Western Fried Chicken

This place is really quaint and reminds me of diners I’ve seen in old movies. We both ordered the cheeseburger value menu, and they were great!

What makes it Western? What is Eastern Fried Chicken? Well, the owner of this place is from Eastern Europe it appears, so Western I guess means American (?).
Cheap, but the food in the pictures on the menu board look made from frozen. You have to pass a tourist shop (some unique stuff) to get to the back of the building where his café is.
The chicken is under heat lamps for who knows how long. I avoided the fried and went for a BBQ chicken piece, instead of a meal. It was on the over-​cooked or under-​the-​lights-​too-​long side, and a small piece, but not what you want if you are visiting the Strand as a tourist.
You might consider getting a fruit smoothie instead. The nice European immigrant-​accented man will customize what you want with whatever fruits he has on hand. The later in the day, the less options, though. Pineapple-​banana was OK and at least healthy.
