Not bad at all!!! Came for the first time here today with a friend and was surprised. The sushi was fresh and the service was on point. I think i found my new go to
sushi place!!!

I used to be a HUGE fan of Ichiban! Like I would go anytime I had the opportunity, but I would go to the la Canada location… When they opened the Glendale location I wanted to try it out and I’m sorry to say, the quality is not the same. On top of that, since they opened Glendale, the quality in La Canada is not the same AND they raised their prices… Lol. Figure that one out. Me and my bud went out and wants sushi so we stopped by the Glendale location (with my hopes that things would be better…). The food itself was ok. Nothing special, but nothing bad (except the crunch roll… Something tasted weird about it…). The service was ok, nothing exceptional, but not bad… What realllllllly killed it is the fact that you have me and my bud sitting at the bar eating our sushi and they begin cleaning up behind the counter. I understand it’s almost the end of the day, you may be tired and want to go home. You want to maybe cut your payroll and send your employees home… BUT when you have customers sitting and eating and your going to bust out BLEACH to clean… That’s pretty ridiculous. We were towards the end of our meal anyways… Like they couldn’t wait 20 minutes?!!
I’m giving it 3 stars cause the food and service was ok, not good, not bad… I should give them 2 stars for bring out bleach while we’re eating… I’m just in a good mood not to do that. I hope no one else experiences that. I have no clue if I would recommend it… I think for the money your going to spend, sorry to say, you could probably find something better.

I love this place! Me and the hubby always go here to satisfy our sushi cravings. They have a variety of sushi rolls. A great spot if you’re looking for good sushi without breaking the bank.
Our usual order:
Calamari Tempura Roll 5÷5− Imitation Crab meat with fried calamari with eel sauce. This is my favorite here. Can’t get enough of these. Simply delicious.
Glendale Roll 5÷5− I love this! Baked Salmon on top of CA with masago and eel sauce. The Salmon melts in your mouth. So succulent.
BSCR Roll 4÷5− it’s basically baked scallop with eel sauce, so good but I find it so sweet.
Spider Roll 5÷5− soft shell crab with eel sauce. One of my faves. Perfectly made!
Baked Mussels and Tempura here are so delicious! Seriously, their baked mussels is to die for! So soft and flavorful. The best I’ve ever had.
Chicken and beef teriyaki (⁰⁄₅) — No, I’m not a fan. Flavorless and dry. Not enticing at all.
Try their salmon collar. If you love salmon, it’s really delish!
Good food. Good service. I don’t know if he’s the owner or manager but he’s nice. Affordable and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

I’ve been coming to here for sushi since I was in high school. The amount of food that you get is less than it was before, but the lunch special price is still the same.
The place is clean, neatly presented and not too crowded for lunch. I went with a group of people and they have lots of settings available. This place reminds me of like a comfort restaurant that you know you can always go to– win win!
The shashimi was nice and fresh, rolls were perfectly made and lunch specials were nice and hot! Their spicy tuna is great– you can tell it’s fresh and not frozen which is great!

I come here when I want good food with reasonable prices. The portions are big and the food is delicious. The lunch combo is 9.95 for 3 items and you have a good amount of choices to choose from. Their sushi is pretty fresh and they have the usual offerings. Service is always efficient and friendly.

Ichiban es un restaurant que lo he visitado por mas de 10 anos. Es un restaurant con excelente gerencia y precios muy modicos dado lo elaborado que es la cocina japonesa. Personal muy bien entrenado en darle la bienvenida y de mantener el local y su mesa siempre limpio
En esta visita ordene una ensalada de algas, un sushi roll de spicy tuna (atun picante), un roll de yellow tail, y un cuello de atun. Es sorprendente la velocidad con que te sirven cuando llegas temprano y no hay mucha clientela. La gerencia ha realizado un trabajo muy bueno en concertar el personal: 4 sushi chefs moviendose constantemente en producir las ordenes solicitada por los comenzales, los meseros tomando ordenes y atendiendo cualquier necesidad que aparesca de los comenzales sin importar la territorialidad de sus companeros de trabajo y los bus boys constantemente manteniendo las mesas y ell restaurant impecable.
La comida: en general el sabor y la frescura de mis platos fueron bastante aceptables. Sin embargo, algo decepcionado de la presentacion de mi sushi rolls, que se desarmaban al escogerlos y cantidades de arroz no bien distribuidos. Aclaracion que hago ya que la comida japonesa no solo se caracteriza por su inconfundible fino sabor pero la delicada destreza de una estetica balanceada que de alguna manera afecta el paladar. Mayor decepcion fue el encontrar un cabello en el borde del plato del cuello de salmon.
A pesar de estas criticas «constructivas» no puedo dejar de admitir que este es uno de mis restaurantes favoritos de visita entre semana por su calidad de ingredientes bastante consistente y sus precios muy modicos. Ademas, de cierta anoransa de ser uno de los restaurantes de mi «barrio» que ha sobrevivido los cambios perversos de la crisis economica.
A pesar de las tres estrellas lo sigo recomendando. :)
