Won’t be back. Certainly not for the buffet. Not a typical self serve buffet, and had to wait for most everything to be cooked, EACHTRIP.

I have really enjoyed everything I have ordered here. I’ve always had good service and I love that they put out cookie samples! Yum! My favorite thing so far is the chicken salad sandwich.

I was disappointed. You should first know that it is counter service. Pick up a menu at the front register, make a decision, wait for someone to appear at the register, order, pay(tip as well if paying with credit card), get your number. When they call your number, you go pick it up from a window. Get your own soda and coffee. Refill your own drinks… or just coffee. Sodas are in cans; so, I am unsure if you can get free refills on soda. I doubt it. Condiments are by the pick up window. The eggs were runny, the blueberry pancakes were bitter/sour, the French toast lacked in flavor. The«fresh fruit» was a watermelon wedge. It was not very welcoming. No smiling faces. The saving grace was the cute location on The Square. If we return to Granbury, we will not come back to this restaurant.

I avoid this place as much as possible. It used to be the only place to get a breakfast or lunch meal on the square, so I have been here many times. I’ve NEVER had a good experience. The wait is long, and the workers are ALWAYSRUDE. Honestly the thing I want most out of a restaurant is the emotional effect of good customer service. After taking care of everyone constantly, I just want to be taken care of for a few minutes. If that’s what you’re looking for, don’t waste your time here.

Great little hole in the wall restaurant and bakery. Food is tasty and the staff are a joy to meet. If you live in Granbury or are just visiting you’ll miss a great place to eat or snack on delicious home made Ice Cream if you don’t make it a point to stop here. Plenty of free parking in the back.

I love it for its historic charm… but man, it could be sooooo much more! It’s just ‘ok’ to me. Not bad, certainly not great. I’ve eaten a few meals here, never ever impressed, but we do occasionally stop in for an ice cream treat. Food = ehh. I make better at home, but it’s convenient. Ambiance = such an AMAZING space people, utilize it!

I was in town shopping around the square and I was trying out all of the places to eat and this was the first one. It has a very country feel to it. You go up to the register and order, you then go sit at a table and when your food is ready they will call out your number and your food will be up in the pass. I ordered the Jessee James, and I knew that the food was all mixed together, but it was kind of mushy, the egg whites weren’t all the way cooked, and I HATE that! The food was on top of flour tortillas, which they could have put the tortillas to the side, because I had to scrape the food off of them just to put the food in them and that made for a soggy tortilla. I did however enjoy their bacon, it was nice and thick, and was cooked perfectly.

My husband and I spent the weekend in Granbury and stopped for breakfast on our way out of town. We did the one trip buffet which was a great idea. They didn’t have eggs yet, but the Katy behind the line offered to bring us some when the came out. We enjoyed everything until who I assume to be the manager or owner walked outside and looked at the sign then yelled across the restaurant for the girl to come out there so she could show her how to fix what she messed up. It wasn’t what she said, but how rude and demeaning to the girl in the way she spoke to her. We saw her continuing on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. While the food was great, I would never go back because I don’t want to give my money to an owner/manager that is that rude to her employees especially in front of the store to embarrass them. I hope that the girl knows she was wonderful at her job and made our breakfast great, it was her boss that ruined it.

Good food at amazing prices! Our first time in and won’t be our last, we will be there tomorrow morning again. They had an amazing special 2eggs served your way, 2 biscuits or thick toast, hash browns, sausage or bacon and a side of gravy. All that for a couple cents over $ 4. We both had that special and it was good! I’m sorry before I realized that I hadn’t taken a pic of our food we had started chowing down. But did get a couple pix of the inside. ******Cookies***** they have mouth watering cookies! You better believe we didn’t leave out of there with out some. They are jumbo and delicious!

Have grown up in this area but had never eaten here until today. Went in at lunch and only 3 people there. I should have gotten the hint– but I figured its a weekday. I ordered the special meatloaf with buttered squash, roll and mashed potatoes. I sat down with a number and waited for it to be called. My meal came in about 15 minutes and Staff was friendly. The meatloaf(warmish) was bland, burnt a bit on bottom and had been baked with sliced onion and tomatoes on top. The squash was boiling hot but so salty I couldn’t eat it. The mashed potatoes were very good and obviously fresh, also could have been warmer. A little styrofoam cup of cream gravy(not homemade tasting) came with this meal. I can say that the homemade yeast roll was very good. Like grandmother used to make. Very nice people but will try something else next time.

Great place to grab a sandwich, burger, and salad. They make homemade pies and the staff is excellent and very friendly. This place reminds me why I love visiting small town eateries.

We had our choices of several places to eat close to the courthouse square and seems like we picked the wrong one. There was a special sign on the sidewalk advertising meat loaf so we opted to go to this location. You have to order at the counter and your food is brought to your table. We ordered the meat loaf with potatoes and squash and the chicken fried steak with potatoes and squash. The meat loaf was not a a slice of meat loaf at all, but rather pieces of meat scattered over the plate and the taste was not that great so about 2/3’s was left on the plate. The potatoes and squash appeared to have been cooked for quite some time and apparently were just sitting and waiting for the next customer. The chicken fried steak was covered with white gravy. The meat appeared to be a hamburger patty with a coating on top. The bottom had only grease running around the plate. I also had the squash and potatoes which apparently was standard for whatever plate you ordered. There was a roll that was yeasty. I would not eat hear again and cannot recommend the place. The inside, while attempting to be folksy, did little for me in the way an a dining room. I could not locate the rest room, so I ask an employee where the rest room was. There was NONE, I was directed to go to the public restroom located several yards in behind the restaurant. Even at truck stops I never recall being directed to a public rest room instead of the restaurant having its own. Then there was the air conditioning. I am sure it was on and this is an old building that perhaps was hard to cool. While the temperature was around 88 degrees I would certainly hesitate to dine here if the temperature was any higher. I left with my shirt wringing wet. Bottom line – you-can’t say I did not have an unusual dining event in Granbury, because we certainly did.

We had lunch here and it was pretty solid food and exactly what we were looking for as touristy visitors. We ordered the pimento grilled sandwich and fruit and then my fiancé got pulled pork sandwich with chips! He absolutely loved his, but given the warm day he mentioned that he wished he had opted for the fruit like me! I love pimento and we walked the ENTIRE square checking menus looking for a pimento sandwich, it was just what I wanted although grilled was definitely new. The fruit was beautiful and so perfect for a mid May lunch! The iced tea was good and their desserts really seem to attract people although we were too full to get any. I recommend this place for sure.

Frito Pie, anyone? Good food, adequate service, and 50 percent off baked goods during«Happy Hour» before closing. This spot along Granbury’s historic plaza is run by several old ladies who make food and don’t want none of yer backtalk, youngin. It was not an overwhelmingly positive experience… but I didn’t have a bad time either. I wouldn’t say that I’d return though, given all of the other dining options within walking distance. Maybe turn on the charm a bit, eh, ladies?

The Nutshell Eatery & Bakery is a nice place to eat on the old town square of Granbury, Texas. Located on the Southeast Corner of the square the Nutshell has done a great job using an old building to create a restaurant. There was a large selection of items on the menu and on the special list for the day. We enjoy visiting places where you can get both lunch and dinner fair at the same time. I am partial to breakfast foods and will often order them at any time of the day. The ladies in my life would much prefer to get on with lunch. I ordered the Jesse James Special which was a combination of hash-browns, sausage, eggs, and cilantro served with flour tortillas and a side of jalapenos. The portion size was generous and the food was tasty. The rest of the family ordered burgers. They got the Mini Hindenburger and the Bacon Cheese Burger. Everyone was pleased with their burger and thought that the meet was delicious. The burgers are served on a homemade hamburger bun that is larger than the hamburger patty, but the bread is delicious so you really do not mind the extra bread. We polished off the meal with a chocolate chip cookie, which was probably the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly baked and just melted in your mouth. The service was very helpful, yet unique. You order at the counter and get a number. Your food is brought to the table for you and I have to say that they young lady running the food and taking care of the front of the house was very good. She was friendly and very helpful. It was amazing to see how efficiently she worked and how she anticipated your needs. All in all this was a positive experience.

Still a solid 4 stars and I certainly am a fan. Took mom down to Granbury for the day, and of all the places to eat(see list) we decided on a Hindenburger at the Nutshell. I like this burger for several reasons: a) It comes in a mini size(6 vs. 10 oz), so you don’t feel stuffed(but it’s no slider), b) it’s on a very good baked-right-there bun, c) Blue cheese, and c) it can be accompanied by a free beer(Bud or Bud Light). The Nutshell also positions you perfectly for some wandering on the square!
