After 30 minutes of waiting, I checked on the status of my order. After 40, someone came out to ask me what I had ordered. After an hour, they brought my order out and gave me a full refund. It was a nice gesture, but 4 hand rolls aren’t worth an hour of my time.

Horrible service. Doesn’t anyone teach these employees ever to say I’m sorry? They lost our ticket and we had to bring it up to them twice! When the cashier told the cooks, they just threw their hands in the air like it’s such an inconvenience to fill an order. We asked to speak to the manager, no surprise, there wasn’t a manager there. Their order system has you pay your tip when you order. Wow, wish I could take that back! Never an apology. Is this the same SUSHIAI, INC. entity #C2397431 that the California Department of Corporations says is suspended by both the Secretary of State and the Franchise Tax Board? Wow.

So I was sitting here having lunch with my beau and some girls walked by and was like, «yeah we ate here before, wasn’t very good…» I’ve eaten here many times and every time has been pretty darn good. Maybe cuz I order the same thing every time, my fave salmon sashimi salad with seaweed for extra $ 3. Comes with rice. My love usually orders different things. This time he had some kind of bento box: beef teriyaki was bland but the spicy tuna roll was yummy and tempuras were amazing! They were soooo good. Attitude has gotten better here. Previously, there were a lot of subpar girls working the front.

This time I got the New Taxas Roll(it’s a typo should be New Texas). If you love spicy, this is the roll for you! It was delicious and I can’t wait to come back!

Sushi is great, staff couldn’t get better :)! Everyone is so nice and they do there best for you to have a positive and wonderful experience here. I think the sushi is the best for the area, but not as great as anything you can get in LA or SF. Crunch roll is to DIE for :)

Took the fam out to Camino Real for a little Sushi at the ‘Ai. I had a special for $ 10.95 that included a chicken teriyaki bowl, California roll and drink, which is a good deal. The chicken bowl was good, though I’d have preferred it to be mixed together(though I’m not one to nitpick, as you know if you read my reviews). The restaurant business is hard enough without customers getting hung up on silly things, and I’m glad I’m not in that industry. The California roll was pretty small and had a sweet taste to it that was good, but a bit disconcerting. The kids meals are cheap and my girl never spits it out so its probably ok. One thing I’m not a fan of is the order at the counter model and then get solicited by the computer for a tip without any idea how good the service will be. It’s not cool. What was cool, and goes unnoticed by me at most spots, was the music. Zeppelin, Sublime, and other old school riffs had me vibing the atmosphere, despite the dirty floor. Tough ranking here and I’m not looking to short anyone, but need more for 4 stars.

Cant beat the amount of food you get for the specials with the bowl and california rolls. I did the teriyaki bowl and it was good! It wasnt AMAZING but you cant expect much from a small place like that. The california rolls though were good. The Bulguki will burn your taste buds off so beware! If you’re craving a big teriyaki bowl it’s a great choice! Enough food to fill you up and fast service!

Sushi is pretty average here. It’s not authentic either but if you’re craving some sushi it can get the job done. Service was kind of slow when I went here for lunch. Workers were neither friendly nor rude. If it’s a Monday, I’d definitely come here! $ 2 hand rolls and they’re a good size. 3 of them filled me up, and they were pretty good. Worth $ 2 a piece :)

Do yourself a favor and pass on their soups. I tried the ramen today. If I wanted Top Ramen I would have boiled it at home for $ 5.00 cheaper.

Ok I’m redoing my review simply because they’re not honoring their Unilocal coupon. Why is it on here if it’s not even valid. I’ve been coming here for a while and when I saw the coupon on Unilocal; like everyone else I wantes to take advantage of it. Get there to find out they won’t honor it. Not cool

I stop in to sushi ai often because its QUIcK, EASY and CONVENIENT when i shop in this area«market plc» its well done Generic Japanese… rolls are always consistently good with one exception the scallops roll-very fishy &over cooked. Over all Good, with fair pricing, and staff is professional.

Love their salmon sashimi salad! It comes with 12 huge pieces of salmon, salad, and rice, which is pretty worth the price for $ 10.95! Their bulgogi bowl, however, was not as impressive. Although it comes in a huge portion size, the sauce they use to marinate the meat tastes different from the one used in authentic KBBQ meat. Overall it is OK, if you’re craving korean bulgogi, but don’t expect too much from it.

Came here for the $ 1.99 hand rolls on Monday. Ordered the spicy yellowtail, spicy scallop, spicy salmon, and white tempura rolls. Only got 3 of the 4 rolls we asked for. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they just didn’t hear my soft voice. You go up to order, get a number sign, then they come hand it to you at your table. The service was OK. There weren’t smiles but they weren’t overtly rude. Only the mishap with the order was a con for me. The rolls were pretty good. I believe they left out either the spicy salmon or spicy scallop, I couldn’t tell. I enjoyed the tempura roll the best with the teriyaki sauce and the yellowtail second best. It was good enough and cheap enough for us to go for seconds of the tempura roll for each of us and another spicy yellowtail. Because it’s so cheap and its decent enough sushi, I would come back(probably only on Mondays) We’re thinking of starting a Monday tradition since its not so far from IV

.This place never disappoints. The service is always friendly and prompt and the food delicious. The bulgogi beef is one of my favorites, sweet and spicy. The Hot Night roll is also great

These guys put the«artificial» in AI!(get it?) Anyhoo … this is basic the most generic«Japanese» food available in the area. It is to Japanese food, what Panda Express is to Chinese … a slew of comforting names, huge portions, and bland flavors that will cater to anyone craving a taste of Japanese food, but with little authenticity. However, I have to give them at least three stars because the food was solid and not too expensive. The food was out extremely quickly and my dad and I both enjoyed the chicken teriyaki platter(with salad, soup, and rice) for ~$ 9 and a sushi platter that didn’t skimp on the portions. Again, if you go to UCSB, and want Japanese food, it’s either this place or that other pseudo spot in IV.

Not sure why the ratings are so low. I am vegetarian. I like the food. I normally order vegetable tempura roll, vegetable tempura, veggies rolls etc. The staff is good too. Never found them sloppy. I have been visiting them since June 2014.

Can I put half a star? Their 2 star rating is very accurate. For one, the customer service is awful. They’re not friendly, they don’t smile. I got udon noodles, they were soggy and didn’t taste like anything. The soup just tasted like soy sauce; all it had in the noodles were noodles. No green onions or pepper or anything. I also got the dragon roll, I scraped all the scallops off because they were soggy and so was the sushi itself. There was no texture. I would not recommend.

Two Words: Sushi Ai-Yi-Yi Why did I come here? Well, a better question: Why is this place still here? First of all, they have terrible«service.» Second of all, the fish is warm. Yeaaaaaaaaah. Warning sign. Sirens. Sloppy sushi, sloppy service. Save yourself from food poisoning by NOT going here. They should change their name to Sushi F.
