Let’s just say, I’ve had way better sushi. We ordered the Godzilla and shrimp tempura roll. Shrimp tempura was very dry. It tasted a lot like sushi you can get from Jewel. Godzilla was decent. It’s not something I would write home about. I’ve only ordered in for pickup, so I can’t speak to the hibachi side or the dining experience. I’m confident I can find better sushi in the area. The quest continues.

Restaurant is a decent size. There is a side for hibachi and a standard restaurant side. Considered hibachi but very expensive. Had a spicy shrimp appetizer I saw someone post on Unilocal but couldn’t find on the menu. They were kind enough to make it for me. It was delicious. I also ordered the green dragon roll. Beautiful presentation. Taste was ok.

Been to this restaurant a couple times for lunch and love it. It is a nice, clean and well decorated restaurant. They have two sections tebbanyaki grill and regular sit down sections. We love their ramen soups. They offer many kinds of ramen soups — large portion that you won’t leave the restaurant hungry. I recommend spicy miso ramen with pork belly and the seafood ramen soup.

My wife and I sat on the hibachi table. we ordered filet, golden shrimp and scallop. Food was so good that we ordered extra golden shrimp /various selections of drink /our server was prompt, polite and attentive despite the busy day which was much appreciated. We didn’t wait long for our food and my cup of tea was always full my wife loved the dessert we’ll definitely be back for more sushi and teppan food

This was my second time having dinner at Fish on Fire. The 1st time we ate at the regular tables and the food was good. This time we ate at the Hibachi table for my daughters birthday and it wasn’t good at all. To be fair the staff was very friendly and attentive, and we were sat quickly(we had a 6:30 reservation and the Hibachi side was empty). They did a great happy birthday at the end where the b-day person comes up and sounds a small gong. Excellent service for sure. The 3 stars is due to the service. If it was a star rating for the Hibachi Food it would be a 1 star rating. The food was horrible. Everyone in our party got some version of a steak dinner. None of them were good. I had calamari and steak. My calamari was under cooked and very chewy. The steaks in general were cooked to the correct Temps but clearly weren’t good cuts of meat to start. Definitely not in line with the price per dinner($ 30– 37). I barely ate and took everything home simply because I didn’t want to leave it behind, but I won’t eat it. The price of the dinners is in line with other Hibachi restaurants, but the quality of the food isn’t even close I love other Hibachi restaurants like tsukasa and Ron of japan. I go to them often. This unfortunately will be my last time dinning at Fish on Fire. At least my daughter enjoyed the celebration part of the dinner

I love hibachi restaurants! I didn’t think something in the suburbs would be good but I was hungry and craving hibachi… but lazy to go to the city… so I decided to look up ones close to home. I loved it! Staff was awesome and the food was great. A little pricey-but that’s an obvi if you want some good hibachi. Definitely going back!

Okay, so let’s just preface that I love tsukasa and I love Rok Bonki so this hibachi style place is basically the same thing but with a different name in a different location. Except it’s not. The quality is eh. We arrived for a quick lunch and were sat a table with another two people and we waited and waited some more. Finally, the lady took our order even though it was basically empty inside, so I don’t understand why it took so long. We ordered the steak and shrimp entrees and my husband got the filet mignon entrée with the fried rice. It comes with soup or salad, which they could have already done both in my opinion like the other places. Oh well, I chose the soup, it was tasty but took like 10 minutes to be brought out. Then we waited and waited for a guy to come out and prepare the hibachi. The wait was way too long, I had long finished my soup and we were still waiting. I think they were waiting for more people to join our technically«can fit 8 people» table but no one else came. I mean I felt like the wait time for lunch was unacceptable. People have to get back to work and stuff so if you want a quick little lunch, this isn’t the place as the wait time can be quite unpredictable. Our chef finally arrived to serve just the four of us there. He was good, same old, good tricks and that didn’t impress me anymore as at this point I wanted my food. The rice was good, the veggies were on the hard side as he was clearly rushing at this point and they were a little hard. I ordered my steak medium and both my husband and I had our served well done, oh well. Those things are not the end of the world but for a hibachi place, they really need to get their act together. So at this point, I’m annoyed with the wait time, the food is very mediocre and for lunch they are a few dollars more for each entrée than Tsukasa. I had a coupon that fish on fire advertises and I decided to use it as it was $ 10 off any bill, with no exclusions. First she says to me, «You can’t use that as its for dinner only» even though clearly it doesn’t say that on the coupon. Then she’s like«I’ll go talk to a manager and get back to you» She comes back and rudely says«We’ll give it to you this time but next time follow the rules as these things don’t usually work for lunch time» Excuse me, why do I need to follow the rules? They need to follow the rules and not give these things out if they don’t want to use them. Clearly businesses use them when they need the extra business so I hate when they get pissed off when a customer actually uses one. Overall, not impressed with the service, nor the attitude, the food was a little over priced and mediocre and I doubt I’ll be back. I very rarely give one star reviews, but certain things should just not go unnoticed. I will not be back because I don’t need extra attitude from somewhere that I could have easily given my business too often, coupons or not.

A girl friend I ended up here on a cold New Year’s Day for dinner. It was he only sushi place open on New Year’s Day. The place was full, there are three sections: bar, dining and hibachi stations. Very spacious restaurant(but maybe I’m just used to being in tiny NY spaces). It was a full house! The service was friendly and fast, probably the best thing about the place. I found the sushi to be tiny and mediocre. Dessert was typical. Sushi could be improved, but to be fair they did say their head chef was off that day.

Had one of the BEST meals ever at fish on fire. I got the chirashi and the cuts of fish were thick, big and so fresh. I havent had sashimi this high quality in a really long time and the price of the dish was only $ 20, which is a pretty great deal. My dad got the tempura udon and the tempura was perfectly crispy and not at all oily, while the udon soup was deep and flavorful. Overall, our experience here was really awesome and the service is so friendly and nice! I’ll definitely be coming back and am already looking forward to our next visit!

I mainly chose this place because I was in the mood for the golden sauce but I really like it here despite that. I always get the hibachi dinner. So that comes with soup, salad, rice and your entrée which comes with veggies. I highly recommend the golden sauce over your fried rice. It’s not the healthiest but it’s so rich and delicious. I crave it every once in a while. I like that this place is clean and they have friendly service. So far I’ve always just walked in and got a table but I tend to go at weird hours. I work in the service industry so I always recommend calling ahead if you’re worried about getting a table. Remember if you’re a small group you might share a table. I think they can fit 8 at each table. Makes it more fun in my opinion! Last time I went service was slow, but I overheard our server tell the other people at our table that they were short staffed. I’m much more understanding when I know what’s going on and he was very apologetic! Highly recommend! Go get some fresh hibachi!

Tried the restaurant today. Came around lunchtime. Ambiance very warm and cozy. Owner very friendly. Had the Assorted sashimi bibimbap. Dad had the Nabeyaki Udon. Split a Godzilla roll. Food very good and fresh. Portions will fill you up. Dad even mentioned the udon broth was good and he liked it. Very difficult to get a compliment from dad. Strongly recommend that everyone should try Fish on Fire. Will not be disappointed. Will come back to try other dishes. Fish on Fire has given me faith. Please open one in the Gurnee area! Thank you!
