3 Stars –_– They need to remodel the amenties to get it up and running to become attractive. We came here before the Hurricane Ike, everything worked, bathrooms, concession stand, the store etc. It was our favorite place. We tried to come back two years ago but it was closed. This summer its open but with port-a-potties. Disappointed :(

I came here with my family around 7pm on a weeknight in July and we found a no-frills, but divinely quiet beach. The pavilion appears to be closed for repairs, so we had to change in the car. However, the showers outside are in order. Despite the lack of amenities, it was all worth it to watch the flocks of pelicans passing overhead and to run across the sand into the surf on a clean beach. Not too many people around and no litter in sight. It looks like this park is neighbored by a resort hotel, but the beach still appears to be a hidden gem. Another highlight is the plant life on the dunes here — enough to prompt my parents to have a discussion about gardening and if they could grow any of those yellow flowers in their yard, and do they carry them at Lowes. Hah! In all seriousness, though, it’s really pretty here. Maybe I shouldn’t be telling you this. Shh.
