Tom Thumb Food & Pharmacy

I love Tom Thumb stores and recently found the Ibotta app where I get rebates on items bought here along with a lot of other stores. I also recently paid $ 1.12 for gas! Friendly and helpful staff and an array of groceries!

Clean store, nice location. I was surprised to see it’s actually a Safeway, at least that’s what they are in Arizona. Good prices, and very nice staff. Nice vegetable and meat selection… will shop again soon!

Convenient, fresh and has reasonable price. Love their fruit.

Pretty good store, definitely one of my favorite grocery store. Love all of the baked goodies (specially the cheesecake). Always clean and organized. I’ve never had a problem there. The only complaint I have is, there is one cashier that comes off as very racist (I have somewhat of an ethnic last name and she refuses to say it or looks at me weird). She acts like she is superior and I absolutely HATE the fact that she throws the groceries around as she scans them. I am paying for them, I wish she would show more respect and stop slamming my groceries around. I avoid her lane as much as possible. Other than that I really like this place.

Since my original review a year and a half ago, this Tom Thumb has undergone a serious decline in customer service. As someone who frequents this store at least once a week, I should know. Depending on who your cashier is, you will probably get rushed through the line and discounted items will not be scanned and coupons will not be tripled or doubled, depending on the amount. Then you will have to go to customer service to have your discount refunded.
My most horrific experience was at the pharmacy with Meoshia. I had flu-​like symptoms and had been exposed to anywhere from 10 – 15 people with the flu, so I was prescribed Tamiflu. When I went to drop off my prescription, I had a question about another medication I take so I asked. Instead of listening to what I was saying Meoshia just talked over me and tried to tell me about a medication I’ve been taking for years. Rude. Since I’m not frequently at the pharmacy, I forgot to update my new insurance information. Instead of asking politely if my insurance information had changed, Meoshia asked quite abruptly. Then when I drove up to the window to pay, she took over the transaction from the pharmacy tech and inquired how I planned on paying for my medication. She basically said she hoped that I had a flex card. Excuse me? I don’t understand why my method of payment for my prescriptions is any business of the pharmacy manager on duty unless she was offering to pay for it herself. That was totally out of line for her to see my insurance information and my occupation and make assumptions, not to mention completely unprofessional.
I reported Meoshia’s behavior to the manager on duty and he took my number down. I never received a phone call to follow up. You can certainly tell that this store is suffering with the impending takeover by Albertson’s because the decline in the quality of customer service is abysmal.

Love me some Tom Thumb. They still double and triple coupons. $ 5 Friday deals always have something wonderful on sale. To me the meat is the best you can get grocery store wise. Maybe a little expensive, but well worth it. And who can forget being a rewards member, and how that can translate to saving $$ on gas.
Every store I have been in is always kept nice and clean. And even though there lunch soup’s can get redundant with the flavors, it’s always a nice little cheap lunch.

Great location to be shopping for food on the go just a little pricey but great :) very clean and well maintained no problem :) employees are friendly and helpful plus they’ll be ready to help you with anything :)

OMG they have automatic electronic coupons! I don’t even need to clip coupons, they automatically put it on there for you! My last trip there saved me $ 3! And I love that all their meats and vegetables are always so fresh!
I would’ve given them 5 stars but I buy organic lunch box milk for my son, and they see always expired for months then I have to get a rain check!

The best place to shop for groceries in Grand Prairie now. Sadly, Kroger and Albertson’s have become so shabby and poorly kept that I have no desire to purchase my food items from them.
This Tom Thumb is always well stocked, every employee I have interacted with there have been friendly and helpful, the store is clean and easy to travel.
Yes, prices are a bit higher but they do have good sales and honestly, I don’t mind paying a little more for good service and a clean place to shop.

Good selection with plentiful deals for great savings; excellent pharmacy staff that help out no matter what. Friendly cashier and baggage staff makes for a more enjoyable shopping experience.

The store was clean, and we didn’t find any expired items like we have recently at other grocery stores. The prices were higher compared to other places we have shopped. I guess there isn’t any store that has great service AND great prices?

Your typical Tom Thumb in Grand Prairie. It is not as big as some other locations, but usually I can find what I’m looking for. They are undergoing some renovations right now and it will be interesting to see how the store looks once those are completed.
