Fried tilapia is may favorite thing to get. Combo is a pretty good deal. Heart attack special. Good stuff. Ambiance is missing. Service is OK.

This first time I had Hip Hop it was fantastic. The chicken was fresh made, the fries were straight out of fryer. The hot sauce and bbq just worked. Just a fantastic fried chicken and still my preference when compared to RoFa. The most recent trip I could tell that the chicken wasn’t as fresh and had sat out, it didn’t have the crunch. The best bet is to order your chicken at Hip Hop rather than phone in your order. This pretty much guarantees that your chicken will be top notched.

Good old fashion fried food… just the way I like it. You WILL leave the restaurant smelling like fried food if you choose to dine in… but overall solid.

Wish I could give negative stars. We ordered fish and chicken strips yesterday evening. The whole family is sick… need I say… food poisoning. We paid $ 35 to get sick. Thanks Hip Hop. Never returning.

My husband came home talking about Hip Hop Fish & Chicken about a week or two ago. So since we were out and about on Sunday morning we decided to go check them out. He got wings and gizzards, which come with fries, slaw, and bread. I got whiting and wings, which come with the same sides. I’ll start with the sides and work my way up. The fries were kind of strange. They seem to be battered(maybe) and fried, which is okay, but gives it a bit of a strange texture. The slaw is on the sweet side, but not bad, seems to be missing something though. I didn’t eat the bread, neither did my husband. The wings were okay, the hot sauce, which I don’t usually use, was just what they needed. The gizzards where a tad overcooked but good nonetheless. The whiting was quite like the wings… okay. They were a little more ‘fishy’ than whiting I’ve had in the past, but they were seasoned well. I liked that they didn’t have that thick crusty batter(beer batter) that you get at most chain restaurants. Everything came with this sprinkling of seasoning over it. The seasoning was good, added something to the food that it was lacking. They should put that on the table. All and all it wasn’t a bad experience. I really wanted to like it more. I don’t eat fish very often, but when I do I want good fish. I don’t consider this to be good fish. At least what I had on Sunday didn’t qualify. I ate most of one piece, my husband finished the rest. I wound up eating most of his gizzards. If I do go back, I won’t make the mistake of getting fish again. But after this experience, I won’t be making another special trip to Glen Burnie just to eat here.

Conveniently located next to a bar. They are good for late night munchies. All of their food is fried in the same grease. AKA everything tastes the same. Weird. I like their hush puppies. Catfish good also. Average.

Oh yeah this is going to be my go to spot for carryout fried fish and wings. The catfish nuggets were tasty. I had the fried whiting filet fish which was a combination with the wings. Now they make a really good coleslaw and l’m real picky about that. Very small container though. I think they should offer an option on your bread such as wheat or white and not assume everyone eat white bread. Other than that the fries were delish! The fish was good and l loved their hotsauce another goody! You can call in your order or wait for them to fix it piping hot For $ 9.99. They do have indoor seating. Sorry my greedy tail didn’t even take any pictures. I ordered carry out and when l got it home on the table. I digged in and the only thing on my mind was eating. Typical for me but it all was very enjoyable.

Not only can you get a 4 pc fish platter with fries, bread, and cole slaw in a box filled to the brim for $ 9.99. Or a mix of chicken/tenders, fish, or shrimp for the same, but they got collard greens(good collard greens), hush puppies, and fried okra. Who is not going to try this at least once! I mean if you’re reading this, and haven’t looked at the pictures then you’re already slipping! The first time I came across this place I was driving up to pay a ticket at the MVA across the street, and from then on I knew one day our paths would collide again. Overall I really enjoy the food here. I’m sure there are spots that out here boasting a better tasting product with a bunch of bougie unnecessary ingredients, but not Hip Hop Fish & Chicken! If i had to choose 6 words to describe the food here they would be «Fish fry at your grandmothers church.» Thats the ind of vibe that I get from the place personally. Another phrase that comes to mind would be «420 Friendly», though I won’t elaborate, i’ll just point you in the direction of the photos of the food taken at this location, and im sure you’ll understand.

This place is great if you’re craving fried food. I usually get ten piece wings(whole wings) which is great for the price. I also get the fried catfish once in a while and that’s great too. The food is always fried fresh to order and come out nice and hot.

This place has continued to be a family favorite expanded menu and family meal plans makes it easier for everyone to get a lil bit of this and that. Hush puppies are divine and taste like my aunts down south…

I called in an order of my favorite wings. When I went to pick up my wing dinner(wings, fries and slaw) I was glad to realize that HipHop now offers greens, yams and mac&cheese as a new sides option. My order was already prepared, so I didn’t do an add on, oh, but next time I’m on it.

Stopped for a quick bathroom break and took a shot at the chicken and fries. The menu is expansive with Fish chicken and everything is deep fried even the string beans. We enjoyed it but it took 15 minutes to fill the order and everything was way over salted. Probably would not head back.

I had a business lunch here last week. Everything we got was fried(catfish fillet, ocean perch, spicy green beans). The flavoring in the breading was great and the catfish was fresh and juicy. The only problem was that the serving size was massive! We could have shared a meal and had a tough time finishing all of the food. If they offered some non-fried or blackened fish, it would have been 5 stars.

I didn’t even make it home before I began eating. I ordered the four wings and catfish nuggets for $ 8.99. It comes with french fries and coleslaw and bread. All items were hot fresh and delicious. I’ll be returning to try other items on the menu. I didn’t mind waiting especially since they made my order fresh if you are in a hurry call ahead for pickup.

Avoided this place for a while because it looked sketchy as hell. I regret every time I passed this by. This place has my favorite chicken fingers. Once you order it they batter and fry it for you fresh. Everything has been awesome. Haven’t had anything that I didn’t like yet. They do not have fountain sodas but they charge a very reasonable price for 20 or 24oz bottles($ 1.50). Wish this place was closer but it is definitely worth the 30 minute car ride to get here(and then shop at Shoprite after!)

I am updating my review. My prior review was only a 2 star. They have improved to a 4 star. Fairly quick food. Cheap… 10 wings for 8.99… includes fries and coleslaw. Came piping hot. I think they put a little dusting of sugar on their fried chicken which is different but pretty yummy.

I’m in agreement with everyone else, the chicken here is good! I’d choose it over Popeye’s, KFC, and Royal Farms. With that being said, I can’t say everything else was equally as good. With a name like«Hip Hop» whatever… we knew what we were potentially walking into when we pulled up and didn’t have high standards for appearance and ambience. Cleanliness, yes… ambience, no. This place is your typical fast food joint or possibly a notch below. The building looks as if it’s had a few turnovers and probably a handful of name, sign, cuisine, and owner changes. You know the type of establishment I’m describing, right? The drive-thru is permanently closed and appears to have been defunct for years. The inside is not the cleanest, but it doesn’t scream unsanitary either. We ordered a chicken breast and tilapia combo, shrimp(10) and chicken wing combo, side of okra, side of hush puppies, banana pudding, and a bean pie to-go. The combos came with fries, cole slaw, and two slices of white bread. We didn’t touch the bread and I was told the cole slaw was gross before I even attempted to give it a try. It looked a little watery. Anyway, the fish wasn’t bad and the fries were decent. We would have rated the okra and fries as great, however they sprinkle this really weird powder on things that tastes like an odd mix of salt and powdered sugar. It’s really peculiar tasting and has no place on the food. You’ll see it in my pictures but it’s totally unnecessary and if you can have it omitted when ordering, I would. I’m glad we experienced a variety, to include their seafood, but I’d just stick to their fried chicken because they seem to do that well minus that weird powder mix. The chicken was crispy, piping hot, and seasoned well. Naturally it was a deep fried-cholesterol-artery filling overload, which left me feeling sluggish afterwards, but that was to be expected given that it’s all fried food. The dessert was horrible. The banana pudding didn’t contain real bananas and the bean pie appeared to be very old. I’m always leery of alleged homemade baked goods of this kind that don’t state an expiration or creation date and these desserts validated that concern. We both took a few bites and tossed more than ¾’s of the desserts in the trash. All of our food came out quickly with about a 10 minute wait. The portion sizes were huge and we both had enough for leftovers for a full meal the following day, if fried foods were worth reheating. The customer service was nothing to write home about… no greetings, smiles, etc… but previous Unilocalers warned of this. When in the mood for fried chicken and when I need my fix every three months or so, I’d return just for the chicken… not the seafood or desserts. Enjoy!
