Well, the place(and all of the other bars that make the Spot) are super Galveston, that’s for sure. Crowded tourist trap with blah, expensive drinks and a very club atmosphere. As a couple in our late 20s, I felt like we were way younger than the rest of the crowd as well. Had one drink and moved on to Beerfoot, which is way more us.

It was a good place but it’s always super crowded because of tourists(that’s me). I don’t think under 21 is allowed in this area, only one section of the three places is designated kid friendly and this was not it. The wings were great and the drinks were okay. Get there early to beat the rush or your doomed to wander around looking for a parking spot, then a place to eat and sit. Wait, wait, wait is what happens when you come here during the busy hours.

Sat over in this area for a few drinks after we were done at the Rum Shack. This place is fun too! They have grass seats, chair swings, high tops along the sides so you can look out at the ocean! The vibe here is a little more upbeat, louder music and has a little more pep than Rum Shack! We tried their seafood stuffed jalapenos, they were pretty tasty, they fell apart super easy, but nice and spicy, definitely something different to try. The staff here was also fun and friendly, a lot of different choices when it comes to drinks. Think more tropical and mason jar! :)

I was in Galveston for a trade show and wandered down the street to find someplace to eat. I found Sideyard on Unilocal and once I found the bar that had alcohol, everything was good. Great service, solid pours, and great company from the gals behind the bar. Yep, I’d do it again!

My friend and I went here for cinco de mayo. We went here before when it was the drip. We live on the island so we don’t really go here because it’s very touristy. We figured what the heck lets try it out. We sat at the bar for 6 minutes before the bartender finally took our drink order. Some guy came up right next to us and she took his before ours which I thought was rude. We ordered one of the drinks on the menu and they were amazing. However, the bartender was seriously super rude to us. I don’t know if it’s because we were girls or what. We told her her hair looked cute and she gave us a dirty look. We were honesty just trying to be friendly. I wouldn’t go back here regardless of how good the drink was. The service was terrible and I felt like I was annoying the bartender for ordering a drink. Isn’t that your job? I’m a bartender and I’ve never been rude to anyone for ordering a drink. That’s how I make my money.

This place was pretty cool. They have a build your owen Bloody Mary bar. The bartender gives you the vodka and you get to choose from a variety fixings and mixes for your drink. It was cool but the house Bloody Mary looked good too. The seating was a little limited but I did eventually get a spot in the hammock swing which was relaxing in its own little section of the bar.

My boyfriend and I went here twice this past weekend because it was so good! Saturday night was packed(but in a good way) and the music was awesome. I ordered a drink called«the perfect pear» and my boyfriend ordered«the orange dream,» these drinks were huge and delicious. They use fresh ingredients in their cocktails, and you can tell. The colors inside the bar are vibrant and the vibe is great. I loved it! If you are ever on the seawall in need of a drink I suggest this place. The only feedback I’d like to give is the bartenders never smiled and looked like they’d rather be somewhere else. Other than that it was great and I will definitely go back!

Incredible beach bar. Good drinks and good prices. Newly updated and fresh atmosphere. Sideyard is also attached to four other bars and a restaurant so there is plenty to do in that area.

It’s part of The Spot along the seawall and not at all what you think it’s gonna be when you walk in. This place is clean and bright and well staffed and run. We avoid the bars along the seawall when we visit Galveston because we always figure they’ll be kinda dirty or trashy. Our plans rarely include sitting and drinking when we are on the Island. But it was St Patty’s Day and we started our pub crawl here. We always thought The Spot was gonna have a dive bar feel and crappy deep fried food. But we made our way through the maze of cute, brightly decorated and clean little bar areas to the upper level and the Sideyard. Each open bar area had a different drink focus — rum, beers, margaritas etc. The Sideyard had beers and bloody Marys and a list of signature cocktails that rival most any mixologist in Houston. A Perfect Pear was the biggest hit of the ones we ordered. Depending on what type of liquor you like — from cider and beers to flavored vodkas to champagne and St Germain — they mix some tasty beverages with these wonderful ingredients. They come in oversized Mason jars and at $ 8.50 they are a nice bargain. They also do some fun shot bombs with the same premium liquors and brews. Now for the food… yum. Fresh and flavorful. The bacon wrapped shrimp were very tasty. Small but tasty. Not overcooked but still the bacon was crispy. But the chicken tostadas were the best. Small diced chicken breast, plenty of pico and lettuce and avacado and jalapeño. I would have these every time I come.
