We came in with a large group at the spur of the moment and they were certainly able to accommodate us right away. The food was good and were the prices. the stuffed mushrooms are always consistently good. The calamari plentiful but a bit overcooked. I had the eggplant and really loved it. We all had a very good time and will be back.

The minestrone soup was funky! Did not even look like minestrone soup-tasted like thick grossness. The place smelled like cedar moth balls, and they were lacking air conditioning. VERY hot. The ice cream was the best part. I would rate it a 4. Got the Carmel Apple-yum, however a little pricey at $ 4 for 1 scoop. We won’t return. We tried it, and it disappointed.

The service is good. However, the food is not. If you’re looking to feast at a lunch buffet, then Marios may be for you. However, if you want the good pizza and Italian food, then there are much better choices in Galveston.

Used to come here when I was a kid just a couple years after it opened in 1967. My parents and relatives went here soon as it opened as they lived on the island then. I was born same year it opened and had gone to the old hole in the wall pizza place many, many times as a kid til the early 80“s. Man I remember the pizza here being so good!!! So after my stroll down memory lane there let’s talk about today’s Mario’s. Not the same old hole in the wall it used to be with the Italian man behind counter that I used to watch throw dough up, twirling it in the air. Ordered half pepperoni/shroom and half Mario’s special. It was still a very good pizza, but the crust was not at all the same as the good old days, not as crisp and bubbly and no spots of orange grease under the pizza like I remember. Guess you gotta epect change after so many years, but still it was a damn good pizza. For those that ate pizza here in the 70“s, ya know what I’m talking about. If it was the same as back in the day I would of gave it 6 stars. But still recommended.

Very friendly staff, our waiter was slammed with 2 large parties(there were only 2 of us) and the hostess stepped in and helped him out to make sure we were taken care of. Both were friendly and nice. Lasagna was amazing, my daughter loved the spaghetti with garlic and oil with chicken. Price wasn’t bad. Will definitely eat here again when in town!

They say everyone in Galveston is on Island time, and this place was no different. The delicious food more than makes up for it though. Everyone in our party got something different and we shared and there wasnt a bad bite. It was all delicious. Make sure to leave room for dessert because theirs are amazing! That was the best part for sure. Homemade ice cream and Tiramisu. This was my favorite place on all of Vacation.

They have great gluten-free pizza(12 inch only). The best versions are the margarita version and the Tuscan chicken with the gluten-free crust.

Had delivery service to a nearby hotel. Super quick service, order was correct. Food tasted like authentic Italian freshly prepared. I had lasagna, salad, and garlic bread. Portions were very generous, enough for two people easily. Delivery person was very pleasant and efficient. I highly recommend and would visit the restaurant if in the area again.

Checked reviews for this place first, all correct on recommending this place. Had the lobster ravioli, seafood was the freshest I’ve ever had and very tasty. Portion was on spot. Service was also excellent. My husband had the lasagna and loved it.

Really good food, I would recommend for sure. We were part of a party, so I can’t really speak to the service, other than to say the waitress was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The décor was clean and neat, nothing fancy. My wife and I both went with the lasagna, and it was a very large portion of meaty, cheesy lasagna– not over-sauced as is the case with many small Italian places. The meat was not too spicy, the sauce was fantastic, the cheese covered the huge chunk, and the noodles were firm and the perfect amount. This is the best lasagna I’ve had in a long time, and I left very full. Before the lasagna came out, we were provided with a garlic cheese bread that was excellent, though maybe a little well done for me. Authentic marinara sauce that looks to be made on house was served as a dipping sauce. With the meal they gave us a sliced sourdough bread, not warm or toasted but great for soaking up sauce on the plate. Plenty of good iced tea, unsweetened only, to go along. I’d gladly go back to Mario’s our next trip.

No. Gave it one last try. Still a nope. Hostess and waitress were lovely, however. Cheese on pizza wasn’t even completely melted and the tomatoes in my caprese salad were rotten — huge problem if that’s a main component… Hubby’s Hawaiian pizza was mediocre(crust on both pizzas tasted institutional) and my dad’s spaghetti with meat sauce was blah. My parents love their location on the seawall but this location has never lived up to that.

Portion sizes for their portion control plates were absolutely perfect! Also their bread tastes great as did their ravioli. However I did notice the place was rather dimly lit and that was a little distracting. Not sure if that was on purpose.

Great value in the lunch buffet with above average traditional Italian and really good pizza. A bit crowded since it’s rather small and very popular at lunchtime

Best pizza place on the island. The pizza is always good. I get the Mario’s Special or the white pizza. The pasta is also really good, I get the chicken fettuccine. The friend calamari is pretty good. It is busy during dinner but the wait is worth it. The staff is friendly. I usually order pick up but when I do eat here, it is a good experience.
