Finally got around to trying this place after one of my gf’s has been telling me she eats here just about every week and I wish I had started eating here sooner! FINALLY– a place in my own city where I can get my Burma superstar fix! I don’t have to drive all the way to alameda(or Palo Alto for Burma ruby) anymore! Yay! We ordered the stuff we usually get at Burma superstar — palata, tea leaf salad, minced jalapeño chicken, and coconut rice. ALL were just as good and for such a reasonable price! We also got the crispy chicken which I really liked and the beef kebab something(I think that’s what it’s called?) which was good, too. For dessert, we had the fried banana with ice cream. Kinda expensive for a dessert when it’s the same price as the tea leaf salad and the scoop of ice cream was tiny, but whatever I won’t knock them for it. We also ordered another tea leaf salad to go which we very much enjoyed eating at home later on. So so yummy. Oh yea, I wish they had Thai iced tea! But oh well. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Had lunch here on a Thursday afternoon and really liked the food. Ordered the lunch special with tofu kebat and coconut rice. The menu had a lot of vegan friendly options, more than kyain kyain and Burma house. Lunch comes with soup and salad, unfortunately the soup was chicken and so I had to give that to my husband. I think they should alter that since almost all their specials have a tofu/vegetarian option. The salad was really good and crunchy. Tofu kebat was awesome, great flavors and generous portion size for a lunch special. Coconut rice was nice too, a little sweet for my taste. The lady(owner?) was very nice and friendly. Used the Unilocal checkin discount for 15% off. I will be back.

Great food! The place was not crowded during a Saturday lunch. Service was friendly and attentive. My favorite dish is the tea leaf rice salad, which is also very popular.

I use Unilocal a lot but I never write reviews. This is my first review I’m writing because I really love this place. Everything here is absolutely delicious. I’ve had the tea leaf salad, plata, orange chicken, monk hingar soup, garlic noodles, and walnut prawns. I also really like their home made chili sauce. The service is excellent as well. I live on the opposite end of Fremont and I make the treck all the way out here almost once a week since I’ve found out about this place from a friend. Yum!

Amazing food love the tea salad. Don’t forget to use your Unilocal check in for a discount. Also there’s a coupon in the Tri-City Voice Newspaper for 20% off select days.

I call to place an order. She says it will be ready at 8:20. I get there at 8:20. She says please wait 10 mins. I sit down. Fast forward 35 mins and a lot of wasted time on a Friday night, I finally get 4 of the 6 dishes(the other two she started making when I got there so they were ready a bit earlier, but cold by the time the other dishes came out). When I finally get my food and the bill, I remind her that I sat there for over 30 mins because they didn’t start making the food until after I got there. She apologized and said she would give me a discount the next time I come. I start chuckling with her presumption that I’m going to come back, especially given the fact that half or more of the restaurant is empty. She then says«I gave you extra food.» I silently stare at her. She says«ok, I’ll give you 10% off.» I laugh again but at this point I just wanna get out of there. I pay my bill and leave. I guess I’ll never know if she actually gave me extra food because I won’t be coming back. There are better Burmese places in the area, like Burma house in Milpitas and Kyain Kyain in Fremont. I originally came for the rainbow salad(which Burma house and Kyain Kyain don’t make), but it was pre-mixed with dressing and lackluster. The chicken biryani was too salty. Nan gyi Dok was bland. The eggplant curry was very tasty, but not any better than Burma House. String beans were nothing special. Don’t come here if you’re hungry. You will be waiting a long time, even for a pick up order.

Not spectacular just about sums it up. It’s ok, but there are better places. Like the place in willow glen. Came here for lunch. The service is attentive, then again, we were the only people there for about 15 minutes. The dishes all could have been better, either more garlic, or more this, or more that. The location is tucked away in an «alley» of a strip mall. Plenty of parking. But I wouldn’t bring my nice car here. It is probably fine, but it just looks sketch. I mean as sketch as you can get in Fremont. Lol.

Food was okay, my thoughts were: — the chili lamb dish was very salty — the salmon in our curry was wayyyyyyyyyyyy overcooked. One of the outside edges of the fish was hard to the point where you couldn’t even eat it. I don’t see how that is even possible if the fish was just cooked in the curry? Maybe re-used fish or cooked to hell before it was tossed in the curry? I really wanted to like this place :(

Came here a few months ago when I first heard about it, finally had a chance to come back again last night for dinner. With a bigger party(wife + parents, and baby), we were able to order much more than when it was just a quick party of 2. What was ordered: — Palata — Tea Leaf Salad — Myanmar Monk Hingar(soup) — Mango Chicken — Myanmar Beef Kebat — Rice Everything was very delicious… on par with all the other(more well-known) Burmese restaurants in SF, Oakland, Peninsula that I’ve had the pleasure of trying. The biggest thing going against the restaurant is the location. I can almost guarantee that if they were in a more… fashionable… location, people would absolutely wait in line to eat here. But, unfortunately(for the restaurant) the location likely has a negative impact on the amount of customers it serves. I really hope that people do hear more about Myanmar Tea Garden and come try it out, because I know(if they love Burmese food, or even if they haven’t tried it before) they will have a very pleasant culinary experience.

This mom and pop burmese restaurant does a good job of capturing the culinary magic of its fancier counterparts, Rangoon Ruby and Burma Superstar. Most of the dishes are similar(i.e. tea leaf salad, chicken kebat, mango chicken, fiery tofu, etc.), but the prices are more affordable and the portions are just as hefty. With a massive restaurant hidden in a small complex in Fremont, there’s almost never a wait either. Great alternative for a casual and quick burmese meal!

I came here on a weekday night, and the restaurant was practically empty when we went in. We were promptly seated, and I ordered the curry chicken noodle. When it came, everything was separate, and the waiter mixed all together. There was curry chicken, fried wontons, raw onions, cilantro, a sliced up egg, and peanuts. The noodles were thick round rice noodles, and they were perfectly chewy. The flavor of the chicken curry was strong, and the fried wontons added a great texture to the dish. My only wish is that portions would be a bit bigger; at $ 8(pre-tax pre-tip) a plate, there was not a lot of food. Definitely recommend though, I will be back!

I’ve gotten take out here a few times and have never been disappointed. The owners are very friendly and gave me some free iced honey tea while waiting for my order. The quality of the food easily rivals similar fare to Bhurma Superstar in SF, but without the wait and battle for parking. Dishes that I like include the tea leaf salad, sesame chicken and the coconut rice.

Was on my way back to Oakland from SJC and wanted to stop along the way for lunch, so I found Myanmar Tea Garden via Unilocal and walked in. Place was located in a janky strip mall and was pretty much empty. There was only one woman waiting tables so things kind of took a little bit to happen. I ended up ordering the tea leaf salad and the garlic noodles. The waitress, though friendly, wasn’t super helpful — when asked if I should go with the eggplant dish or the noodles, she answered it depended if I wanted rice or noodles. Hmm. And then she had to come back a few minutes later to confirm my order because she had forgotten what it was. The verdict on the food: tea leaf salad was really good. The noodles sucked. Had no salt and was pretty greasy. I ended up bringing most of it home and adding some seasoning and broccoli to it to up the flavor and cut the oil. If you had told me the dish was microwaved, I would have believed you. The tofu in it was bland, and just barely warm. Totally underseasoned. Not that I’d come back here, but the tea leaf salad was flavorful and bright from the lemon juice. Place itself is underwhelming — flies buzzing around, mismatched furniture, and just a run-down strip mall situation.

I would say Burmese food is a hybrid between Indian food and Chinese food(and even Thai?), and my first time ever trying Burmese food was not a disappointment! I came with a party of 3 on a Thursday early evening, and it was dead silent inside the place. We were quickly greeted by the owner of the boss, and quickly seated and served water. Luckily, she turned on some music so the place did not feel too haunted. We ordered: –2 bowls of rice //pretty good serving size! Though they say it’s jasmine rice, but it tastes reallly bland and a bit too soft for me. –1 vegetarian samosa soup //A bit too salty for a «soup» but definitely an amazing dish! Good flavors, amazing over rice and enough to feed at least 4 – 5 people!(5⁄5) –1 fiery tofu //Meh. This is that hybrid dish that is very typical at a Chinese restaurant. Just dark tofu(the hard, dark kinds at 99 ranch) cut into rectangles, stir-fried in black sauce with some green beans.(3⁄5) –1 myanmar tea leaf salad //Darn. I couldn’t take a «before» photo before the nice girl mixed it all up for us! But anyhow, it was nice that she came over and explained to us what the main ingredients were. There is a lot of peanuts/fried beans though… so beware if you are allergic! I liked the fermented tea leaves-it reminds me of this dish I used to eat as a child.(5⁄5) –1 myanmar yellow bean chicken curry //Eh. A small plate with big chunks of meat, but the flavor was mediocre. Still a good dish if you want to eat this over rice!(3⁄5) –1 myanmar shrimp biryani //The rice was very unique! But I am pretty sure biryani is some sort of Indian rice? Either way, they give you quite a bit of shrimp! The rice has nuts in it, so beware if you are allergic!(4⁄5) Pros: –Nice service! Great people, and they do care if you enjoy the food or not! –Great atmosphere! Super clean inside, and feels super authentic! It looks sketchy from the outside(and the location is pretty random) but come inside, and you are teleported to another place! –Good flavors! Very rich and if you are craving something heavy(but not overkill), this place is good to go! –Awesome prices! For the atmosphere and dishes, the prices are nice! And I like that they accept multiple credit cards! Cons: –A bit too salty for my liking. We had requested in the beginning for the food to not be salty, but it still was wayyy too much. Tips/Observations: –Definitely get rice. Everything is super rich and flavorful, you won’t be able to get by without a bowl of rice! –Parking here is spacious! Overall, would come here again to try their other dishes!

This place is fairly new and in a well hidden location. It is located on Fremont Blvd, in a not so well kept shopping center with an O Reily Auto Parts and other businesses. The location is not good, but the food is. First thing to note is that you should check in here on Unilocal because they have specials for checking in on Unilocal.First time I was here and checked in, it was a free soda offer with a purchase of an entrée. Second time which was recently, was 15% off entire order. So it’s worth checking in. Upon entering the restaurant, either side front or back, you are greeted once seen and then taken to a table of your choice. You are given menus and also asked what you’d like to drink. It’s pretty good Burmese food here. I’ve also been to Rangoon Super Stars in Berkeley which is supposedly where the chef here used to work. Burmese Pork Curry; $ 10.00 Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup; $ 8.00 Cumin Beef; $ 11.00 Nan Gyi Dok; $ 8.00 Steamed Jasmine Rice; $ 1.00 a Bowl A few notes on the food, we ordered Cumin Beef to be Mild Spice, it wasn’t really that spicey and the Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup was a bit thick, thicker than what other Burmese places make it to be. This place on first visit for lunch was not busy, but this recent visit for dinner, it started to get busy as we sat down, Patrons started coming on in. This place is slowly starting to get a bit more popular. The customer service here is pretty good, they check up on you often to make sure everything is going well with the meal. The waitress was nice and kept checking up on us and the older lady even apologized for the wait times for the food coming out slowly. Brought tea to our table but we didn’t order it and they had brought it to the wrong table, so they didn’t charge us for it, so it was free. This place is good, it’s great that theres a new Burmese place in Fremont. Yum, yum, yummy! :)

Really really good Burmese food. I am so glad this restaurant opened up in Fremont so I can continue to enjoy their delicious mango chicken without having to drive miles out of my way. In the mood to try something new, my family and I planned a spontaneous outing to Myanmar. Asian fusion flavors are always something interesting and the restaurant already seemed promising given the owner’s prior successes. We ordered the mango chicken, lamb stir fry, pea leaves, and 2 orders of coconut rice with an order of jasmine just in case. We totally regretted ordering the jasmine afterwards because the coconut rice was spot on and we couldn’t get enough of it! The lamb stir fry was alright, but I’m not the hugest fan of lamb so I’ll just leave it at that. The mango chicken, however, was amazing. The chili adds a great kick to the dish, but it isn’t overburdening. Being a spice crybaby, I made it through dinner perfectly tear-less. Real mangos were fresh. The onions were not overpowering. The chicken was slightly crispy which made for a great eating experience. The pea leaves were seasoned with garlic and a bit of salt – just like how my mom does it at home and just as tasty(of course, mom’s is always best). There’s really no complaint with the food. I took off one star for the service, but that’s not to say that the wait staff are terrible. From conversing with the staff, they seem like genuinely kind-hearted people. However, they took forever to take our dinner order after the initial drinks request, and never came to check up on us after the food came out. They also got our food order wrong – bringing out some tofu dish instead of the pea leaves. Luckily there were only two other customers so we got our original order cooked quickly. I wish this restaurant the best. With amazing food, service is forgivable.

I came here around 6:30pm, no one was here, was hesitant to walk in, but gave it a try anyways. The tea leaf salad was really good, I wish it had some spice though. They come out and mix it for you, which is nice. They also squeeze lemon juice, which is nice as it added the right acidity. The mohinga was great except the noodles. The flavor of the soup was flavor blasting, but the noodles were all stuck together. As if they just took it out of a package and dumped the whole noodle inside without boiling or separating. So you’re eating chunks of rice noodles, which was not pleasant. The crunchy lentil stuff was tasty, and the egg was good. I wish they had quail eggs or more eggs. The fresh cilantro added flavoring too. The chicken biriyani was a lot of food already, so bagged half of this home. It comes with two drumsticks, which is kinda not a lot compared to the amount of rice. The chicken was good though, fall off the bone soft. I think the drums been braising for hours. The rice was a bit too wet as there was too much sauce. I appreciated the drier portion of the dish. The sauce on top was good, but a bit too oily for my liking. The chef is apparently one of the head chef from Burma Superstar in SF. I think this is a family run business, everyone was nice and attentive. The location is horrible, and sketchy, I don’t want to come back because of the location. I might give it a shot again, but maybe to get it to go because of the location.

This restaurant is a bit hard to find. I thought it was in the Safeway plaza but it’s actually in the plaza across the street with the Indian supermarket. Just park there and walk down the small alleyway. You’ll know you’re in the right parking lot when you see tons of pigeons. I had the following: –Samosas: Really good! I usually find that the fillings of other samosas don’t have a strong enough curry flavor but this one does. –Lamb Kebat: Wok fried lamb dish with vegetables. It’s not a Burmese dish I would typically order but it’s nice that this comes as a lunch/dinner set with your choice of rice(coconut rice is +$ 1), soup, and a small tea leaf salad. –Nan Gyi Dok: Coconut curry noodle(dry). They mix it tableside, like at the trendier Burmese places in the Bay. Big portion(enough for two) with lots of chicken and eggs. The restaurant is really big and could accommodate groups. It’s not a fancy place by any means and it almost looks like it would be IN Burma. I would get in here before it becomes very popular. There weren’t many people here when I went for a Tuesday lunch so needless to say, service was attentive.

Food was ok. I had the fish noodle soup and coconut chicken noodle soup. Both were just ok. But my coconut noodle soup came without the toppings… just soup and noodles. Um how could the cook forget all the toppings?! My bf had goat and beef curry and he said it was ok. Fried complimentary apps where ok. The lady was nice. She gave us complimentary apps both times I’ve been there. We got fried tofu and some other fried vegetable. She let us know to check in on Unilocal for free stuff and gave us a stamp card thing.
