Good was good, pricing was ok, service was ok… It was very hot inside. Although I don’t necessarily have anything bad to say I’m not sure I’ll go out of my way to go back. Lackluster?

The 61st Street Diner is BAAACK! Even«Mom» is there greeting everyone and making sure everything is running smoothly. The food is better than it was before Ike. The homemade corned beef hash is excellent, and the«Veggie Tarian» omlet was really fresh and good. The hash browns were crisp, and you can get sliced tomatoes on the side; an old favorite. I thought the pancakes were very good. They added some cinnamon that made them even tastier. Service was a little slow, but hopefully they’ll work that out. I’m glad they’re back and I’ll be a frequent flyer on Sunday morning.

I forgot that smoking in restaurants is legal in most cities untill I walked into The Diner. My kids and I probably both have cancer from the amount of second hand smoke we inhaled. Honestly, my four year old thought smoking was illegal until we ate there. On a seperate note, the food was good. Basic breakfast and my daughter had fried chicken strips, but good none the less. Our waitress was nice, she just doesn’t bother you unless you motion to her. To her defense, I think she’s probably used to getting yelled at on a regular basis. It’s right on the ocean, but you’d never know it. I think the windows have a thick sun-blocking layer of nicotine lining them. It is what it is. It’s The Diner.
