We are on the island and decided to splurge for donuts this morning. Best decision made. I Unilocaled local donut shops and this was top rated and I can see why. My son got the large sausage kolache that he really enjoyed. I picked my favorite apple fritter and let me tell you it did not disappoint, crispy outside, soft inside filled with Apple chunks and cinnamon. So good! We also got donut holes, glazed and a variety of mixed that my kids all said were great. We came in at 10:30 on a Tuesday, selection was plentiful and fresh, service was fast and friendly. We will be back.

One otherwise boring Saturday morning my wife and I decided to find the best donut shop on Galveston Island. We purchased standard glazed donut holes from each establishment to compare. In my opinion Donut Palace is the best donut shop on the east side of the island and possibly the best overall(tied with Home Cut Donuts on Stewart Rd). My experience here was all positive; the staff was friendly even during a busy rush, and the donut holes were very fresh and perfectly glazed and textured. I also had a jalapeño cheese kolache that didn’t disappoint. If you’re on the east side and crave some donuts or kolaches then look no further then Donut Palace.

This may be the best place I’ve ever stopped for donuts. We went while on vacation in Galveston on a Sunday morning around 10am and this place was hopping. There were a lot of people coming or going to church because they were all dressed up. I mentioned to a elderly lady while u waited in line that«this must be the place to be» and she kindly said worship was the place to be before the Donut Palace. I smiled and agreed with her. These donuts were heavenly though indeed! They were quick(patient and kind too) even with the line so don’t let it change your mind. We got a a nice sampling of the case. The glazed, donuts holes, apple fritter, cake with sprinkle, one of those sausage buns with cheese and all were so good and so fresh. They were selling so many glazed they just left them in the back counter to grab that kind(the tray was replaced twice while I was in line. I by far the absolute best apple fritter I’ve ever had in 45 years of living. Big chunks of Apple, cinnamon and a perfect crunchy crust on the outside yet soft on the inside. delicious! I’m so glad this isn’t my neighborhood donut shop! I’d be in trouble. It’s a must go to donut shop if in this area.

Excellent, authentic local donuts. All types– buttermilk„ cake and regular ones — are delicious. Donuts are fluffy. Then, they melt in the mouth. The best donut place I’ve tried so far in the area. Apple fritters are divine too. If you just want to try how good they are, you need to buy two pieces. Because as we were driving away, and trying one apple fritter, we ran out and regretted that we did not get more. But we were lazy to drive back.

It’s not going to blow you away with its quality but it does have tasty croissant sandwiches and burritos. The coffee is hit and miss. I like that it’s a small family shop and it’s in walking distance for me.

How does this place only have 12 reviews?! Possibly some of the best doughnuts I’ve had in Texas! I was there on a busy Sunday morning, line was coming out the door. The place was bustling, and the fresh doughnut smell permeated the entire area surrounding the place, including the very big parking lot which managed to be full too. I got there a little after 9:45, and they were already out of apple fritters, but still had plenty of other doughnuts. Plenty of variety of fluffy donuts, only one type of buttermilk doughnut from what I could tell in the casing, and lots of kolaches too. The fluffy doughnuts are super fluffy, and and a great amount of fresh crunching to the outside that you crave in fresh doughnuts. Their cake doughnuts were also not super dense either and not sugar-overloaded, just the right amount of sweetness to go along well with a good black coffee. It seems super local, and at first I thought they only took cash, but they definitely take credit card too. I’ve tried the Shipley in town too, and wasn’t too impressed, this is definitely the place to go!

Stopped in on our recent vacation to Galveston, and tried the fritters based on other Unilocal reviews. They had good sized chunks of apples in them and were simply the best fritters I had ever had! My son had a delicious éclair, and his brother had a cinnamon roll — which was a challenge to eat, but well worth the effort. The simple glazed donuts were fresh and yummy as well. Agree there’s no ambiance, but the woman who served us was perfectly attentive and polite. A great breakfast stop!

Best ever apple fritters and breakfast croissants EVER!!! Shipley’s aint got nothin on Donut Palace! The service here is also amazing and even though they are slammed every morning they serve you with a smile and FAST :) The only thing that would make this place better is if they had a drive through. I don’t know why anyone is complaining about«the crowd»…I’ve never been bothered and they always open the door for me. I have never had a better apple fritter and breakfast croissant in my life and they are cheap too. This is probably one of the best«hole-in-the-wall» places in Galveston. My coworkers also love their kolaches.

Yes, I love sugar. And carbs. And when you combine them… there’s just no hope. Was advised to drop my Shipley’s and try this local haunt out. Yes, they have good donuts and cinnamon rolls. I don’t really appreciate the crowd and line though. Meh. Also of note, I stood out like a sore thumb here.

This is a great place for a quick breakfast! Not only do they make delicious donuts and kolaches(regular and croissant), they also make some good ol Texas BREAKFASTTACOS!!! These tacos are delicious here and sooooo cheap. I definitely enjoy coming here and will come back again and again. Oh also– donut holes. Can’t find them anywhere else in Galveston so far.

Donut Palace is the best place for donuts on the island. There is usually a line out the door in the mornings and for good reason. I love the apple fritters here because they have huge chunks of real apple instead of the corn syrup filling that shipley’s uses. They have all the typical donut flavors along with kolaches and breakfast croissants. You can get everything you want here in the morning for under $ 3.00 I’d say its a good deal if your not counting your calories that day!

Nice selection of pastries, and good coffee. We arrived later in the day, so we did not have so much to choose from. The staff is friendly and the facility is kept clean.
