Nice diner. Comfortable atmosphere with good food, friendly staff and fair prices. Who could ask for more. Enjoy!

Always consistent with good food and great service. The vegetarian bliss w bacon is my favorite. Don’t forget to ask them for a muffin buttered and grilled, yum.

Wonderful food with very courtesous service — amazingly busy, but worth the wait. It’s a small place so be prepared to squeeze into a booth. Fresh pie and french toast are fantastic for the sugar-addicted.

The café has been a staple in Frenchtown for about a decade now. Their food is consistently good from the breakfast foods to the lunch items you can’t go wrong. Usually you see someone on Unilocal saying they have a picky child that won’t eat anything, but you brough him/her to this place and they loved everything. Well my picky child is my 68 year old father. I finally brought him down to the Café and he loved it! No matter what you get it’s fresh and made to order. If you are in the area and looking for a wholesome breakfast stop by!

I came here with 3 girlfriends before water tubing. I had such a delicious breakfast! Everything was fresh and didn’t make me feel too full. I would go back if I’m ever in that area again.

Went to the café for breakfast. What a great find. We sat at the counter and had the lumberjack breakfast which had eggs, ham and pancakes. Others had banana walnut pancakes and bliss omelette. All were delicious. Lumberjack pancakes were crispy on the outside yet soft inside. Perfectly prepared. Banana walnut pancakes I would recommend the short stack since the Full stack was unable to finish. Nice place, great breakfast and attentive staff.

Just finishing up lunch and paying the check after we stopped by here while visiting the area. Very friendly staff in what seems to be the best place in town to eat. I had a cup of soup(Tuscan kale/sausage) which was quite good. I make a similar soup at home(with broccoli rabe instead of kale) and also add some cannelloni beans, but this had a little cream(or milk?) which I think I might add next time to my soup at home. I then had their crab cake salad which I enjoyed very much. Nice and crisp sitting on some lettuce and some brochetta sprinkled all over it. Nice and light. My wife had their avocado/brie/apple grilled sandwich which was very good, but how can you go wrong with those 3 ingredients on buttered toast. Still, it’s a combination neither of us had had before so being big fans of cheese, we’re going to have to try something like this at home. Frenchtown is such a cool town to walk around and shop or just use any of the walking/running/biking trails along the Delaware… with New Hope and Lambertville further down the road.

Great little place for breakfast or lunch! Staff is so friendly, service is great, cute décor throughout the place and OH! Did I mention that the food is delicious?! We tried the chicken and stars soup– very tasty and hearty. The omelettes are huge and very filling.(The home fries were a little over done and could use more flavor, though. French fries are a great alternative) the pastrami sandwich was very flavorful, fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone in the area.

The Frenchtown Café has everything going for it. A beautiful riverside town in the wilds of west Jersey. A main street location that could be a movie set. And, turn of the century(19th to 20th) décor that feels Victorian and country kitchen at the same time. The black T’s looked good on the staff, and the high gloss bar/counter could have been taken from a bowling alley it is so tight and shiny. Still, I was just there for a light bite during my drive from Phillipsburg back to Trenton. I only needed hot Java and a small nosh. The Blueberry Muffin was what I chose. So, while my sampling was small, it was also insightful. The pastry was past its prime. Dry and approaching staleness. As good as the atmosphere was, and how much everyone was enjoying their conversations, I picked the short straw and came away mildly disappointed. There is a lot of competition for the brunch buck in Frenchtown. Even a small lapse of attention to quality control can be the reason to move on to the next venue. I might stop in again, but very likely only after the alternatives are explored.

Great old fashion café, it’s like stepping back in time, food is so good, and so are the people that work there, you will be treated like a local even if your not.

Great breakfast! I had the French toast with ham and brie. My husband had the huevos rancheros. Both meals were excellent and a good value. The place has a great small town feel. We will definitely go back to try some of their lunch menu. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it is just a breakfast/lunch joint. It wasn’t the best food I’ve ever had but is definitely worthy of a solid 4 star Unilocal review

Chicken noodle soup was delicious. My daughter ate all of it in under 5 min. i got a buffalo chicken sandwich. it was good. The cappuccino was not hot and tasted watered down, almost like a mix. Service was good. It was crowded, Labor Day weekend.

Husband and I stopped in for a little something while visiting Frenchtown on Bastille Day weekend. We spotted a beautiful(and huge) pastry in the dessert case, inquired if it was an apple dumpling, discovered it was, and ordered it to share. It was served warm with homemade whipped cream on the side(see photo). An entire apple, stuffed with a cinnamon filling was encased in a tender, flaky crust. It was delicious! Although that is all we ordered(plus beverages), the various salads and omelettes headed for other tables looked quite appetizing. We would most definitely stop in again when in the area.

Outstanding. Unquestionably one of the top 5 hamburgers I have ever had. It’s huge. It’s obvious this is not your typical fast food frozen hamburger from who knows where. This is local farm country beef. So excited I can’t wait to come back and try other things. Did I say that coffee is very good too? It is. I verified this is part of the same ownership that has the new café at the Sky Manor Airport in Pittstown. I went by there but it’s closed on Tuesdays. So I navigated to Frenchtown where I had heard they had the cousin café. It was worth it. The waitress was all smiles. Only warning is Frenchtown Café closes at 3 p.m.

Quite a disappointment seeing all the stars and a long wait to get seated. Yes, the variety is a big plus, but the quality of the food was nothing special. My egg florentine was watery and the home fries tasted no better than those out from a freezer bag. Pricing was reasonable but the portion was small. I couldn’t believe how small a large orange juice was and can’t imagine what a small offering would have.

Close your eyes and picture a small town eatery where after 2 visits the wait staff knows your name, puts your preferred beverage — tea, coffee or cola — on the table without asking and, smiling, asks, how’s everything. Open your eyes and you’ll be in the Frenchtown Café. I’ve visited a few times with a friend — a local — and as he walks down the long center aisle, patrons say hello and the very attractive waitresses(not being sexist, just honest) start making his cup of hot tea so it’s ready when he sits down. The bread is fresh and local as are many of the produce and meat selections. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the food, well prepared and flavorful. Yesterday, I had a Caesar salad with chicken and the lettuce was fresh, cold and crispy. The chicken was grilled and seasoned well with a light coating of dressing on top. It was a perfect portion for a healthy lunch. My friend, who says he always tries the specials, had an Italian sandwich on a hunk of crusty fresh bread. He pronounced it very good. We were joined by my friend’s dad. He had a Ruben — a massive sandwich that he cut in half and took the uneaten portion home for dinner. Frenchtown is one of those artsy fartsy towns that dot the Delaware river. Lots to see and do — a good Sunday first date place for that maybe-someone-special you met online. You would be hard pressed to find a more congenial spot to eat, chat and get to know each other than the Frenchtown Café. If you’re not on a date, it’s also a neat little place for a good lunch with friends. Recommended

Love this place! It is my favorite breakfast, and I am willing to drive the 15 miles to get it. The food is always good(local organic eggs, yum!), the breakfast menu is extensive, staff is friendly — and so are the folks at the counter. I’ve mad a few friends here. It is an open, friendly place. I’ve introduced several friends and they have all loved it!

We love it here. I’ve had the veggie pattie bigger and the grilled portobello sandwich. Both were phenomenal! My date has had the same salad on both visits and loved it each time. I forget what it was called but had Brie, crisp apple, and raspberry dressing. Service is attentive and friendly! Love the atmosphere here and the music!
