The Wildflower Cafe

I know this place has new management and will take some time to get everything in order. Super friendly people here and excellent coffee! The bad — ordering at the counter. We had a party of 4 and one person’s food came out 15 minutes before everyone else. I’d like to check back in here at a future time and see how they’re coming along.

Excellent café style place to eat. During the warm season you can enjoy sitting outside. Location is at the heart of Frenchtown, NJ and the food is fresh and healthy. No fried food here.

I was sad to see the River Blue Café close, but this place is also pretty good for a nice lunch in town. The setup was a little unusual, because you order your food at the counter and pay for it there. Then you go sit down and they bring the food to you. Perhaps this is just on slow days, as we were there on a Wednesday.
There are a lot of coffees to choose from, but the cold drink selection was limited to a few bottles and cans. There was a soup available, but we didn’t order it, though it did sound pretty good. The menu is full of Panini sandwiches and salads, which seemed to accommodate a wide spectrum of diets. I had the Carni panini, which is roast beef, onions, roasted red peppers, and fresh mozzarella on home made focaccia. It was really good, and came with a small side salad. They only had oil and vinegar for the salad, and the pickle that was supposed to accompany it, never made it on the plate. My wife had the Umbria panino, which was eggplant, roasted red peppers, balsamic, provolone on homemade focaccia. Her’s was also missing the pickle, and the sandwich didn’t have the provolone that was included in the description.
The service was great. Even though it’s an odd ordering/​paying/​serving setup, we were checked on a few times. We sat outside because it was a beautiful unseasonably warm day in November. I would suggest to them that they get some nice shades for the outside seating, because the sun does get a little intense there during the lunch hours, however the warming beams were welcomed today. It’s a solid 3 stars, and could be a solid 4 stars if they make a few changes. However, I gave it the 4^th star anyway, because I’m the first review and they’re still getting into their groove. We’ll certainly be back there for lunch during the week, and you should give it a try also!
