Fantastic staff, friendly and accommodating. Cesar salad with homemade dressing was great and the St. Louis ribs special was fantastic. Also had stuff clams for an appetizer: excellent. The ambience & décor is great; from the outside doesn’t look like much, but when you come in Wow! Nice job Katrina! See you soon!

My husband and I went out to grab a bite with a friend. We are not familiar with the area and checked out 4 places before we settled on Katrina’s. It was very clean and the staff was friendly, polite and attentive. However, the food took a while to come out and was disappointing at best when it did come. The roll on my sandwich was grilled and I had clearly stated that I have a lactose allergy so butter is not something I can have. My husband had to settle on a second choice since what he wanted from the limited choices wasn’t actually available. Then it came out undercooked and ended up removed from the bill since they were not able to make it correctly. The waitress started out well but finished off a mediocre meal but taking my friends plate while she was still chewing… don’t think we will be going back.

My friends and I we’re dining here yesterday and we only happened to walk in because the atmosphere was better than the surrounding 4 other restaurants we walked in and out of. the others we’re too loud, wreaked of beer, or over expensive. this place seemed casual and a good menu. we we’re greeted by the bartender who was friendly and told us we can seat ourselves where ever we’d like. we we’re immediately greeted by the waitress and offered to get us drinks. good impression so far. the décor is very confusing. this place doesn’t really know if it wants to be casual or upscale or ocean themed and tacky. there was no flow it was jumbled. when we ordered, the menu was very small, we we’re told they’re redoing their menu, fair enough. my friend ordered mussels(which we’re on the very selective menu) but the waitress said they don’t have them. I think they should mark through it or let people know before they start deciding what to eat that it’s unavailable. so he substituted with crab cakes which turned out to have the«mushiest, watery stuffing» with lemon in it, even though he had asked for no lemon. it was presented on a bed of spinach and veggies, overcompensating? he sent it to be cooked further, it came out way after his food when it was supposed to be an appetizer, and came back burnt, still uncooked in the middle, and lemon-y. the food took a very long time and there were only 2 or 3 other tables occupied. I ordered a Burger. It didn’t sit well with my stomach. it tasted very bland and there was something off about it I don’t know what. I never usually order fries and I got fries here which tasted like potato not cooked, which still tasted better than the Burger. at the end of the meal I was picking at my fries while my friends were done and the waitress got our check right away. the waitress grabbed my friends plate and right after I had put some fries in my mouth I wasn’t done chewing she reached in front of me and grabbed my plate and then asked if I was done. «ummm… I guess so» she didn’t give me any time to respond and she was reaching in front of me before she asked just bc my friends were done eating. I did not enjoy the food, was put off by the service, and don’t see myself ever coming back. I was greeted timely and offered the check without waiting too long. and I didn’t throw up, so that’s why they get 2 stars instead of 1.

Wanted mussels from the very small menu and was told they were out. I got the stuffed clams while with Em(Not crab cakes) worst pile of mush I have ever had, returned them and got blackened mush instead. Fish was ok fries were the most horridly undercooked mess I have ever seen. The length of time we waited in an empty place for undercooked food baffles me. Saving grace was the bartender and prices seemed fair. I felt like we were rushed out by waitress when she grabbed my friends plate then asked if she was done. Plenty other places to eat nearby.

I’ve had a lot of haddock sandwiches and this was by far the best yet. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was very flavorful! The salad that came with it was great too! Service was a bit slow but worth the wait.

It’s funny that most of the Gloucester natives I talk to have not tried this place. Probably because the last Tennant’s did not know what the hell they were doing. Katrina’s is different! She has hired a renowned Chef. I’ve eaten here 5 times now with the Wife and friends/family and never left disappointed. Great service, fresh food, perfect mixed drinks every time. They don’t ignore you like some places but welcome you at the door. They will become a coveted Gloucester legend with time. Steak tips = awesome! Shepherds pie. Mind blowing Stuffed clam. Best I’ve ever had. Cesar and garden Salads perfect! Fresh ingredients. You can see Katrina/the owner there most nights. This is my go to place when tour busses are here. Oops! I should not give away the secret, but I believe in writing a review when I’ve had such consistent good quality and service.

After a long day we were referred to here… I had the stuffed clams that were to die for!!! My husband had the coconut shrimp, which he stated was also good. For dinner we had the Sirloin Tips, his came with the crab cakes… We were both thrilled with our meal. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our waitress was awesome(I wish I remembered her name)

I have been to Katrina’s 3 times. The food is consistently good with good portions and the wait staff(Matthew) is excellent. I can’t wait for the fried clam special again. I will go back.

I had heard a lot of great things about Katrina’s, so I decided to check it out for a Sunday brunch. When I arrived the place was packed and everyone seemed to be either laughing or smiling and having a great time. I had the Seafood Chowder and the Backened Mahi Mahi special. Both were delicious. The décor is clean, bright and cheery. The waitstaff are cheery, courteous and helpful. Overall it was a great time in a great place. I highly recommend it.

It is always fun to be a first reviewer and even better when the dining experience was good. After being unable to get a seat at the seemingly always chaotic Cape Ann Brewing Company, my wife called my attention to Katrina’s just across the street. The exterior looks like the dive bar it used to be(or so I was told), but the interior was filled with warm light and the sounds of people having a good time. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by two friendly staff at the hostess stand. There were two tables and a high boy open in the busy dining room. I confessed that we were just going to have appetizers and drinks. We had a large, late lunch at The Border Café in Saugus and just wanted a nosh after walking Good Harbor and Rockport. «No problem,» we were told, and were seated at the high boy. Once seated, we noticed the artful, playful interior decoration. While Katrina’s has a nautical theme, it is not your old school nets and plastic fisherman execution. I noticed authentic Japanese fish prints, colorful antique glass lobster floats converted to pendant lights, and a variety of paintings ranging from sublime to whimsical, befitting a town with both a rich fishing industry and art history. No detail was overlooked. The glass votive on the table had delicate, tumbled driftwood attached. The space was open and colorful. The menu was a mix of shelled, scaled and hoofed offerings. The specials — listed on a long, narrow blackboard over the serving window of the open kitchen — featured seafood casserole($ 18), prime rib for just $ 16, a couple varieties of broiled fish, and spicy Cajun soup. Katrina’s has a good assortment of draft beers that included a Baxter amber from Maine, Newburyport white ale, a Sam seasonal, Stella Artois and Harpoon IPA. Not every place can be a multi-tap, and Katrina’s pours a nice variety with the space they have. All draft beers were $ 5. My wife and I both had Caesar salads($ 6), a large plate of crisp Romaine mixed with a garlicky, appropriately anchovy accented dressing and house-made croutons. My request for anchovy fillets was met with no problem. My cup of Spicy Cajun soup($ 5) was great: very much like a soupier version of a classic gumbo. My son’s calamari($ 8) was an ample portion of rings and tentacles, perfectly fried and served with a sweet chili sauce. Our server, Ashley, offered marinara, too. We certainly will return to Katrina’s, next time with a bigger appetite. In the meantime, I wish them well. Please let me know what you think of this review by clicking a button below. Thanks.
