm fingerlings were good but there was really nothing to them, slightly less flavor than you’d get anywhere else but decent just the same. The best of the three apps we had was the orchiette which isn’t saying much. It was a clear and tasty winner but I can cook as good, if not better at home so we weren’t too impressed by any of it. Honestly for the quality of what we got, we shouldn’t have paid for half our entire order. I get the hype though, it’s a trendy spot they call the square with pompous old men and middle aged hipsters serving a good idea but no substance and horrible execution. Sorry, I’m not part of the flock.

First visit. Had 2 orders of Bronzino, one bolognese and one wienersnitzel. Mussels and brussel sprouts to start. All were excellent. Our waiter, as well as bussers, were all very attentive. It was a very nice experience and we’ll be sure to return.

We visited American Beech for dinner when staying in the Greenport area for Easter weekend. It’s got a beautiful décor and gives you a Hamptons-ish feel(is that a thing?! Not sure…). Really beautiful interior, as well as a busy bar area and a welcoming patio with outside bar-courtyard-fire pit. Service was prompt and attentive throughout and the food was amazing. We opted for the chowder, orecchiette, shrimp curry, and weinerschnitzel. There were clean plates all around and zero complaints to be heard. A bit on the pricier side but not out of the ordinary for this area. Definitely make a reservation on opentable!

A nice meal ruined by the manager, Dennis. Oysters, gazpacho, shrimp curry and orichette. Lovely setting, good waitress. At the end of our meal we asked for a check and a cab. Thought we would check out Main Street while waiting for the cab, and asked how long the cab would take to arrive. Our waitress told us her manager called the cab. He was too busy selecting a Netflix movie at the bar to answer a simple question — the expected ETA of the cab. After the bartender finally got his attention, Dennis stormed out the side entrance, yelling«it’s on it’s way». Totally unprofessional. We watched him drive off. Our waitress saw the whole thing and came out to apologize. Dennis, you ruined our evening with your insulting and demeaning behavior and abject customer service. Never returning and suggest skipping this place if you’d like to get home at the end of the evening. After waiting outside for over twenty minutes, another staff came out to ask if a cab had come yet. No one could confirm if one had even been called, but the staff manager offered us a ride. Very nice of her. Apparently Dennis was having a bad night, as lots of things had gone wrong. Dennis — it doesn’t matter how many things go wrong. When you are rude to a fault and anger your customers, you deserve to fail.

Small menus done right. I read some comments about staffing problems. We thought our sever was on point. But they are a new restaurant and I hope they work out the kinks others mentioned because the FOODWASAMAZING. To start off make sure you get the Kale and Quinoa salad it makes eating heathy taste O-so-good. The Pomme Chips with Herb Crème Fraiche so simple and good. For an entrée I had the Orecchiette with Wild Mushrooms, Spinach, Roasted Garlic Mascarpone and Toasted Crumbs DELICIOUS! You need to order this 5 star dish. My husband had the tuna steak which he loved but once he had a taste of my Orecchiette he was hooked on my dish. The lady next to us was raving about her Black Bass entrée. Guess we’ll try that next time. The Key Lime Pie is homemade. Better then most places in the Keys. My husband loved the homemade brownie with chocolate moose. We are look forward to making the trip out to Greenport to dine here again I’m actually craving the Kale salad now
