I love this place. I’ve always had long hair so I was kinda scared to get a short hair style. I love my short hair and I am definitely going to become a regular!

Everything at Shag was top notch. The atmosphere, product line, cleanliness, staff were all upscale. Heather, the owner, is amazing she is so great at what she does and is truly competent, sweet and passionate about her clients and business. She also owns an awesome beauty bar that is such a great addition to downtown Gilroy. I was very spoiled there. Her generous nature is evident in the many fundraisers she always contributes to as well to he Gilroy community. Heather’s heart, commitment and superb customer service really stood out to me.
Megan, stylist new to Shag, gave me a great haircut, really taught me how to style my hair and she texturized it so well. Would definitely recommend going to either of them. I feel lucky to have two classy establishments in Gilroy.

I heard nothing but raves about this salon so i decided to give it a try. The stylist i was referred to was booked for months (good sign) so i was given an appt with another stylist. My review is based on my one and only visit.
I know the basics of doing hair (Cosmetology graduate) and have been doing my own hair for decades. I wanted to try a place that was clean and sanitary, professional, with excellent customer service. This place almost met those expectations. I was greeted warmly and had wine during my visit. Nice treat! I love that they use Aveedo natural products
I went in for highlights. The final result was mediocre for the price. There were other issues but in the end I expected more for $ 175.

I absolutely love this place. I started coming to this salon a year or two ago after my regular hair stylist moved. I chose Shag Salon based on the reviews and the fact that it’s within walking distance.
It’s a bit pricey, but you get what you paid for. I see Leah, and she is amazing. One day I said «just go nuts with my hair. Do what you feel best.» and she did. It was the best hair cut I have ever gotten. Leah is pleasant to talk to, and one of the only people I feel I can freely talk about myself (usually I prefer focusing on the person I am talking to).
The products are very good. They use Aveda. I get my hair dyed red, and the color is still there after 6 weeks, with the help of some color conserving shampoo and conditioner.
I would definitely recommend Leah for anyone like me that is indecisive about what they want done with their hair. She won’t steer you wrong. You will have to book several weeks out though, as she is very popular!

Okay ladies look no more! If you want a professional and warming enviorment to transform your hair in to the beauty it deserves, shag is your salon! I have been going to Kim for years now and she is the best of the best. Not only does she have many years of experience under her belt, but everytime I visit her she always has a new vision for my hair, that I would of never even thought of. I use to drive all the way to morgan hill to have her do my hair, so when I found out the salon was moving to gilroy, I was so stoked. I have referred many friends and family members to kim and they have all given the same reviews, that she is an amazing gal that knows what she’s doing. She just gave me a blonde ombré and i’m in love, I dont have to worry about roots and it looks natural even. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for me in the future, I love changing things up. So bottom line, go to the best salon in gilrory and visit kim, trust me you will not be dissapointed!

I have been going to Dana for fifteen years and I can’t say enough good things about her. From the first time she did my hair I felt comfortable and confident she had my best interest in mind. She always asks what I want done prior to starting. If I’m not satisfied, which has maybe been twice in fifteen years, she will redo it without charge. I have always found her to be very upbeat, positive and attentive to my personal beauty needs. Dana is focused professionally, always keeping up on the latest styles and I would not hesitate to recommend her services to anyone.

I want to RAVE about Dana! I was a lost soul when it came to finding a hairstylist the last 3 years until I happened upon Shag Salon and stylist Dana. I liked her immediately because of her professional and warm demeanor. I feel like a very appreciated customer by her and Shag salon. She is EXCELLENT in hair color. She has a gift of applying the right color combination every time (I’m quite picky, Ive been through many stylists in the last few years). I finally found a stylist that I feel comfortable and confident in their abilities. I always get compliments on my cut and color where ever I go. Dana ROCKS! She is an great addition to a great salon. i recommend Dana and Shag Salon HIGHLY! You will not be disappointed!

Dana is the most AMAZING hair stylist. It took many years from salon to salon trying to find a good hairstylist and I finally found my home at shag salon and my gem of stylist Dana. She is sweet, listens to what I want, gives me great advice for my hair, and also seems she genuinely cares about her clients. My first experience there Dana greeted me with a smile and offered me something to drink while I waited. Shag salon is clean, warm, cozy, and friendly. Great customer service and I highly recommend Dana. Glad I walked in to check it out. It’s gilroy hidden treasure.

Well, Heather has done it again. She is AMAZING. She knows my hair better than I do!
I have had long hair (below my shoulder blades) since the 8^th grade — I’m 30 so that kinda tells you how long I’ve had long hair. I’ve been wanting to cut my hair short — about to my chin, but I’ve been too scared to do it. I didn’t really like how my short hair looked in 8^th grade, but knew that I wanted to try something different.
In one of my previous appointments with Heather she told me something that I had thought about for awhile after– it was that in each picture you have of yourself you should be able to tell what year it was by your hairstyle. What an amazing idea! I thought, «You know, she’s right!’ and so on my next appointment with her I had her cut my hair short.
She cut my hair about an inch below what I thought would look good on me (silly me, I should have known that she knew better than I did with what to do to my hair). The length was longer than I had anticipated and I really had my heart set on my hair being up to my chin. Well my hair is naturally wavy and she had straightened it. I went home thinking that I should call her up to just get it cut shorter a little more.
Um, wrong! Heather knows what she is doing!
When I finally washed my hair, my natural wave bounced back to the perfect spot that I had wanted and my hair looks amazing! So much so that I don’t think I’ll ever have long hair again.
It’s easy to manage and it looks like I spent so much time on my hair when all I did was put in the Aveda Be Curly gel (that Heather gave me a tip on — she ALWAYS has great tips and tells you how best to take care of the hair she so lovingly cut) and let my hair naturally dry.
Lesson learned — never second guess her work. She knows what she is doing. And she does it SO well! Thank you Heather!

Ok… this is no ratatattat hair salon! My girl Tiffany is as good as it gets! shag salon has a great staff, is very professional and the salon itself is so cute and stylish! Tiffany is awesome with color and highlights! She is up front and honest and will not let you leave looking wack!
Everywhere I go I always get compliments on my hair color. I absolutely love Tiff and drive all the way from San Jose to Gilroy just to get my hair done! Five Stars for my girls at Shag!!!

Shag Salon is the best. I am so glad that it moved to Gilroy. The girls at Shag are as good as it gets. I have been going to Lea for 8 years and have had great results everytime. I am constantly asked «Who does your hair?» The new location is so cute, it is so much fun to go there. I would recommend it to everyone.

I got a gift of a haircut for my out of control hair from my BF: P. I met with Heather and she was awesome!!! She listened to my concerns, the way I style my hair, etc. She gave me some tips and we talked about future ideas (I have lots of them!) Ways to take care of my mess of curls and extremely thick hair. She took the time to straighten my hair (no easy or quick feat) and then gave me a great cut and thinned it out. I was so impressed with her and the salon in general.
The salon was amazing and so welcoming! They are a family owned business and make their new and old customers eager to come back! It’s like a mini day at the spa! I can’t wait to visit again!

I screwed my hair up (bleached it without her… dumb) and she is helping me get it back to healthy. Not sure what I would do without her. Probably end up bald LOL!

After seeing how amazing the girl at Starbucks hair always looks, I finally asked her where she gets her hair done. She told me she goes to Lea Rogers at Shag Salon. I immediately drank my latte and called Shag Salon to book my appointment with Lea. I have a rather difficult schedule which only leaves late evening or Saturday appointments to work for me. I had to book a few weeks out because Lea’s schedule was really full. I took this as another sign that Lea was great… she’s so busy with clients that you have to book far in advance.
My appointment day finally came. My stressed tresses were finally getting a cut after 6 long months. Lea sat me right down and began to massage my scalp with an amazing Aveda oil. She asked me what I’d like done to my hair and then gave her recommendation. I’m always open to an experts advice especially when we’re talking about my hair. After the shampoo, she worked my hair like nobodies business. There was zero awkward moments of silence given that this was my first time meeting Lea. She was so easy to talk to, not gossipy and certainly knew what she was doing. I was in and out of there in an hour which I truly appreciate. The salon was very stylish, clean and has a fantastic supply of Aveda products. Shag has a new home on 5^th Street in Gilroy as of early November. I’m looking forward to seeing Lea again soon.
